I’d have to disagree. I believe the original song was written about suicide and Johnny Cash’s version, along with his video, was a very depressing vision of his own life involving drugs, alcoholism and depression. I think Maple’s life was probably about as happy as it could possibly be once she met Trench.

That's the best compliment you can give a musician. Johnny Cash's version has made me cry on countless occasions as well, It's such an emotionally sad and beautiful song.
I always thought i wasn't strong enough because a song can break me and make my eyes water, im at least glad that im not the only one. I didnt cry today, but i often have tears in my eyes with some songs and it embarases me if im with people around, because they dont cry, not even girls, but i guess they cant feel the music the way i do, the way musicians understand music, its our language. We portray feelings through sounds.

I’ve watched this vid at least 20 times. Was in a terrible and lonely mood and wanted to hear it again and see maple. When the vid started playing my dog ran up to me with his favorite toy and we played fetch. We don’t deserve these amazing creatures.
