- The end has come, and it will be beautiful! For my final achievement hunting session of Endwalker, I decided to crack open the sightseeing log and have a nice, relaxing trip around Eorzea. Or so I thought... See you idiots in Dawntrail! Here's to another expansion and new achievements in Final Fantasy XIV!

Fun fact : There's a painter guy at The Hard Place (Adkiragh's place) that will sell you pics of every Sightseeing vista you have unlocked to use in Picture frames for housing.
If you unlock all the Pics for an expansion, he also has 'bonus' oil pics too that aint in the sightseeing long.
Also also. if you right click an item in his vender list you can bring up a sub menu that allows you to preview what the pic looks like before purchase :)

ARR sightseeing log has second, hidden part after first 20, with more elaborate riddles to solve. Those vistas only show at right time, weather and place, which makes them hard to find and time consuming. You can ofc follow the guide, but you still need time and/or weather right.

It never even occurred to me to take a porter. Every time I had to pray, return to the Waking Sands, I did it on foot.
Listening to you talk about zones you're nostalgic about reminded me. There's a defense FATE in North Shroud, at Hyrstmill, where some opo-opos attack sacks of mun-tuy beans. That was the first place I died in my playthrough. I grabbed aggro on all the opo-opos and just wasn't paying attention to my health. As an ACN main, I *had* the tools to solo it, I just hadn't encountered anything that was actually threatening up to that point.
Lalachievements score 16,540. I picked up Well-oiled: Amazing Manderville Harp Bow, just had causality to spend. And incidentally got The Customer Is Always Right: Zhloe Aliapoh III. Uneventful, but a little better than my nothing last week.
I love the lochs too! The underwater zones fill me with that thalassophobia but in a good way. And the daytime music makes you so ready to storm the city.
7:32 well, there is a world boss spwan there, Coeurlregina. And it's funny that at 13:50 that is a Coeurlgarina weather 😂

That's the one place I've NEVER seen her spawn. She spawns pretty much anywhere. lol
@@keybladebanditjing I've seen her there a few times. There's the second fight in the chain where she spawns in other places but that place is one of the third fight spots.

I started right before a moogle tomestone event occured, and once it showed up I immediately began grinding for the Magitek Predator mount. It was the first tomestone event where that was available, and I am a huge FFVI fan, so I was very happy to have an easy route to get that.

An excellent way to welcome the new Dawn ^.^ The death poles of Kugane and Eulmore bring back memories.
My favorite Shadowbringers zone is Il Mheg. Exploring the underwater ruins of Voeburt + listening to "Fierce and Free" = the best questing experience in the expansion.
Man, that Vasper Bay chocobo ride.... core memory unlocked.
This has been a great series, though this episode especially was very nice. The last couple months I've had to put XIV down due to moving into a new place and figuring out what kind of budget I need to have and I've really been missing everything about it. As it turns out, Cider and I started playing the game right around the same time in Shadowbringers, so watching these videos gives me a perspective from someone who's experienced the game in the same state I have. Getting an episode where he just runs around the zones of the game that were particularly nostalgic for him actually brought me back to my first hours as well, especially considering I also started in Limsa and spent a ton of time doing ARR Tribals. Anyway, all this was to say, thanks Cider. This one was great.
I just want to say seeing this pop up made me happy I cleared sightseeing zone by zone as I cleared the story content. Stay strong cider, stay strong.
That stupid ship cost me an hour back in the day. I really thought I was missing something before I finally asked an FC member to fly me up, so I could do my Scholar quest. So dumb!

That tiny little Island at 22:22 is called 'The Last Remnant'
Now Recall WHO it was that built Azys Lla - Amon, and what did he Remember - Elpis - (Azys Lla is basically a twisted version of Elpis)
Also Elidibus told us that barely anything of Elpis Survives in the Present day and that we wouldn't recognise it...
Now why would Amon have a tiny piece of Rock (call The Last Remnant) held up by a massive support machine, and also be the highest object (and generally the placed 'hight' of an object tends to imply it's importance) that can be seen from anywhere in the zone....

Central Shroud is my most nostalgic zone. I started in 2.0 as a lancer, but after having difficulty staying alive right away, I wanted to try a healer. I had to buy potions just to survive the level 10 lancer quest, finished it out, switched to conjurer, and I've been a white mage main ever since.

don't know if you mention it in the video but after you unlock the individual sightseeing entries you can buy paintings of each vista from the painter in idyllshire

12:40 The reason they look jumbled up is that there were two sightseeing log drops in HW. So the 6 HW zones are in order, it's just the order is repeated an extra time for the 2nd drop.
I like to do sightseeing while DPS queueing. Also, sorting emotes by name saved my sanity.

