FIRS TIME ON A CRUISER - BMW R18

My first thoughts of the R18 - the first cruiser motorcycle I've ever ridden!
Beautiful and elegant but heavy and full of character. Do let me know what motorcycle you'd like to see next!

You’ve got to ride the bike differently to a multi cylinder sports bike, short shift into high gears so the rpm’s come right down, everything smooths out and you waft along on the torque. You have to relax and chill out more, if you want speed everywhere you really are on the wrong bike. Rock is the most visceral mode, the engine is very ‘alive’. I love mine.

Absolutely, it’s got a lot of character and I can see why you’d love it. Honestly the biggest gripe I have is that there seems to be a bit of an identity crisis… it is big and heavy yet fast and quite agile thanks to such low center of gravity. However, I wouldn’t want to tour on it due to the lack of a windshield, while at the same time I’d prefer other types of bikes for more spirited riding. But hey, to each their own :)
