John, As I listened to this fire on both Manhattan Fire and FDNY DARS radio channels this past Friday night I imagined what it would be like to be there is person. Your video and reporting of this incident is excellent as usual and is definitely the next best thing to being there in person. You seem to have a unique talent of always finding the perfect angle to shoot from allowing your viewers to see where most of the action is taking place. Thank you once again for all you do on behalf of all your subscribers and fans on RUclips.
Great viewpoint! I really like the way that you combine long shots with closer shots. You're showing us the broad command perspective and gritty tactical fire tactics.
Getting better all the time John. It's amazing how you find the best spot for viewing! I was thinking of the guys inside the building. Dark outside, no lights inside but flashlights. Floors maybe burned thru in spots and add smoke to the mix. Has to be a really nerve racking kind of experience. Thanks John!
This building is still boarded up today, hopefully it doesn't get torn down. It was a pre civil war building and just outside the Tribeca historic district, so its not really protected from demolition.
Excellent video, yours are always the best! Hope the person that was injured is doing better, prayers up! NYPD is so dedicated so awesome in their job. They fascinate me in all they do.......RESPECT RESPECT RESPECT
Great filming John! One of your best. Great all around coverage. I love your radio in the back ground. It makes the coverage more exciding. Thanks John for sharing! Paul from Orange , Ma. USA ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Listened to this one all the way through on the radio. Just a report of smoke from the roof at first, the fire must have spread like a demon through the building! They said it was traveling through a shaft I believe. Really great footage as always, John, you always seem to know exactly where to go to get the unique angles! Stay safe!
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 me and my boyfriend mike enjoy your videos.watching from Cleveland Ohio...i thank you for your time filming our tru heroes..be safe out there john
The report said that it started in an exhaust duct which led from a ground floor restaurant to the roof. Evidently it was poorly maintained and allowed fires to start on nearly every floor.
great video and great angle at 11:30! Excellent video, John. I used to do this for a living, except on a much smaller scale. Was staff writer/photog for small newspapers in my area. Lots of grass fires. We don't have the high rises here and I think I'm grateful for that; never had to climb! Again, excellent coverage.
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 Oh yeah, I know what you all go through. Especially the Monday morning quarterback stuff. I did have a few structure fires I had to cover; one with a couple fatals. Never easy to deal with. But, you go on and do the best job you can and that's what I see with your videos. Be safe and try to stay out of the smoke!

Great Job. Be careful and please get the smoke out of your lungs. That is if you didnot have a cold. Enjoy the Holiday.
Great work by FF. Could have been much worse. Didn't understand the delay getting to the fire on roof, but be it far from me to second guess NY's finest. The video is the best as always!! Thanks for your great work.
YES, THEY HAD A PLAN TO DO THAT BILL BUT THERE WAS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT FIREFIGHTING GOING ON IN THE BUILDING WHICH HAD HEAVY FIRE INSIDE ON ALL FLOORS! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
John: Another super video, especially the roof top footage and the fireground audio. Much appreciate your efforts. By the way, heard you speaking Spanish early in the video. Another dimension to your many talents 😀

Hey John Happy New Year My Friend, From Anthony G in the 2nd city Chicago I know if I was on the roof where you were at. I would have been shouting down to those guys hey you got heavy fire here on the 4th floor. But I know they finally realized hey we got some fire over here. Because I looked ahead to around 17 minutes in. Way to get them good shots. Stay safe and bless you!

Once again, a superb John. Did you have a hook to get roof access? A really hot night for a job that big. Hope all the brothers are not badly injured. Keep up your fine work!
Do you have any idea why they take so long to start putting water in these fires? I've seen this in numerous fire videos, they're all hooked up but they don't start the water until it's more involved. I know they conduct searches but it just seems to take forever before water starts.
Glenonica- I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. When our friend Majesterium arrived at this fire, lines were already stretched into the building and operating. So do you mean the tower ladders? When you see tower ladders raised up but not flowing water, it means an interior attack is underway, which means no water applied from outside. The bucket may be up to access the roof, vent windows, make rescues, or just be ready for whatever assignment. When you see them start to flow later into the fire, it means the interior attack is being halted either temporarily or permanently, and that the tower ladders will now either knock down the fire enough to get an interior attack resumed, or else to completely extinguish the fire from outside. Hope this helps.
@@lincolnford7237 - He doesn't seem to understand that there were FF's inside doing an inside attack and clearing the building and that if you start dropping water into the building from the outside, you're going to create steam and start boiling those FF's who are inside.
You will never see me living in a high rise building (2 or more floors) for this very reason! I want to be ground level for a quick escape. Tribeca area in Manhattan is a very expensive area to live in. Actually, ALL of Manhattan is expensive. My cousin has a little studio apt. there and his rent is $1700 a month - not including utilities. No wonder so many live in the burbs or in NJ or out on LI and commute.
