The archer is one of her most heartbreaking and beautify written songs. Not only because of the lyrics, but because of her voice, I love how she can make you feel whatever she wants trough her voice, you can feel the pain and the anxiety trough out the whole song. Masterpiece!
the bridge of this song is everything. in an interview with vogue in 2014, when asked if she could have any superpower which she could have, taylor said “the ability to heal people”. SHE HAS THIS SUPERPOWER this song is healing and i love it so much🥰
Yeah, and I am pretty sure it's gonna be a very good album. "Red" had also songs with many styles. The title song, "All Too Well", and "I Knew You Were Trouble" are all different. She had humor on her previous singles, now this is much darker. My favorite so far.
I read on twitter that a lot of people don't like this song because they waited for the beat drop to happen but it never came. And some said taylor wrote it that way because thats exactly how anxiety feels like for her; waiting forever to feel relieved. Gosh shes such a genius songwriter, i feel sorry for her bcs she has to go through a lot of bad things🥺🥺
I looked it up, what this song could possibly mean and I learned this song is deeply about Taylor that a lot of others could relate. This song is about her struggles with her vulnerability and trust in relationship. Taylor compares herself to the archer, saying she's ready to defend herself from being hurt, but this also makes it difficult for her to let people in. "I've been the archer, I've been the prey," is about how she has been hurt in the past, but Taylor also acknowledges that she has hurt others. This song is about how she is afraid of getting hurt again, but she also wants to find someone who will stay with her. "Who could stay?" reflects Taylor's uncertainty of finding lasting love. The song ends with the line "You could stay," which suggests that Taylor is finally starting to believe she is worthy of love. This song shows her willingness to be more open and vulnerable with her fans.
I like to think imgonnagetyouback, The Bolter, and the Archer have the same narrator. All their stories 📖 flow nicely into each other. About a woman with Antisocial Personality Disorder, who learns to accepts herself (in The Bolter), and eventually finds someone who's personality gels with hers (The Archer) calming her down. She struggles to figure out how to tell him her feelings. And tell him how everyone else, except her father, has always hated her once they knew who she was. She wonders why this guy is not repulsed by her. Sometimes having doubts he really knows her or that he has some ulterior motive. Just because she has no explanation for him staying loving towards her. She does not blame people for hating her. She hates herself as well. She loves him dearly, finding her true love 💗. And is ready for the "combat" of having to confess her feelings on the matter.

This song holds a special place in my heart. The day this video was released, was a very hard day for me. I left my family for the first time and went to France for my education. I was staying with a family who treated me so badly. They yelled at me all the time and looked down on me. I was missing my family, trying to focus on my studies and handling with the family that I was staying with at the same time and one day when it was all too much I just started crying in my bedroom. I felt so alone, thousands of miles away from my family and friends, but suddenly I got a notification on my phone. It was Taylor, releasing The Archer lyric video and at that moment I felt like she was there with me and she was telling me that everything was going to be okay and stop crying . Thank you Taylor, you may never read this comment but thank you for making me feel not alone. You were there for me when I needed you the most and I will always be there for you too. I love you.
2:07 I feel like my heart will flip out, the nerves, the anxiousness, the heartbeat not slowing down, the beat keeps getting louder as if you're finally, finally been seen. Taylor, you've really seen right through me

i havent saw a fan noticing it but in 3:10 u can hear taylor's voice of "ahh" and her deep breaths with trying to calm down. its about anxiety and makes me cry everytime.
It’s crazy how this song is exactly how i feel when i experience anxiety. I can literally not only feel my heart like this but also hear my heart beating like that
"Who could ever leave me darling but who could have stayed" Hits hard when none of your friends remember your birthday, I know it's immature to have expectation but I was the one texting them always
I relate a lot to this line!! But for me it's because I'm still in the closet and my friends don't know about me so I wonder what'll happen if they knew and question myself, *"Who could ever leave me darling and who could stay?"*
its not immature. dont lower your expectations becase of people like them. Dont ever settle for less. Know your worth, and just know, you're not the only one.
In All Too Well we had a climax because at the end of that song she wanted to show off her pain in a sort of "furious" way. It was the cry of desperation of a 20 year old girl. Now, 7 years later, she's a woman pushing 30 and she's got a different way to react to hurtful situations: the general tone is more somber and reflective, mirroring her (new?) ability to cope in an adult-like way. She's in a stable relationship and she can reflect on her fear of losing it all in a sad but mature state of mind. No need for a climax.
@@emiliawilson4378 Thank you for catching my mistake! The part I meant was when she sings 'Who could stay?' Three times before the 2 'You could stay' lines!
@@luna_writes Oh yeah the chorus has the tempo of Getaway car. Additionally, I think it's "teardrops on my guitar" when she sings the first line of the song.
There are opposites to everything, so turn it around, own the room. When I was 10, my mom told me the truest words ever spoken...."If you can't find the friend, then BE the friend others need to come to."
i know most people dislike this song, but it holds a very special place in my heart. my crush’s middle name is Archer, i love him so much. and the reason why this song is so special to me is not just cause it has his middle name in it, but this album also released around the time i met him. i had horrible separation anxiety, i was terrified to be away from my family. i was failing school as well, and my parents decided to put me in a class for after school. and my crush’s mom was the teacher of the class, and that’s how i met him. my mom had just left me there outside the building, and i was sitting outside crying on the sidewalk in the summer heat, he saw me through the window and came over and gently said “hi, are you okay?” and i just shook my head, still crying. and he just hugged me. the reason why this was such a big deal was because i was having an absolutely horrible year. i hit puberty, i had no friends, and i was failing school. and nobody ever hugged me like he did then, i felt actually cared for in that moment. he took my hand and led me inside, and his brother was just sitting at one of the tables. and we went over and sat down, and he introduced me to his brother. and all of us from then on became best friends. the only reason i have an appreciation for 2019 is because that’s when i met him. and honestly i’m so thankful that i was put in that class, because if not i wouldn’t have ever met him. i love you, jackson.
it’s almost like through song she’s writing in her diary, about her secrets, struggles, fears, and at the end she snaps it shut, ending the song so abruptly
Aaron Fortier people can write about the same thing for a long time, even if jack influenced this a lot she has talked about writing this song and she writes all her songs

