Great job! How much slack, if any, was there between the compression strap stop and the end of the bent strip at the start of the bending process?
I have found i need 1/8" or so slack at the first, to prevent backbow at the end of the bend.

Way more complicated than you need and a 3 man crew too. I know that toboggan builders soak KD wood for 3 days before they steam it. I guess you use white oak because u have it? I have red oak so...no white.
I've done this totally alone - no three man crew necessary. It's easy. If you have suggestions on how it could be simpler, I'm open to hear them.
I like the look of white oak. Also, I've done these rims alone -no three man crew necessary.
