You are amazing
You are Bae
@@MoviesinDepth honestly you are so well rounded: emotionally intelligent, fantastic at articulating yourself, well educated (in pop culture), amazing sense of humour, but I gotta be honest, the best part about you is your bromances with other RUclipsrs. It's so cute every time I watch an interaction on your videos. Zzavid, Billy Binges, now Welchy? I stan 🥺
Cool little detail you might miss:
When he's a human, the movie is shown in letterbox, but when he wakes up as a bear, it transitions into wide-screen, the animals look less threatening, and the colors become more vibrant, to represent Kenai's perspective changing.
I was very curious on that choice! I loved when they let the aspect ratio grow and show the full perspective
He watched this no way he got all that 💀
And the color palette becomes brighter and richer. ("Can you see in color?"). In at least some movie theaters that had curtains in front of the screen, they pulled out at the moment the 4:3 aspect (not 'letterbox', that's something else) changed to 16:9. It was breathtaking, and probably influenced by the sepia-to-Technicolor moment in The Wizard of Oz.
It's crazy to think that before he played The Joker, Joaquin Phoenix voiced a guy who gets turned into a bear. The guy has range haha
I REALIZED IT AFTER I FILMED IT. THE MAN HAS RANGEP
@@MoviesinDepth Joaquin Phoenix was actually grieving over the death of his own brother as he was filming this 💛
Can we also mention Rick Moranis as one of the moose?
I’ve been watching this for 20 years and I’m just learning this woah 😂
the spirits got upset cause he killed the bear out of hate, not because he killed. death happens all the time, but he did the exact opposite of what his totem represents, and ultimately became a bear because of that. the song being played when he sees the auroras and transforms actually translates to something similar to what i’m saying!
as a kid the part where kenai tells koda about what happened to his mom made me cry
My god it hit me like some BRICKS
Alot of people thought the song took away from it, but it still gets me.
That part never made me cry, i felt bad for koda but my tears were already shed at part where he realized it WAS kodas mom
hearing her say "koda" it still beings me to tears cuz she was just protecting her baby 😢
@@MoviesinDepth it got you in the feels, huh?
@@ninjabluefyre3815 , to be fair, the original confession was way better. As we actually hear the story Kenai tells....
The line "The story of a boy who became man, by becoming a bear" still goes hard to this day.
Sad you cut it from the vid
It’s a great line!!
I swear, I will always miss when Disney wasn't afraid to have dark plot twists.
Another Disney movie with a dark plot twist in its climax is Bridge to Terabithia.
I'm honestly glad you didn't realize the twist until way later, it makes the emotions hit SO much harder when the music kicks in 😭
The best part of this movie was Kenai choosing to remain a bear to look after Koda.
YAYYYYY!! Brother Bear is so underrated, Sitka's funeral scene gave me chills 🥶👌🏽
ME CRYING
“That’s tragic, of all the bears he meets he killed this ones mom” (not quoted perfectly)
Meanwhile earlier in the movie
Koda: “Thanks Sitka, if it weren’t for you, I would’ve never met Keani”
Sitka knew what he was doing!
"What's the biggest villain of this movie?
CLIFFS!!"
This line had be busting out laughing, I nearly woke the whole house!
😂😂😂
*sob* brother bear hits SO HARD *sob*
The mom SOB
Your reaction to realizing the original bear was his Mom was everything I was expecting and more 😂 A stellar reaction as always ❤
"The story of a boy who became a man by becoming a bear" - this quote encapsulates the profound journey in Brother Bear, one of Disney's most underappreciated films. I could watch Brother Bear a million times and never grow tired of it. Brother Bear is an underrated gem, in my opinion. I believe that far too many people forgot about this movie.
Phil Collins went absolutely hard with these soundtracks. Absolute legend. In actual life, Joaquin Phoenix, who played Kenai, lost his brother River. According to the director, Phoenix's performance during the filming of Kenai's reaction to Sitka's death was so raw and passionate that most of it had to be edited for fear of upsetting children too much.
