Both pieces are terrific. The ladder I found to be especially pleasing. I love a piece that grabs the attention of the user. I built a small cantilevered deck on my old shop (looked like it hung on nothing) that drove my neighbor nuts. He always threatened to put a post under the corner 🤪 I enjoy your commentary and humor. Firstly, congratulations on the 100k subscribers, Nick! I still feel that your channel should have many many more based on the quality of your work, the quality of your videos and your ability to tell a compelling story. Secondly, those are some steamy furniture pieces you made there. I think my favourite is the library ladder. Your use of grain direction and curves in wood is really impressive. It has give me inspiration and a really good idea for a workshop step stool.
Another beautiful set of pieces. I recently also did some bending to replace the pieces of a round dining table I'm building. I was trying to route a 2 inch thick ring of hickory with the router attached to a center point when on the final pass the router had other plans... I thought I was going to have to shoot it to stop it! What a mess! Bending in retrospect is much safer and turned out looking better than I thought. I always look forward to your videos, keep them coming.
Love Sam Maloof's stuff. I am a sucker for his elegant classic designs. I'm a potter and it helps that he was best buddies with one of my favorite potters, Harrison McIntosh. You should be proud of your own design skills, too! It's one thing to see an amazing craftsman at work, it's quite another to see a master craftsman make really innovative things.

And sometimes I’m thinking “this is a skill I need to learn”. But your work goes beyond where I will ever take my hobby. My absolute favorite RUclips project from anyone to date .... and there's a lot of cool stuff. Does the steam bending make the wood more like a noodle? Bending in all directions. Also, didn't realize wood working was so raunchy. I wear a hoodie and dark sunglasses to go to my shop now. 😎

Congrats on breaking 100k, it's well deserved! I always look forward to your videos, educational while being entertaining. The pieces you design are inspiring and motivate me to push myself in the shop.
For a steam box I found you can use ducting and end caps, that way you can make it as long as you need and then take it apart instead of having a big box taking up space when you don’t need it all the time.
I follow some cool woodworkers, but you really push it when it comes to design, especially complex designs. I respect that you do not seem to compromise your vision to make your projects easier. I am literally at this moment in the midst of assembling an Avid CNC 4x4 machine. If I worked at Avid, I would 100% sling you a free system because of what I wrote earlier: you do not shy away from complexity. So many of my favorite RUclips woodworkers use a CNC like mine to cut 2D+, which is fine. But a CNC machine seems like the place where it might shine the brightest is in the milling of compound joints that you mentioned can add up to big gaps and variances. With a 4th axis on an Avid CNC, I expect we would see you showing off more of what such a machine is capable of beyond simply mimicking the cuts of more traditional tools, even power tools. I hope Avid reaches out to you and you two get some love going. I hope you build your base/table in such a way that you can fixture boards at precise, nonstandard angles. I want to see what you would come up with and also learn from you and be inspired too in this regard because compound angles and joints interfacing form different directions appear in your work more than any other RUclips channel I follow. I want to build things that, if someone saw what I made two generations from now, both the layman and the indoctrinated would both at least raise an eyebrow at the general impression of the piece as well as the work/planning that went into it. Your projects like this one absolutely check that box. Nothing wrong with building a simple box from another man's plan, but your efforts always seem to reach way beyond convention. That is real-deal inspiring to me.
Hope to get a chance to explore the possibilities of CNC! Definitely trying to push the comfort level a little every time. Glad to be sharing the spark man and appreciate you taking the time
Hope you do really well learning checkering. My dad used to make beautiful walnut gunstocks and forearm pieces with that very detailed, beautiful checkering. I was always amazed at how delicate and detailed they turned out. I'm very proud to say my dad was somewhat of an artist when it came to building gunstocks and forearm pieces from scratch.
That’s really cool! I used to shoot competition sporting clays and was always impressed by the fineness and detail in mine, but especially in the high end italian stocks. Really a beautiful art form.

