Ever since rugby sevens was introduced in the Olympics, England, Scotland, and Wales, compete as a joint Great Britain team. in fifteens rugby, they compete separately, particularly noticeable during the World Cup.

Sad to see Portia Woodman, Sarah Hirini, Stacy Fluler, and Theresa Fitzpatrick, all leave the sevens team to compete in 15s at the rugby World Cup. Tula Nathan-Wong performed admirably as Kendra Cocksedge’s backup, and Kelly Brazier has already played in three World Cups. All the same, it gave Jazmin Hotham and Marina Paul some time in the limelight. They are the future of Black Fern sevens…

but I'm pretty sure that old 7s players will play 7s again. Also, Ruby Tui already announced that.
(this is my opinion, I really love to see them playing both 15s and 7s.)

@@journeytomyheart hard to say how many of them will want to return to playing sevens. Theresa Fitzpatrick probably wants to return to medical school at some point to finish her degree. Portia , Sarah, and Stacy are all married, and might want to start family soon. It could be hard to reconcile motherhood with being a pro rugby player. They could make the team if they wanted to, but if they don’t, there is enough young talent that can feel the ranks. The black ferns should do just fine. Olympics in 2024. Commonwealth games in 2026? We’ll see. by the way, Magali Harvey from Canada spent her last rugby season playing 15s in New Zealand. She is the same age as Portia and Stacy.

@@redrust3 yeah I also think they will give place to new players too. but it doesn't mean they'll stop playing 7s completely unless they announce. and I don't think the married ones want to start cute lovely family life and leave the 7s team because they put their whole life into rugby and woodman's partner is also a rugby player, Renee. So I guess they'll stop playing 7s when their bodies against them just like some of the players.

Good to see new young players coming through learning the ins and outs of international 7s and doing well.