I can now see why the symbol of love is shaped like a bear after seeing the movie again. Of all the creatures Kenai encounters, only the bears celebrate friends and family-basically, love at its purest. It also shows that bears attacked people to protect their loved ones, just as people chased bears. As I became older, I came to understand what it meant to be a Bear of Love, which may surprise you. Bear mothers fiercely defend their babies and will do anything it takes to keep them safe. Even though the bear was merely a wild animal defending its cubs, Kenai blamed it out of grief.
I also adore the details in this film. Denahi, believing he had lost both of his brothers, seeks vengeance by pursuing the bear (who he doesn’t know is Kenai) in order to avenge his younger brother, Kenai. This Denahi is a reincarnation of Kenai if he pursued vengeance for Sitka's death. “Koda, I did something very wrong." "Your mother's not coming." The fact that Koda puts all the pieces together without Kenai directly saying what happened is what makes this scene so heart-wrenching! I cried at this scene, but the line that ripped my heart out was, "You trusted me, believed in me, and I let you down."
The eldest brother became a spirit. The middle brother matured into a wise person. The youngest became an animal. This film is an emotional roller coaster of intellect, wit, pure heart, and morals. It takes you on an incredible soul-searching trip.
Brother Bear is an extraordinary exploration of identity, transformation, and redemption. It beautifully illustrates how embracing empathy and understanding can lead to profound personal growth. The narrative's strength lies in its ability to convey deep emotional truths through the lens of a seemingly simple story about a boy's journey to manhood.
The soundtrack, composed by Phil Collins and Mark Mancina, is a highlight of the film. Songs like "On My Way" and "Look Through My Eyes" are uplifting and perfectly complement the story's themes of discovery and self-awareness. Collins' music elevates the emotional impact of key scenes, making the viewing experience even more immersive.
Brother Bear is a heartwarming and thought-provoking film that deserves more recognition. Its powerful message about love, family, and the importance of seeing the world through others' eyes is timeless and universal. With its captivating story, beautiful animation, and unforgettable music, Brother Bear remains a cherished classic that continues to resonate with audiences of all ages.
The bear at 17:33 was actually croatian, cause there was someone from croatia in the staff of making this movie. In croatian dub however, the bear speaks russian, which is as funny as the original dub.
I thought he was supposed to be a french bear because they are near or in canada?
@ 18:26 He had *NO IDEA* that it was Koda's mom
ME DYING LATER ON
Apparently, the voice recording of this movie was very emotional for Joaquin Phoenix cuz it reminded him of his own brother River 😭
The hole realization that the bear was Koda’s mom😂😂
This movie deserves more love and attention. I really enjoy Brother Bear, it has such a great story, good characters, and ofc, songs by Phil Collins!
Phil the MAN
Koda seeing his mom at the end breaks me every. single. time.
Such a good movie! Definitely one of my favorites. My best friend got me a stuffed animal of Koda for Christmas 🐻🧡
That’s ICONIC
This and Fox and the Hound were my childhood films ❤😊
… not me adding to the list of what I haven’t seen..
"I don't need flashbacks to the Lion King, thank you very much."
Honestly, given that I've always loved Brother Bear more than the Lion King (BB is tied with Hercules as my favorite Disney movie), Sitka's death hits me so much harder. As the eldest of three sisters, I know for a fact I would do EXACTLY what Sitka did for his brothers. No hesitation. He's probably the Disney character I relate to the most 😂
Great reaction!
Definitely one of Disney’s best animated films. Phil Collins did a phenomenal job with the soundtrack just like with Tarzan.
PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken.
I cry every time I watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥
One of my FAVOURITE movies along with brother bear 😭 the story, the animation, the music!
Agreed, the animators absolutely were flexing with the horses. They never talk but they say so much with body language, amazing work😊
That NEEDS to happen
Oh my God,yes please!!!! It has the same vibe for me as brother bear
The fact that Kenai is voiced by Joaquin Phoenix is insane to me. He's one of my favorite actors for a reason.
Joaquin Phoenix deserves so much credit. Playing a younger brother losing his older brother. When in fact Joaquin is a young brother himself who also had lost his own older brother.
Something that I learned recently that surprised me is that the voice of Denahi is Jason Raize--as a musical fan, you might recognize him as the original adult Simba on Broadway! It was his only film role I believe
I’ve been subbed to you for a few years and I can’t believe this has taken this long to get to, but I’m glad this reaction is here 😂 one of my favs
I LOVE when reactors don't piece together that Kenai killed Koda's mom in the beginning. Because i didn't realise it until it got to the one scene, and I like watching other people experience that same moment.