Shows you how much I pay attention to the game, but I never realised one of the Crystarium sightseeing log points was called "Rapture", which was the codename for the original city used in the 1.0 trailer. which eventually turned into Limsa, and whose styles were brought back for the Crystarium.
Only reason I know this is from Speakers of Hydaelyn and Lukile's fantastic reaction to when he first saw the Crystarium in a trailer.

The reason you see Forelands on different pages is because Vista Points were added in groups in different patches, and they are ordered by when they were added
Oh, skydiving. If there's one thing I miss from my WoW days, it's bubble skydiving as paladin.
Also, playing gnome golf off of the entrance to Naxx while waiting for the raid to start.
Ala Mhigo is a likely candidate for new player housing!
Given it is the last capital city in Eurozia. As well the previous housing District in Ishgard was proceeded by a rebuilding effort (Firmament). It would make sense for our characters to be invited to rebuild and make homes in Ala Mhigo.
Yumcax and Yggdreants in general were FFXI monsters introduced in the Seekers of Adoulin expansion. Yumcax itself was the Naakual of Earth located in the Yorcia Weald. Yggdreants in FFXI make the XIV version look like a toy for babies.
The first time I learned what the devs can do with map restructuring is a friend taking me to the extrusion atop the Alexander dome before I started that content and realizing they convert a rock into that

At the render distance about the vista orbs: the game determines render distance by camera so it can exclude (occlude) things not in camera. The more you know
I did the arr sightseeing log right after I gained flight back when I first started and over 200 minions later the fledgling apkallu is still my rarest.
The coliseum in the Dravanian Forelands is where the last battle of the Coeurlregina FATE chain takes place
Finding all the new sightseeing points is one my favorite things about exploring a new zone! Except ARR points.... those were hell

Also most sightseeing spots after A Realm Reborn mostly required /lookout, but a few required /pray or something else. Also, I'm surprised you never saw that spot in Sohm Ahl as it's RIGHT IN YOUR FACE AS YOU COMPLETE THE QUEST TO UNLOCK SOHM AHL'S DUNGEON! XD

The confusion you're feeling for being sure you've found them somewhere but the game still having one there / not finding it in the log, HW and SB added a second round of sightseeing logs and those appear *after* the initial expac's logs, by number.
Posted an hour before launch 🙃 gave me something to watch pre release. Love it.

Square Enix Added additional sightseeing logs in later during the patch cycle for each expac starting with HW. So the zones will be split in the log.
Every time I hear about someone who rode to Vesper Bay from Horizon I die inside wishing they'd have known about the ferry from Limsa that goes straight there

Glad I got here before maint ended and I had to risk spoilers in the comments. Can't play for another day and 6ish hours cause I'm playing with my best friend and their work had to call them in on their approved vacation (they at least got a few weeks warning that it couldn't happen and extra days off in recompense). I hope it's a good time everybody.
Had my sleep already haha got up early this morning had a 4 hour nap and ready to go.
The sightseeing logs are pretty easy these days, the arr ones were painful as anything, but now you can fly and drop on the spot most of the time, its just a waiting game.
The only 2 I haven't gotten are the Kugane tower ones, I haven't tried that hard to do it though
Unfortunately my laptop does not meet the minimum requirements, so my achievement hunting is on temporary hiatus for a few months until I can upgrade my laptop. I've only 100%ed ARR's log because there's a minion you get. I'm glad they added vista markers in Heavensward. I wish they'd add them to ARR's vistas.

Totally agree about the Ala Mhigan quarter. I hope that, when they give us the expansion that unlocks corvos/the rest of ilsabard, the first cityin the xpac is real ala mhigo.

So about the whole "not knowing what emote to use" thing. If you look at your log, it'll actually give you a hint as to which you need to use. For example, at 23:16, one says "I looked out upon the realm in all her glory", while the next says "I allowed myself a moment's doze". If you have 4 left, and 3 of them say "look out", then the one you find where /lookout doesn't work should then in turn work with /doze, since it's the one that matches, as shown at 24:26.
Just as a little heads-up to save a bit of time come DT's sightseeing.

For me, my fave EW zone is Mare Lamentorum, but not bunnies area. Everything else about the map, plus the OST, is just perfect in my eyes. Garlemald is a very close second, and then Ultima Thule. Shadowbringers, I honestly didn't like any of them besides the Amaurot section of The Tempest, because the rest of it was so under-utilized. Then my favorite zone is in Stormblood, and that is the Azim Steppe. Something about it always hits me in the feels. BUT, Mare came oh so close to overcoming it... if not for the damn bunny section. Heavensward, hilariously enough, Sea of Clouds, and I would love housing there! Fiight me for it! Lastly, More Donuts, I mean, Mhor Dona will always have a place in my heart, as I spent sooo many hours there in 2.0. Second favorite is Southern Thanalan, but that is because of Forgotten Springs and the Cat Girl who loves lizards, I mean, the Amaljaa questline.
