oh cool! glad to see someone from the event. You E36 sounds amazing by the way
this 997 needs suspension work though, it was understeering way too much. You should watch the video I posted of the 996 drifting all over the track lol.

Coming from an Alfa I can see the issue. One car is front engined the other is rear. Means different driving approach is required ( arm chair critic though I am), usually a 911 needs you to complete all the braking, speed reduction to transfer weight to the front just before the corner and then you drive (feed throttle) through it on exit to balance and give traction to that rear and steer the car in, that way you’d bé seriously faster. If it was an Aircooled you’d bin it instantly they are less forgiving. But your skill still shined through regardless of having little time to adapt to the switch from front to rear engined car. 👌🏿

Thanks for the feedback. Yea now when i watch the video again i definitely see lots of mistakes! Please keep in mind this was my first time in this track and also first time driving the car, I probably should’ve started slower but adrenaline was pumping.
Actually i own a 996 gt3 and i have set up the alignment on the car to reduce most of the understeer. I posted another video of me driving the gt3 on the same track and you can see just how tail happy it is; if you’re interested.
This 997 needed new dampers, they were still on original dampers from new, so i think they just weren’t performing.
And yes you’re right I should’ve used more trail braking it would have reduced the amount of understeer. I learnt this later on another track day.

Once you get used to the rear engine layout/balance of the car you’ll be good 👌🏾

Actually i think on this particular car the suspension needs overhauling. But yea I understand what you mean

My GT4 is faster than my 997 C4 was, but not by much. I would surprise people on track with the 997. I miss it.

Yea I was genuine surprised by how easy it was to go fast in it coming from a 996 gt3.
this particular 997 needs suspension work though. too understeer-y

@@FizzyMotors Yeah, I am trying to work out the understeer in my GT4, but I haven't run it with good tires yet so maybe that is the problem. My 997 was helped by the 4 wheel drive in the turns, too. The first time I tracked it with proper sticky tires I learned I had to change the suspension as if just leaned over to one side in the turns. The labor to do so is costly so I went top of the line so I would never have to do it again with MCS coilovers and external reserviors. That, along with a third radiator and big brake kit, and I was ready to go fast. The radiator surprisingly cheap and easy to install as the piping is all there from the factory just waiting for the radiator. I also recommend a CAE shifter. It is just super fun and gave me confidence I would not miss a gear. The shifter is up high so it is a quick transition from hands on the wheel to shift. I wish CAE made a shifter for the GT4, but they don't. Have fun!

Dude I’d suggest a lot more track etiquette for other on track users and that guys car. Maybe you weren’t used to the higher speed adjustment but a few times you really messed up other people’s lines. Use a session to build up slowly rather than full send and risking an accident.