Fun fact! Don't know if it's every copy, but the DVD copy I had of this movie had a video commentary version with Rut and Tuk. Not the VAs, but the characters. It was my favorite thing. That and the bloopers.
A lot of pple who havent watched brother Bear also dont realize that the narrator/ old man in the beginning is denahi . It truly bagfles me .
What an awesome video to come out on my birthday!
Brother Bear is one of my favorites from my childhood ❤
Fun Fact: Koda is Jordan from the Bernie Mac show ❤
Another Fun fact: Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Suarez had only recorded one line together.
It's been said such an underrated gem. But for me what I love the most is Sitka's guidance not just for Keni, for Denhe as well. Older brother still had so much to teach them. 😢😊
I really need this video; I needed a good laugh. After being in the hospital last week. I needed something to make me laugh. You're amazing at this reactions stuff.
15:35
Nice touch with the Mummy (1999) callback!
🤣
I absolutely loved your reaction. Thought I was safe to eat and drink my lunch while watching. Nope, almost choked on my Pepsi with your humor. "What's the real villain of this movie?! CLIFFS!!" had me rolling 🤣
Thank you for your movie and show reactions it really brightens my day to watch your content, even if it causes me physical discomfort and reminders that I am indeed not a fish.
So the two caribous were voiced by the same actors who played brother in the comedy movie Strange Brew. A hysterical movie.
The commentary had me cackling! Loved it
Interesting fact for the ones who watched it or not: The old man telling the story at the beginning.... That's Denahi as an old wise man!
Remember, his totem was wisdom. Sitka said "not because his totem is wisdom means he's wise" before he got bit by the dog while being foolish.
Denahi was not wise as a kid, but ended up being wise as an old man sharing the wisdom of his brother's story to the villagers 🥺♥️
Yes!!! I’m so happy you watched this!! It’s one of my all time faves. And so underrated.
18:40 “Don’t talk”
😂😂😂😂
It’s great to see you doing animated Disney movies again!
😎
Still waiting for you to watch The Great Mouse Detective and Oliver And Company!
YASS ❤ I’m so glad you reacted to this! This is literally one of my favorite movies from childhood 😊
Did you know the design and clothes of the Southern Water Tribe in ATLA was inspired by the Inuit?
14:10
Nice touch with that Grinch callback!
🤣
my mother is an alcoholic and at the moment I have not been able to build not only a good, but at least a neutral relationship with her. as a child, I watched this cartoon and watched how a mother risks everything for her child, protecting him, and I felt terrible, experiencing strong envy and did not understand why I could not be treated with the same warmth and love. it’s good that now I can just enjoy the cartoon and not cry over family drama 🤡🤙
I’ve loved this movie since I was kid. I still love it to this day so much so that I named my dogs Koda and Kenai. Underrated classic
luv ur reactions so much so happy being a legend again on ur Patreon
I unlocked a memory I didn't know I have 😭😭
Brother bear is still my favorite disney movie. It has so much heart! I love the songs, the landscape, the characters and the story. Even the second movie has the same vibe and is still fantastic!!! Im crying every time, even in your reaction :)
My too. I don’t care what anyone says about it being so underrated😡 It’ll always be one of my favorite Disney movies.
If i had a nickle for every time disney made a movie about a POC that gets turned into an animal and goes on a whole adventure with a character that they start hating and by the end they straight up love, I'd have two nickles
Welcome back sir, enjoyed it as always
11:44 You can't escape the Overachieing Beast of music that is
*P H I L*
*C O L L I N S*
One thing i like to mention on the music standpoint is not only did phil Collins write the songs for the film he wrote the film score as well. And used the score to foreshadow some of 5he events. One such case is the scene under the glacier that kenai and koda sleep under. You can hear the instrumental intro to "no way out," the song that plays during kenais confession.
This is my favourite movie since childhood!
Me and my sisters made matching tattoos from each of the brothers' totems
6:31
That reminds me, I don’t think you’ve reacted to Balto (1995) yet!
