Ooh! You remember those too?! Me and my mother were just talking about how kid commercials are not the same as they used to be or the promotions for McDonalds nowadays. It was actually a good time to be a kid during the 80's and 90's.
the Garfield Halloween special and the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin are traditions for me , I watch them every year, brings me back to my childhood.
Holy crap!! I remember watching that commercial!! The 43 sec one with Ronald McDonald and the vampire chicken nugget!!!
Loved when the special presentation thing appeared when I was a kid. Usually when Christmas/Halloween shows (Peanuts, Garfield) came on.
5:05--I kind of miss that myself when watching the handful of classic holiday specials that still air on CBS.
I have a vivid memory of the snuggle bear commercial when i was up visiting my grandfather. My cousin saw it come on the TV and she started laughing uncontrollably... i'll never forget it it was hysterical!
Pun_Machine But...do you remember making this comment? ☺
Snuggies are those bizarre blanket contraptions that look like cultist robes. You're thinking of Snuggle.
And yes, they've aired commercials recently with a CG snuggle bear...and I died a little bit inside when I saw it.
I totally remember when McDonalds had the little plastic Chicken McNuggets toys in those Halloween costumes....I had about 5 of them LOL
Jane Wyman doing essentially a "Just Say No" ad. I've always wondered if she spent the 80s wishing she could have been First Lady.
I never got that "At least I got my hair done" gag from the McNuggets commercial when I was a kid. I bet I'm not the only one whose head that went over.
USC would beat Stanford 10-0 the next day, but neither team made the Rose Bowl. Arizona State would be the Pac-10's representative that season.
Yeah, that was definitely Martin Sheen. He was also the one who said "Choice of a New Generation" in a bunch of Pepsi ads. I remember it used to creep me out as a kid, since I associated his voice with Apocalypse Now - something I saw way too early.
I want to live in the 80's
On Ebay someone is selling one of those McBoo buckets for $18! Shoulda saved mine!
@Muggle423 Well Said. McDonald's Should Bring Back Either "It's A Good Time For The Great Of McDonald's"; "McDonald's And You"; "Nobody Can Do It Like McDonald's Can"; Or "Did Somebody Say McDonald's" Those Were My Favorite Slogans. These Are Way Better Than "I'm Lovin' It"
Those are all classic slogans/jingles! "You Deserve A Break Today" is another that they used for a long time.
The McDonald's commercial at 1:24 today would have a nuggets , apple slices , and chocolate milk.
The mummy nugget is holding a bong... Nice!
1:51 "Hey!, It's The Bear Show!"
You'd be surprised. I was an 80s child, and carrots were one of my faves. As soon as McD's cames out with salads, I was delighted.
Yes, RIP, poor girl; sadly, her killer is still allowed to breathe :(
"Now that you're watching your bodies more," LOL!
I think they're unofficially discontinued. The wikipedia article about the McDonaldland characters says that in 2007 McDonald's agreed to no longer advertise to children under 12 to combat childhood obesity.
Look, childhood obesity sucks, but sucking all the fun out of life isn't the solution to it.
And I couldn't agree more with you about "I'm Lovin' It".
I love that CBS Special bumper!
i miss these commercials..
Didn't know Charlie Adler voiced the Hamburglar.
Wow that was Kimberly Hunt on the news break. She is now on KGTV (ABC) San Diego.
I miss Ronald McDonald and his McDonald friends.
Did anyone notice how big the fries were in the McDonald's part of that Garfield bumper?
0:53 Those Hips Don't Lie! lol
Man that is sad. The characters were great and they don't make excellent commercials like those from the 80's and early 90's.
I was only 2 when these commercials came out lol
The days before everything had to be a damn rap video
so sad about the girl from "my sister sam" :( rip
3:25--That must be Rebecca Schaeffer. I know she was murdered when she was only in her early 20's, not long after this show ended its original run. I love Pam Dawber in "Mork and Mindy". Antenna TV is currently running that show; I wish they'd pick this one up too. It only ran for 2 seasons, but they are airing some short-run shows on the weekends.
you know Mike these bear commercials have been around as long as you and I both have been alive
What the hell happened to Grimace? It's like they imported a new one from Japan and got him stoned as hell.
3:37 erie, that actress that said "I'm gonna die",really did die,her stalker killed her.
Sounds like Charlie Adler as Hamburglar.
Ronald spooks me
So cute
And I was just gonna pin point that when I heard too ^_^. Also, was that Martin Sheen V.O.-ing in the Pepsi commercial?
I never knew Taco Bell was around in the 80s lol
It's a shame they don't air the Garfiled holiday specials anymore...
Agreed--and now the Charlie Brown specials have left network TV too. :-( Mercifully, PBS ran a couple of them this past holiday season.
@@timothysprengeler4071 you can stream most of them now
"campbells soup is good food"
its like theyre not even trying with this slogan
Campbell's Soup: "Well, It Looks Like Food, At Least"
0:47--I like "Mmm Mmm Good" better, but this was an iconic slogan/jingle for its time.
0:11 Garfield would agree! lol
@Romeofud It's been around since the 60's.
rubble rubble, rubble ME!!!
I like the Taco Bell logo in this commercial as well as the ones in the late 70's, early 80's.
The one now just looks to dang modern like the rest of them.
There's a Taco Bell restaurant near me that looks like a contemporary ski lodge. It's bizarre. I kinda like it, though.
totempolejoe interesting! If I may ask, where is his located? Would like to see what it looks like.
Anybody ever have the Snuggle Bear doll?
Alright, I'm very sure McDonalds actually owned America during the 80's. Even the White House was probably sponsored by McDonalds! (okay, perhaps not xD)
Well hey, I haven't been there for several months so...thanks 80's America, gonna treat myself tonight!
Is that Russi Taylor as the Snuggle Bear?
@UltraComboer The "I'm Lovin' It" campaign was specifically designed to appeal to the "urban" market. The song itself was performed by Justin Timberlake and released as a single, and IMO the style of the commercials themselves was heavily influenced by "8 Mile". It's possibly the most transparent example of targeted demographic marketing I've ever seen.
pee wees playhouse looks trippey
Ronald is the only one still around and he does like sports activities and such now.
The snuggle bear scared the piss outta me.
i don't trust the snuggle bear in 1:49
what the bear says is creepy
snuggle bear:the close is clear, nobody here just you and me
when you hear the phrase"just you and me" what do you think in your mind
pretty creepy huh O_O
Ah... McDonalds. LOL
They don't show Ronald, the McBurglar, and the rest. Back then they were cute and fun for us kids, today's kids would see them as dorky and stupid!
MadTV made a hilarious parody of the Snuggle Bear, LOL! A teddy bear for fabric softner, yeah..... only in the 80s. LOL, today it's like, "Yeah I just put the damn liquid in and forget, because I don't have time to be sensually seduced by the soft laundry. While my kids are sexting with their iPhone!" LOL
I hate the new "cute" hamburglar. Bring back the scary, hideous Uglo-American Hamburglar! And Grimace is now a thick-lipped manitee???!!!
No.
That has nothing to do with it.
haha!! muppet shakes!! Omyyyyy
Wow.. the beef in Taco Bell burritos suuure doesn't look like that anymore..
@SillyLilly123987 yup and there still huge today or at least mcdonalds
i hate campbells soup, its way to salty -.-
That tends to be the case with canned soups in general.
snuiggle is still around but he is all CG animtaed looking..it;s awful..
And Geico commericals aren't even remotely funny. I swear, there should be a law about people who think they're funny but aren't.
