Don't Be a Sucker! is a short educational film produced by the U.S. War Department in 1943 and re-released in 1947. The film depicts the rise of Nazism in Germany and warns Americans against repeating the mistakes of intolerance made in Nazi Germany. It emphasizes that Americans will lose their country if they let themselves be turned into "suckers" by the forces of fanaticism and hatred. The film was made to make the case for the desegregation of the United States armed forces by simply revealing the connection between prejudice and fascism.
This film is not propaganda. To the contrary, it teaches how to recognize and reject propaganda, as was used by the Nazis to promote to bigotry and intimidation. It shows how prejudice can be used to divide the population to gain power. Far more significantly, it then shows how such tactics can be defanged by friendly persuasion; that protection of liberty is a unifying and practical way to live peacefully.
    Plot:
A young American Free Mason is taken in by the message of a soap-box orator who asserts that all good jobs in the United States are being taken by the so-called minorities, domestic and foreign. He falls into a conversation with Hungarian professor who witnessed the rise of Nazism in Berlin and who tells him of the pattern of events that brought Hitler to power in Germany and how Germany's anti-democratic groups split the country into helpless minorities, each hating the other. The professor concludes by pointing out that America is composed of many minorities, but all are united as Americans.
    HISTORICAL BACKGROUND / CONTEXT
Nazi Germany is the common English name for the period in German history from 1933 to 1945, when Germany was governed by a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP). Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a fascist state in which the Nazi Party took totalitarian control over nearly all aspects of life. The official name of the state was Deutsches Reich from 1933 to 1943 and Großdeutsches Reich ("Greater German Reich") from 1943 to 1945. The period is also known under the names the Third Reich (German: Drittes Reich) and the National Socialist Period (German: Zeit des Nationalsozialismus, abbreviated as NS-Zeit). The Nazi regime came to an end after the Allied Powers defeated Germany in May 1945, ending World War 2 in Europe.
Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by the President of the Weimar Republic Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933. The Nazi Party then began to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate its power. Hindenburg died on 2 August 1934, and Hitler became dictator of Germany by merging the powers and offices of the Chancellery and Presidency. A national referendum held 19 August 1934 confirmed Hitler as sole Führer (leader) of Germany. All power was centralized in Hitler's person, and his word became above all laws.
Racism, especially antisemitism, was a central feature of the regime. The Germanic peoples (the Nordic race) were considered by the Nazis to be the purest branch of the Aryan race, and were therefore viewed as the master race. Millions of Jews and other peoples deemed undesirable by the state were murdered in the Holocaust. Opposition to Hitler's rule was ruthlessly suppressed. Members of the liberal, socialist, and communist opposition were killed, imprisoned, or exiled. The Christian churches were also oppressed, with many leaders imprisoned. Education focused on racial biology, population policy, and fitness for military service. Career and educational opportunities for women were curtailed. Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels made effective use of film, mass rallies, and Hitler's hypnotizing oratory to control public opinion. The government controlled artistic expression, promoting specific art forms and banning or discouraging others.
Following the Allied invasion of Normandy (6 June, 1944), Germany was conquered by the Soviet Union from the east and the other Allied powers from the west and capitulated within a year. The victorious Allies initiated a policy of denazification and put many of the surviving Nazi leadership on trial for war crimes at the Nuremberg trials.

time for some paradigm breaking revelations - the history of eurocentric culture is just different parts of europe doing the same general things. consolidating wealth, enslaving the world, pretending they own the world and feeling entitled to any wealth anyone else might be able to generate. the excuses they give themselves to justify these behaviors are nearly identical too. just replace the name of the country and their past will be filled with little more than copious slaughter and unnecessary suffering. turns out, when you let psychopaths direct society, it turns into a bloodlust murderfest. every single time. because they will go to any length to protect their stolen, undue power.

Sad thing is, this still holds true today. If a struggle of people doesn't affect me, then I don't care and don't concern myself with it. Only when they come for me, I start to speak out. People then get a sense of, well, if you don't help to fix the problem, then you must be by default part of the problem. It's easy then to look at others as the "enemy". It's a sad thing to witness.

And gee I wonder who has been pushing a one world agenda for hundreds of years, it couldn’t have been the poor people we let out of camps who happened to also be in all of the Allies political structure during the war and that currently have more representation in our government and American elites than they did in Russia during Stalins Soviet era. Guys this is literally government propaganda from the 40s designed to make the public think a certain way and you’re internalizing it. Racial awareness is not taught; it’s learned. Often through experience. Like after the tenth time you’re beaten in the streets by a black or Mexican gang you learn that the 40s propaganda was a lie.

