You should try a maths AA HL paper as well! That is usually what the more maths-oriented students take. My personal favorite paper, is paper 3, which is more about mathematical thinking than the other papers
The thing is that when we take these exams, we’re very prepared for them. Then you go onto more advanced stuff, coming back after a decade of not using that “easy” stuff, can be challenging at times 😂
Request to possibly try out the Chinese math Gaokao? (after someone translate it of course) My mother was a math teacher in China who taught at the high school level, I think it would be interesting to see what you think about the test.
You should try the Irish A level equivalent. It’s roughly the same difficulty from comparing papers, so you might have a fun time with it. It’s called the “Leaving Certificate,” whereas our GCSE equivalent would be the “Junior certificate”
I actually graduated and got my IB diploma in spring of 2022, watching this gave me flashbacks and the maths paper was even more difficult for me because I went through 3 different maths teachers and the third wasn’t even trained to teach IB, yet was somehow the best IB maths teacher I’ve had. I loved and hated the IB programme and I would probably do it all over again with the opportunities it opened up for me. It’s also super funny because I was in SL AI (standard level) and watching him take the HL looks so much easier than what I did for SL 😭😭
1:46:00 "... formula for the mean, award A1 for correct *equation* " (emphasis mine). So basically the points are given for over-complicating the matter? My initial reaction to the question (without knowing the grading technique) would be (admittedly slightly tainted by some fondness for simplistic linear algebra) that the relevant values are how many answers are below and above the mean, ignoring the "2"-answers (that *is* the mean) and "3"-answers (that is k, and also "3" just happens to be one more than "2") the distances from "2" are [-2, -1, +2, +3, +4] with corresponding numbers [20, 24, 10, 3, 1], and guess what, [-2, -1, +2, +3, +4] * [20, 24, 10, 3, 1]' = -31. edit: emphasis.
I chuckled when you got to the part about the bird - Bulbul means penis in my mother language. Yes, I know it's a bird's name, but I didn't know it was known by that name internationally. I need to grow up.
As a suggestion to the future, the formula booket showcased in the video 1.1 is not the official one due to mistankes fx incorrect formula for the sum of an infinite geometry sequences and forgetting the HL binomial expansion formula. Therefore I would advice anyone include you to look for the 1.3 math formula as that is the official by IB Besides that great video
That was really fascinating, and had no idea what you were solving but totally appreciate seeing how you reasoned through it! Quick Question, Tom...I am a retired civil servant and knew the people who wrote Policy at the Provincial level (Canada) for their respective Ministries, certainly with Masters, MBA and PHD certifications (as us lesser academic plebes needing to ultimately understand/interpret them haha). Question: Who, & how many....writes these HIgh School examinations? Are they High School Teachers, University Profs, Gov't Ministry employees with MA or PHD? I'm curious because, you are a very learned and high achiever, you were challenged here, do the people writing the exams have a standard curriculum in mind for 16,17 yr olds when it definitely challenged a mind like yours. I guess what I'm wondering is...who are, and how do, the writers determine what questions are Level appropriate and what are most likely their credentials....does my question make sense? (fyi Subbed and Thumbed!)
Hi can you try the Egyptian 3 secondary pure math test it is brutal or est test it is a test specialised for the American diploma in Egypt it is so similarly to the sat but harder in math
Hi Tom, thanks for the content. Do you have the guts to try a Putnam paper live, sight unseen? I am told that this series of papers is as tough as it gets for 'ordinary' maths!
Definitely give the AA (Analysis & Approaches) HL papers a try! AA HL is the more common pick for mathematics interested students and is maybe a bit more difficult as well. Paper 3 is also very unique so you should maybe try AA HL Paper 1 and Paper 3. At any rate, I enjoyed the video a lot as per usual. Thanks for the math content Tom 🤍
I'm just being an ass, can you solve 2 x 2 = x ? I do remember how the video game pong was realized in the 1960's and then became very popular in the 1970's.