🐺
Get on that!
My uncle works with Phil and I was lucky enough to go to the premier of this when I was a kid. I don’t remember much aside from Phil nearly dropping me when he was playing with me and his son Nick 😂
This is my favorite movie. The music is so sublime. Phil Collins being the best choice for music in the movie as well as Joaquin Phoenix being the voice of keni is awesome. I love the soundtrack too❤❤❤❤
Phil didn’t have to go so hard in THIS AND TARZAN
Wait till the second one trust me the soundtrack is amazing 😂😂😂
18:09
Yeah, that’s pretty close to how I reacted the first time I saw this part.
😰
This is one of my favorite Disney movies and it makes me want to have a brother, cause I would do anything to protect him no matter what.
Always so heartbreaking! One of the best Disney movies! 💔
My heart was GONE
Bears 🐻 are not monsters and actually can be very loving and even feel grief
Such an awesome movie...loved it.
Laughed a good 10 minutes when the husband yelled back "stop telling people I'm dead!"...only time I really Laughed.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Disney movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
LEGENDDD
One of the most underrated Disney movies and back when they actually had organic diversity.
My daughter named her son Koda after the character on this movie
I hadn’t really noticed all the falls until you pointed it out 😂

Rutt and Tuke are a reference to Bob and Doug Mackenzie from SCTV aka Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas
16:05 It’s, "Hope you had a nice TRIP, see you next Fall!"
Sense how much you liked this one you should watch the second one its really good and I find it pretty cute and sweet in some scene also I love you videos they make me laugh and light up my day 😁
16:25 More like "beary-beary"- okay I'm so sorry
Great reaction, this movie has been my absolute favorite since childhood ❤
This is the first movie I remember seeing in theaters, I was 3 or 4 at the time
Such an underrated classic
“It’s almost like you were gonna do the “all is lost” moment right there”
How do we tell him
I NEEDED TO KNOW
I remember this was the movie was ALWAYS watched whenever my family and I went camping~ such good memories.
btw, anyone else thinks he should react to "strange magic" as he loves musical movies~?
I love this movie, watched it as a kid in Hungarian so the songs hit different that way for me. Tarzan is the same.
Watch the second one too please😍
Tell me why that bear was like *oof* "OOWW, DID YOU JUST THROW A ROCK AT ME?" Or "what the f*%&? Oh we throwing rocks now, huh? Okay, bet!"
Everybody’s been debating about a bear vs a man, but no one has asked, “what if the bear WAS a man?!”
i love this movie and its sooo underrated, cant wait to watch! only posted 3 mins ago lol
YOU THE BEST
The Sidka’s hood with the antlers was attached..
Brisket on the board! Sauce on the board!
7:44 the power of the shoe to the head. Been around since the ice age and doesn't matter culture, ethnicity, or even the type of shoe so long as there is a woman whose had enough of your nonsense and has great aim the shoe will be a powerful weapon. Lol!!
I always wished and I'd hope my spirit, mine would be a wolf or fox perhaps some kind of k9 totem.
You and I are on the SAME WAVELENGTH
@@MoviesinDepth Thank you.
15:58 this movie should be called “Falling”
Also jumping on another comment, spirit stallion of the Cimarron is a must
I think that’s my all time favorite animated movie and my comfort film
Brother Bear is in my top 5 tho for sure
Wooooo! This is such a classic.
Immediate classic!
Brother bear 2 next hopefully
walt disney pictures proudly presents...choose the bear!
Loved your reaction as always. You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
Thank you for watching!!
Brother bear 2, please!
This is my favourite film
Kenai: Yeah, I'll probably get like a sabertooth tiger for bravery or strength or greatness. You know, something that fits me.
Denahi: How about a mammoth for your fat head?
Kenai: (After getting is totem...) Who wants to trade?
Tanana: THERE IS NO TRADING (Smacks Kenai)
Old Lady Bear: This year, I lost my dear husband Edgar....
Edgar: QUIT TELLING EVERYONE I'M DEAD!
Old Lady Bear: ....sometimes, I can still hear his voice!
These lines will forever crack me up....
@MoviesinDepth
Love your content dude. I'd like to recommend a movie for you to react to.
underrated