      @k1ng401 3 года назад +329

@@peachnehi8683 A person who experienced that should be anti-gang or anti-crime. Instead, that normal hatred of injustice has been twisted in some to becoming anti-black and anti-Mexican even though most blacks and Mexicans are innocent of those crimes, just as most whites are. The race of a perp has become this person’s focus instead of the perp’s character. Instead of “I hate criminals who beat me up” he thinks “I hate blacks, I hate Mexicans”. It’s a gut reaction, a trick of the brain to protect him by putting the biggest wall possible between him and the danger. If, his brain says, “all blacks or all Mexicans are dangerous”, it’s easier to put his walls up to protect himself. He doesn’t have to get close enough to a person to work out their CHARACTER and know if they are dangerous, he can see their colour or race from a distance and take steps. All racism is derived from fear and the brain’s attempt to deal with that fear in the simplest most complete way possible: A black man hurt you? Avoid all black men from now on. Try to reduce their power to hurt you in the future by suppressing them or expelling them. All of them, because you don’t know who the bad ones are. That’s how the racist brain thinks. It’s simple and effective, if you have the power. Which the Nazi’s did.

You know what other propaganda film Warmer Brothers made that same year in 1943? Mission To Moscow. I'll save you the time of laying out the plot (you can watch it since you're so enamored with pro-Marxist, anti-Christian propaganda), but its main points were pointing out what a great man and leader Josef Stalin was, and how happy people were in the Soviet Union under communism. Meanwhile, also in 1943, the Germans found the mass graves of over 20,000 Poles who were executed in mass graves, killed by the barbaric Soviet NKVD. Your own government knew the truth, and still lied to you and blamed the deaths on the Germans, all while producing pro Soviet films from Warner Brothers. Any seemingly successful business is run out/given to a member of the fascist regime. In Nazi Germany, any successful business run by a jewish person would either be shut down or run into the ground by a german who has no idea how to run that business. I can see how some of the right benefit from fascism, being that fascism is right wing, but it wouldn't benefit any right winger who isn't fascist. Any libertarian capitalist who doesn't want the government to run his business is screwed. And, of course, any rich people who aren't part of the regime will have their wealth taken away. So only certain rich people benefit. To clarify, I hate fascism. I am not defending it. But I am a right winger, in the sense that I am a libertarian capitalist type. My argument is that fascism only benefits fascists, and the vast majority of right wingers have more in common with democrats than fascists. I'm sure the left, with stalinism is in the same boat, but I'm not a leftist, so I don't know.

Im sure everyone will come over and say "You are wrong! Its Left/Right that are dividing!", but they will prove my point. Rather then to work together with so called "bad side" they are more interest to outright destroy them rather then to talk and cooperate, making compromises like civilized people.
Also, it aint problem unique to USA, its a problem happening in every democratic country. What ever people acknowledge it or not.

My issue as a leftist with this bothsidesism ppl love to engage in is that you say work together but we are getting to the point in this country where "work together" with the right would just be working with the Nazis. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We aren't super close to slipping into a communist hellscape like Republicans like to claim, but we are dangerously close to the far right extreme of fascism and authoritarianism, and I can't work with that bc to work with them I'd have to go along with the migrant and gay hating, otherwise I'm "part of the problem."
I love my inlaws, but they voted for Trump bc they are literally this guy in the video, and they haven't gotten to the "hey wait a minute, he's talking about ME and my family" part. And like typical conservatives, until that rhetoric affects them or their family members, they just can't be bothered to care about the ppl being "otherized" by Trump and the Republican party, no matter how many times I've tried to explain that even if you aren't empathetic enough to care about others, then think of it from a selfish perspective bc one day they will very likely find a reason to come for you and then it'll be too late. But they just don't think it can happen here (as it's literally happening before our dang eyes) or they think it just can't happen to them.

Not just the USA. There is a palpable rise in right wing action in many places. Eastern Europe for one, which is a rare grain of truth in Putin's several 'reasons' to invade Ukraine (by sneak attack, same as Hitler). Meanwhile, the republican party in the USA (Trump) embraced the right wing/Neo-Nazi groups in order to grow their party and infect as many simple American sucker brains as possible - that's how Trump won in 2016. Simple fact is this is cyclic. Right wingers had their time in the sun back in the 50s. Then the liberals rose up, delivering more women's rights, legal abortion which rambled on a while as we wrestled with our war in Vietnam and the aftermath leading to a softer right wing reaction with Ronald Reagan Make America Great Again. First black President was a shot across the bow for the right wingers and worse, Obama basically tossed the keys to the kingdom to the gays, fruits and nuts his last 2 years in office and that was too much. And that's how we got Trump, who's an even dumber right wing reaction than GW Bush was. I never cared much for Joe Biden at any point, but I'll take him any day of the week over Trump, and twice on Sunday.

@Medovukha What the hell are you babbling on about? Those white supremacist, nazi scum buckets arrived ready for battle. They were dressed in military gear, carrying weapons, ready to fight!
They came from all around the country, threatening to take over Charlottesville.
      They chanted nazi slogans!
They rammed a line of riot cops, pushing against them in an effort to breach the barricades!
They drove a car into a crowd, a terrorist act to be sure.
These white supremacist nazi scumbags are terrorists!
Enough with the false equivalency bullshit!

Frank D Reagan cut taxes. The result was a 15 year surge in our economy which went through the Clinton Presidency. The Clintons had nothing to do with it. Yet being the politicians that they are, they took credit for it. When taxes are cut Americans are free to invest invest and buy. It creates more jobs. More people are working so more people pay taxes. The economy surges in a positive way. That is the truth. High taxes stifle the economy.