What I relate to:- "I jump from the train, i ride off alone" "Hate my reflection, for years and years" "I see right through me" "Cause all of my enemies started out friends" "Who could ever leave me darling, but who could stay" The increase in beat ( makes me feel like anxiety is building up and there is no way to stop it.) And it never drops
Sogand fz actually, kinda. But she still knows that she has been a prey. But this time, she rightly acknowledges that she has also been an archer. ‘The archer’ and ‘the prey’ In context of her relationships and friendships.
'Who could ever leave me darling, but who could stay?' this line broke me, i still can't believe this song didn't got the love & recognition it deserved 😭
To me, this song is about how a lot of us feel like we will never find love, like there will never be the right person for us, and we're going to be alone forever. That's it. Masterpiece

i havent saw a fan noticing it but in 3:10 u can hear taylor's voice of "ahh" and her deep breaths with trying to calm down. its about anxiety and makes me cry everytime.

It’s crazy how this song is exactly how i feel when i experience anxiety. I can literally not only feel my heart like this but also hear my heart beating like that
When she said “Cause all of my enemies started out friends” I felt that-
Tory :3 me tooo
MEEEEE TOOOOOOO

“All of my enemies started out friends” MY HEART JUST BROKE that’s so hard love this song
I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost. The room is on fire, invisible smoke.
This portrays exactly how a panic attack feels.
Yes! Dude I got that part and that part got me.
Corey Wollard it’s actually why I like the song so much .... makes the panic attacks more elegant

exactly !!
Yes!!!
"Who could ever leave me darling but who could have stayed"
Hits hard when none of your friends remember your birthday, I know it's immature to have expectation but I was the one texting them always
I don’t think it’s immature to want reciprocity
it's not immature at all
I think "tolerate it" from Taylor Swift's 'evermore' album describes your situation
There's just so much emotion packed into this one track (classic track 5)... how does she manage to write such beautiful songs?
Overflowing talent man
@@struckbyamightygustofwind true, she's really one of a kind!!!
andy amazing lyricist
"cause all of my enemies started as friends" well that still hits home
In All Too Well we had a climax because at the end of that song she wanted to show off her pain in a sort of "furious" way. It was the cry of desperation of a 20 year old girl.
Now, 7 years later, she's a woman pushing 30 and she's got a different way to react to hurtful situations: the general tone is more somber and reflective, mirroring her (new?) ability to cope in an adult-like way. She's in a stable relationship and she can reflect on her fear of losing it all in a sad but mature state of mind. No need for a climax.
omg this is such a thorough analysis i love it
I waited for the climax throughout the whole song until I understood that. I can't agree more!
@@IanaraLopes omg same. I was like where's the "drop" but yeah when i listened again, i understood
Angelo Rinaldi i really like that

This song is so hypnotic. The lyrics are like listening to a story and feeling her experience behind the music.
The way she sings, "Who could stay?" three times starting at 2:53 and emphasizes each word differently each time is 100% perfection.
2 times
But agree
@@emiliawilson4378 Thank you for catching my mistake! The part I meant was when she sings 'Who could stay?' Three times before the 2 'You could stay' lines!

it was a spiritual experience
The melody reminds me of This love.
The instrumental reminds me of her heartbeats from Wildest dreams' background.
1989 is now having her baby sister!
Sounds like getaway car to me
@@luna_writes Oh yeah the chorus has the tempo of Getaway car. Additionally, I think it's "teardrops on my guitar" when she sings the first line of the song.
@@luna_writes A little bit of CAY too :)
It reminds me of Welcome to New York but in a sad, vunerable, insecure way
It has little feels of many songs I think, you can get a feel of getaway car, delicate, wildest dreams... A lot of them

i know most people dislike this song, but it holds a very special place in my heart.
my crush’s middle name is Archer, i love him so much. and the reason why this song is so special to me is not just cause it has his middle name in it, but this album also released around the time i met him.
i had horrible separation anxiety, i was terrified to be away from my family. i was failing school as well, and my parents decided to put me in a class for after school. and my crush’s mom was the teacher of the class, and that’s how i met him.
my mom had just left me there outside the building, and i was sitting outside crying on the sidewalk in the summer heat, he saw me through the window and came over and gently said “hi, are you okay?”
and i just shook my head, still crying.
and he just hugged me.
the reason why this was such a big deal was because i was having an absolutely horrible year. i hit puberty, i had no friends, and i was failing school.
and nobody ever hugged me like he did then, i felt actually cared for in that moment.
he took my hand and led me inside, and his brother was just sitting at one of the tables.
and we went over and sat down, and he introduced me to his brother.
and all of us from then on became best friends.
the only reason i have an appreciation for 2019 is because that’s when i met him.
and honestly i’m so thankful that i was put in that class, because if not i wouldn’t have ever met him.
i love you, jackson.
it’s almost like through song she’s writing in her diary, about her secrets, struggles, fears, and at the end she snaps it shut, ending the song so abruptly
so true!!!!! Ayna Gupta
Perfect wow
like a archer too...she is preparing herself to shoot it and then there's silence
This song has Jack Antonoff written all over it. He co-wrote it and produced it. Can definitely hear his influence in it
Aaron Fortier people can write about the same thing for a long time, even if jack influenced this a lot she has talked about writing this song and she writes all her songs
