Do you have to clean the Pod before you put your stuff in or is it delivered cleaned? How many days do you have to fill the container before they pick it up? What is you guys recommendations on how to pack the Pod and how to pack/wrap the TVs, mirrors, breakable things if you had any and what would you put first in the Pod?
The POD arrives swept, but the floor is definitely dirty. I would recommend laying down some tarp, as a few of our items got dirty and dusty, but not a huge deal. I will say once we opened it back up a month later, it was extremely dusty in there. When we finished, we swept it up, but otherwise, didn't do any other "cleaning". You set the dates yourselves. Your month "time period" starts the day your POD gets dropped off and continues until the day it your agreement ends and the POD is officially picked up for the last time. So if this takes longer than a month, you'll be charged for a second month of "storage". You call them to schedule a drop off, pick up and then drop off and pick up again when you're at your new location. I do recommend calling about a week ahead for scheduling. They were very accommodating but were usually booking at least a week out. As far as packing, we put our mattresses in the very back to help with cushion and things banging on the side of the POD. We then put heavy furniture items like dressers, night stands, etc, to hold that all in, and then finally putting the boxes in any nooks and crannies. It's importtant to try and get it as tight as possible so things don't shift much. We had very minimal shifting and not one item was broken. For the TVs, we bought the big TV boxes and LOTS of bubble wrap and saran wrap (for all items). The TV boxes are quite expensive for just being a box (about $50-60) depending on the size and there may be smarter options, but we wanted to be safe and make sure it didn't break.
We purchased the one they had available. I believe it was $11. It's a very sturdy lock, seems like it'd be very hard to cut through if someone wanted to. We had a fantastic experience with PODs- hoping to make my review video soon. That's awesome! I was Raised in MA, then moved to SC after college, then IL and now back here!