I love both pieces. The lamp is great and will look good in any setting. The step stool, library or kitchen. Some people just don’t understand the time that goes into bespoke furniture and why it costs so much. I’m happy you mentioned the timeframe of 3 months into the ladder project. Maybe non makers can start to understand. Huge fan of your work. Just wish I was as good and had your design portion of your brain. Want to schedule a transplant. Lol
Another routine design and build Nick😳…absolutely beautiful! Here’s a vote for a video / training on sharpening. I’ve switched from diamond stones to Shapton whetstones & glass, which has helped, but based on the ribbons you make, it’s obvious I’m missing something. Thanks for all you do and share!

I really like this hand sock idea. I have some prototypes I’ve been working on. I’ve brain stormed some name ideas. So far I have gloves, mittens, and gauntlet. I think we could make a killing on this idea.
Check out This Old Tony for a video on chequering. He goes into quite a bit of detail and trial and error also, when applying the technique (for the first time) to a Rifle stock. Oh, and also, his videos are great and he's hilarious!

For a steam box I found you can use ducting and end caps, that way you can make it as long as you need and then take it apart instead of having a big box taking up space when you don’t need it all the time.

I follow some cool woodworkers, but you really push it when it comes to design, especially complex designs. I respect that you do not seem to compromise your vision to make your projects easier.
I am literally at this moment in the midst of assembling an Avid CNC 4x4 machine. If I worked at Avid, I would 100% sling you a free system because of what I wrote earlier: you do not shy away from complexity.
So many of my favorite RUclips woodworkers use a CNC like mine to cut 2D+, which is fine. But a CNC machine seems like the place where it might shine the brightest is in the milling of compound joints that you mentioned can add up to big gaps and variances. With a 4th axis on an Avid CNC, I expect we would see you showing off more of what such a machine is capable of beyond simply mimicking the cuts of more traditional tools, even power tools. I hope Avid reaches out to you and you two get some love going. I hope you build your base/table in such a way that you can fixture boards at precise, nonstandard angles. I want to see what you would come up with and also learn from you and be inspired too in this regard because compound angles and joints interfacing form different directions appear in your work more than any other RUclips channel I follow.
I want to build things that, if someone saw what I made two generations from now, both the layman and the indoctrinated would both at least raise an eyebrow at the general impression of the piece as well as the work/planning that went into it. Your projects like this one absolutely check that box. Nothing wrong with building a simple box from another man's plan, but your efforts always seem to reach way beyond convention. That is real-deal inspiring to me.

Hope you do really well learning checkering. My dad used to make beautiful walnut gunstocks and forearm pieces with that very detailed, beautiful checkering. I was always amazed at how delicate and detailed they turned out. I'm very proud to say my dad was somewhat of an artist when it came to building gunstocks and forearm pieces from scratch.
That’s really cool! I used to shoot competition sporting clays and was always impressed by the fineness and detail in mine, but especially in the high end italian stocks. Really a beautiful art form.

Once again you just exceeded all expectations with this. All the angles and curves in this had to be daunting, for me it would scare the crap out of me to even attempt it... but I am tired of staying in my comfort zone.

I love both pieces. The lamp is great and will look good in any setting. The step stool, library or kitchen. Some people just don’t understand the time that goes into bespoke furniture and why it costs so much. I’m happy you mentioned the timeframe of 3 months into the ladder project. Maybe non makers can start to understand. Huge fan of your work. Just wish I was as good and had your design portion of your brain. Want to schedule a transplant. Lol

Another routine design and build Nick😳…absolutely beautiful! Here’s a vote for a video / training on sharpening. I’ve switched from diamond stones to Shapton whetstones & glass, which has helped, but based on the ribbons you make, it’s obvious I’m missing something. Thanks for all you do and share!

I really like this hand sock idea. I have some prototypes I’ve been working on. I’ve brain stormed some name ideas. So far I have gloves, mittens, and gauntlet. I think we could make a killing on this idea.