Love what you are doing to make maths enjoyable, relevant and easy to understand for students.....the Brian Cox of maths!!
Why 🤔

Try the AA HL one Tom. It's more difficult and more students tend to take it
You should try a Math AAHL Paper. AIHL is considered “easier” compared to AAHL. If you’re up for a harder challenge, try the AAHL Papers
Please do AA(Analysis and Approaches) HL next
please do the Analysis and Approaches HL exam! its pure-maths focuses, and slight more challenging. you could try paper 1 and paper 3.
You should check out the Analysis and Approaches IB HL exam, its a more pure math oriented (and harder) hl math course.
Brilliant.
Thank you, Tom
You skipped the instructions at the start, “Answer any 6 questions” haha. Q1 systematic sampling I think.
please do AA HL paper as well, i'm taking that next year.
Request to possibly try out the Chinese math Gaokao? (after someone translate it of course) My mother was a math teacher in China who taught at the high school level, I think it would be interesting to see what you think about the test.
Push this
5:56
It s systematic sampling

I just wrote a comment for him to try this years paper 1 in maths 😅
Please do a IB analysis and approaches Higher Level (HL) exam!
But that's the highest level
tom took the application and interpretation HL exam
@@wah3271 how'd he do
@@rebelsouljazliterally in the video 106/110
Please take Australia’s specialist maths 3/4 exam!!!
You should try the other maths subject, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches. This is honestly like playing in easy mode 😂😂😂
Lmao that's so accurate
I had the luck of having my exams scheduled for may 2020. First and only time IB exams were cancelled lmfao
Awesome
Amazing 🎉 Now try Mathematics Applications and Analysis Higher Level :D (MAA HL). Keep up the e work ❤
Great math dude your taking mathematics to the next frontier

I think you should do the UKMT (The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) exam as it is coming up and quite a challenge
luv ur vidz
You should try out the IB Math Analysis and Approaches HL Paper 1 and 3 (both without calculators)!
I chuckled when you got to the part about the bird - Bulbul means penis in my mother language. Yes, I know it's a bird's name, but I didn't know it was known by that name internationally. I need to grow up.
Try Math AAHL paper 3, it's very much about abstract math thinking and can be challenging
As a suggestion to the future, the formula booket showcased in the video 1.1 is not the official one due to mistankes fx incorrect formula for the sum of an infinite geometry sequences and forgetting the HL binomial expansion formula. Besides that great video
You are referring to the formula booklet for AA. The formula booklet for AI has only 1 version.
It's interesting that they use the word 'gradient' instead of 'slope.' I wonder which is more common?
Probably gradient once you pass a certain level
1c) was systematic sampling as every nth person was being picked
Do the Math AA exam !!
That was really fascinating, and had no idea what you were solving but totally appreciate seeing how you reasoned through it!

Please do a video on the Irish leaving cert maths paper higher level - paper 1 or 2. Slightly more challenging than A level
IB way more challenging than A level. 😊
try math AA HL, that one really is a monster
You should try IMO problems in the next videos!
Try paper 3 IB AA HL - maybe a contender for the STEP exam
Hi can you try the Egyptian 3 secondary pure math test it is brutal or est test it is a test specialised for the American diploma in Egypt it is so similarly to the sat but harder in math
Should do math A A HL, that’s harder in IB
Hi Tom, thanks for the content. Do you have the guts to try a Putnam paper live, sight unseen? I am told that this series of papers is as tough as it gets for 'ordinary' maths!
AI HL is a very simple test.. Do AA HL it is slightly more challenging :)

Try an AA HL paper pretty tough
Definitely give the AA (Analysis & Approaches) HL papers a try! AA HL is the more common pick for mathematics interested students and is maybe a bit more difficult as well. Paper 3 is also very unique so you should maybe try AA HL Paper 1 and Paper 3.

i think a vinculum is a long straight line used in fractions and in some countries to represent recurring decimal expansions
Do you use programming with your math in your day-to-day?
Do AA HL IB math paper
I'm just being an ass, can you solve 2 x 2 = x ? I do remember how the video game pong was realized in the 1960's and then became very popular in the 1970's.
