    Good on you for holding them to account. You should have called out the dealer but I understand why you didn't. That battery replacement price also seems ridiculous.

    • @RichWithCars

    People say BMWs are complicated performance machines and it's normal for them to have many problems down the road. But such headaches for a top of the line model with this low mileage shows that it's not even about planned obsolescence it's just plain bad engineering; and to add insult to the injury many of the dealerships are stealerships.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  Год назад +1

      @mauricecherry8146 just make sure to check for common issues if you're thinking of purchasing one. These include the LPFP/HPFP and the expansion tank (for radiator fluid). These are the issues that if left unattended, could cause major problems. Also, make sure that regular servicing was done, including the spark plug replacement at 30k miles. Then of course, make sure to inspect all other aspects of the vehicle. Nevertheless, parts can become very expensive, so make sure to keep a small fund for repairs 😉

    BMW dealerships are not all the same. Customer service is an art, some dealers think it is chance to earn revenue. I have moved around quite a bit, and my frank assessment is buyer beware. 7 BMW leased, 2 purchased, 5 different dealers in 2 countries. Mostly good experience, but you can be mistaken for a cash cow by some dealerships.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  11 месяцев назад +2

      I didn't have possession of the M5 for the prior 3 years, my brother did. Ever since I took possession, I started taking care of all the issues, including getting the car fully cleaned. Even if the car dieing happens with most F90's, it doesn't make it normal...

  • @JerainJezza
    @JerainJezza Год назад +2

    Same issues on my F90 M5. Rough start and stall is the LPFP failure. I also have the known cracked coolant reservoir... This is pathetic from BMW on a car that's a few years old and still no recalls. I decided to fix it myself bc the dealership is booked until 2 months from now bc they have to fix recalls on EGR coolers lol wtf.

    • @RichWithCars
      @RichWithCars  Год назад

      Completely agree that it's simply unacceptable for such a high-priced vehicle. Dealer verified both LPFP and HPFP with no issues found. They replaced the expansion tank alongside cleaning the bores from the leaked coolant and replaced all plugs and coils on one bank. Unfortunately, several days after picking up my vehicle, the stalling and rough idle still remain, but intermittently.

    • @inventingabetteryou9210
      @inventingabetteryou9210 Год назад

      Woah this is too scary to be a coincidence. My 2018 M5 also had a cracked coolant reservoir last year, seemed so random..... I was almost convinced that they did it on purpose.... How is that even possible ?

    • @JerainJezza
      @JerainJezza Год назад

      @@inventingabetteryou9210 They ALL have it, most owners won't even notice tho untill they get missfires etc from the leak. I replaced it myself, wasn't too hard. Like a one hour job, just disconnect the two top lines with a towel and then be careful with the bottom line and hold the tank sideways. Fill up with what came out and auto-bleed the system. The LPFP was a pain tho, just empty the tank while driving to the bare minimum of fuel and use gloves and start wiggling the pump around until you hear the final 'click'.

    Lmao. These BMW Dealers are terrible man.
    My wear sensor on my front and rear pads triggered giving me the warning to change the pads soon.
    Took it to BMW, they told me they won’t replace the pads unless I do the rotors too. $3,000 job. The sensor triggers when there is 2MM left of life on the pads. They said I need to change both ASAP.
    I told them to eat a bag of sh*t, drove the car for 9,000 more miles with that warning. Went to a buddies shop and changed only all 4 pads for $600 in total, 9,000 miles later. Lasted me a whole year. BMW wanted me to change them for $3,000 and they said i MUST change my discs 😂😂

    I think personal in my opinion you need some prior knowledge, experience, or know what your talking about with these caliber of vehicle. Especially being a BMW the service writer gets paid of your service paid. First the ac sound simple, second the whole battery thing I bet you that battery IS NOT 2000$ to replace, third the pad thing was straight up a scam. The front pads are starting to get low at 4mm and depending on how you drive you could have months left on the pads rears are nearly new at that mm. Being I’m a service writer I can 100% assure you they saw a F90 and thought money. Instead learn how to diagnose simple things and install parts yourself. I’m currently in the market looking for a F90 competition and I will not being bringing it to a dealer for most of the things due to them trying to upsell products even tho I tell them I’m in service and they think I don’t know what I’m talking about

    • @RichWithCars

      Thanks for the input. Check OEM replacement battery for an F90 M5. It's a lithium battery with a cost of $1600 - not cheap. Then you have to plug the vehicle into a BMW based system to reset it when installing a new battery - they naturally charge you for that. Fortunately, I didn't need to have the battery replaced. Nevertheless, I sold my M5.

      @@Majorka513 if you ask me, right now it’s not even a good time to buy a used car unless you are in need for one but with that said the car you’re looking at is a beast. not much issues on that car tbh and with 75k miles the engine should still be great as long as you know it’s history and maintenance. V8s in the past especially on the f10 models were garbage. I know this from past experience. But the one you’re looking at has improved by a lot by Bmw. The car you’re looking at shouldn’t cost more than 33k thats if you’re looking for a good deal

      @Exposing.y0u 8 месяцев назад

      @@Majorka513 all depends on how much you’re willing to spend because the m5 and m550 are almost identical with almost identical engine performance. But there’s a big price difference between them. And also the 2018 bmw m5 will definitely bring you a whole lot of issues. I owned a 2019 bmw m5 few years back and at 33k miles I had to change my starter and it was down hill after that. My radiator was leaking from all the power I was pushing. I had to change my gasket seals too they were leaking oil out. If I was to go with a bmw m5 I would go with a new one that comes with a warranty covered by the dealership but with that comes a big price tag, good luck
