So the “missile base” you went to is in my hometown, it’s one of several that were built in a circle around Plattsburgh when the Air Force base was there. It’s now used as town storage (and the building you went into currently houses a wrecked fire truck). The fort you visited is Fort Montgomery or “Fort Blunder” and was basically built backwards and never actually used. It’s an interesting story if you want to read up on it. The bridge pull off you stopped at when you first saw the fort is where my parents took some of their wedding photos so it was a bit surreal to come across this😅
i thought the fort was built in canada by mistake and the had to move the boarder line to bring it back into the us. iam not to far from the swanton alburgh bridge.
In vermont the best way to sneak in anywhere is to carry a fishing pole :) swimming holes .. rope swings ..quarry jumping .. in the 802 .. always a good time..find a local and they may lead to the ones not listed anywhere 😉
Dude, the fort was good shots. The Fort technically is in New York. I walked there 14 years ago when I still lived in Swanton. There is a site in Swanton, missle silo that DID house an Atlas ICBM and a Nuke war head. Larger than one dropped on Hiroshima. The silo is filled up with water, think its 100 more feet deep. A real horror memory. I was 15 when its doors opened and it was set to fly during Cuban Missile crisis.
Your pictures are absolutely beautiful. Just came upon your channel and I like your content. Im growing my hair out too and it’s uneven and I can’t wait till it at least will go in a ponytail. Lol
Mysteries of the abandoned...like your adventure photo documentary work...my mother's family is all "old Vermonter's"...they go back to 1640, & came up through Western Mass., & blazed a trail into Vt., also Abenaki on my great, great Grandmother's side. Some ancestors FAUGHT in the French, & Indian wars, Revolutionary war, and my Great, Great Grandfather in the Civil war....& other relatives in the modern wars to current. I'm interested in Vt. history...so keep up the adventures, & awsome photography...be safe too...
I've boated past that Alburgh Fort many many times and always just stared at it. Now I'll have to go look inside for myself! Also that Missile site was crazy!
missile base was part of the DEW Line, the fort is called Fort Blunder, built by mistake in Canada instead of US, got a treaty to move the line and put it in US. Rocks from the outside wall were used to build the causeway. The fort never saw action,
That missile site, which was part of the 556th missile Squadron, was operational from October 1961 through to March, 1965, then the dangerous, and slower-launching liquid-fueled missiles (which couldn't be fueled until after the launch order was given, due to safety concerns) became obsolete to the safer and quicker-launching solid-fueled Titan missiles. As someone else has already said in these posts, they were controlled out of Plattsburgh AFB in upstate New York. Those 12 strategic missiles (total) were the only missiles based east of the Mississippi. And the reason the USAF needed to do that was because the shorter ranged Atlas missile was unable to reach vital targets in the southern Soviet Union, such as in the Ukraine and Georgia S.S.R.s from west of the Mississippi.
How easy was the parking and entry to the fort? I see theres a bunch of houses near where you parked.... Also the last location, you able to share where that is?
It’s the old missile base that’s now used for storage for the town highway dept, school, and fire dept. It was weird seeing him so amazed by it bc I grew up frequently going there with my dad/grandpa and it’s just the old town garage to me😅
Wrong. The missile base is the northwest corner, as north as you can get. The fort is on the Canadian border (actually in NY not VT) and the last location is in Dannemora NY (not far from the prison)

It’s owned by the Chevalier’s now and if you ask nicely, they’ll let you explore what’s accessible now ;)
@@jasmonbeaulac5545 I was able to about 10 years ago.

That filling cabinet is so cool lol
It’s hideous
Great finds! Been going to these areas my whole life. What is the 3rd location? I’m very interested in it
Great stuff.. I've been to the fort and 5 out of the 12 missile bases. What was the last building(s)?
I’d really be interested in exploring those last buildings, do you remember where they are?
Cool looks spooky, Hot photographer. Opps
I think that is Fort Montgomery. An old British colonial fort.
Great indeed !
Me and my friend are thinking about exploring abandoned places in Vermont, where should we explore?

@@musclerussell8109 the last location is the Lyon mountain mines in the Dannemora area. A quick google search with those terms will lead you there.
Rouses point my friend
Looks you are on public grounds for a highway department or Maintaince storage for a school..At the beginning

Interesting how people think it's ok to tresspass as long as you are filming it.
