I really wish I could get a drawing tablet, but my parents don't believe in my art. I draw a mix of anime and cartoony art. But my parents are both artists and they draw realistic art 24/7. So they refuse to get me one until I can draw realism

Lyric Noneyabusiness yea, if you hover your pen over the tablet a little cursor appears. The tablet is linked to the computer screen so if you hover your pen in the same space it will always show in the same spot on the computer screen.
Maybe you can drawn your ideas out on paper so you don't forget about them. I've heard artists recommend that you buy an art journal and draw 1 thing every day. You could 15 pieces of paper, fold them in half, and use that. Actually... I think I'll try that.

Hey guys so don't get the Ugee 1910B. Even though she doesn't review it, it's obviously made by the same people of the Ugee CV720. After like 6 months I've started having a lot of trouble so I'm not sure how reliable their cheaper products are. What I mean is, sometimes I had to completely reinstall the driver because it literally disappeared. That's cool, simple enough. But there's dead spots on it. There are 2 vertical areas on the tablet that just don't work. Other than that it's pretty good. But yeah.
Hi LavenderTowne, I'm getting a drawing tablet for Christmas and I would like to ask if you could make a video on the basics of how to get started with a drawing tablet because I want to know how to use it before I get one.
I have a H610PRO Huion tablet, it is very cheap, usually 20-40$ and I use Paint tool SAI with it and I have to say it is very reliable, it has a pen stand, usb for pen and tablet and it can take alot of pressure from the pen tip but both the pen and screen have high sensitivity so I would definitely not recommend testing that out, it does not come with any nibs but it still lasts very long and It is very good.
I have a similar tablet. The Turcom TS-6610, which is very similar to the one you have. Only problem with mine is that it doesn't work with SAI, so I had to convert programs once I bought this, but it wasn't a huge problem. I got mine for $20 (brand new is $50), while the Huion is about $70 on Amazon. (Also, check the bottom of your pen holder/cup for the nibs, there should be 4 in there)
Me: Oh, i like that Wacome sintiqe companion 2! LavenderTowne: So, this one is really nice... Me:mmhm, mmmhm!! LavenderTowne: Annnd... it cost's about 2,000$ to 3,000$ :) Me: why . _ .

I have the smallest, cheapest wacom. It has 4 buttons on the tablet and two on the pen. But for some reason I can't seem to set ANY of the buttons to undo, so I have to keep pressing ctrl+z and for 100,000 maybe you could try and animate??
I actually figured this out yesterday! When it gives you options to edit your buttons, click "keystroke". There it'll let you choose any command you want, including ctrl+z
there should be a program on your computer called Wacom Tablet Properties you can probably find it by searching in the start window. There, you can set up everything with your tablet
Managed to get myself a Cintiq 16 after saving. Since I'm used to using the keyboard on my lap, it's really easy for me to just use as a replacement for the express keys thing other tablets have.
Can someone who knows about this topic help me out: I wanna start doing digital drawings but i don't have a drawing tablet. I have a normal tablet with a good drawing program but no touch pen. The only ones i could find are those rubber covered round ones that barely work. Can anyone give me some advice on wherethere i should buy a drawing tablet pen somewhere online (and would that work the same?) or if there is a way to make my own touch pen that is sharp enough to draw precise, but doesn't damage the screen (i don't wanna make a cotton one cause i don't wanna rely on water when i draw, or anything similar) P.S. if you see this comment liking it would be nice since it makes it easier to be spoted
MadeThis2comment I know this is old, but I hope I can still help. If the tablet only works with the round stylus, then you can't use a fine point one. No fine point pen in the world, will work with that tablet, because that tablet is not made to interact with the fine point stylus. Typically, the tablets that can use a fine point stylus, come with the stylus included. Except for Ipads, you have to buy the Apple Pencil separately, and even then, I believe only the Ipad Pro works with the Apple Pencil. The cheapest tablet that I know works with a fine point stylus, is called the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S pen. You have to make sure it says with S pen, because there is a version that doesn't come with the S pen. I believe it's around $300. It's not super cheap, but you get a nice fine point stylus and you get a screen to see what you are drawing directly, where as you can see in the video, a drawing tablet with those functions costs around $1000-$2000 .
Get a drawing tablet, and find a program on your PC. I recommend the Wacom Intuos Draw. You can get it in neon blue, white or black. Its perfect for getting used to, and is much cheaper than other Wacom tablets. It costs around 70.00 on amazon, but if you're looking for something cheaper try looking at huion!
I would really like to see you talk about anatomy. I've been having trouble with it and I would like to know if you have any tips or tricks! Thank you!
Carla Alvarez I have a super old cheap one and I changed my mind I'm gonna just replace the pen cause that's broken I don't know much about tablets and I wasn't sure about being able to replace pens before this vid it's a hand-me down
That's exactly my plan. I got a cheap one and when I turn 18 I can hopefully beg my parents for a cintiq (we're a wealthy family). Some kids ask for cars, I ask for drawing tablets... also if they have extra budget I could really use adobe photoshop XD
“That basically covers the basics” -Lavendertowne 2017 Bus seriously Thank you. I’m saving up birthday/Christmas money to by a drawing tablet in the January sales and this is really helping with the choosing part.
my first lavendertowne video was this one when it came out and ive been watching since, this channel has truly grown into something great and im proud of you haley!
I myself would recommend the normal Wacom Intuos Draw tablet. I believe that it was about $70 or so on Amazon. It's small, and rather affordable compared to some tablets. Feel free to ask me any questions about it, for I own one and use it regularly!
I got a Wacom Intuos tablet a bit after my birthday thanks to this video. I absolutely love it! I can bring it everywhere with me and I finally got used to pen pressure (after a while)!
I used to have that one! I’m glad it works for you! Just a warning for anyone wanting this tablet though, I don’t know if it’s just me but it kind of cramped my hand.
@@cheesebags4341 yea its kinda small. It comes in two sizes tho, so if you think you can't work with the smaller one, you can always just get the large version :D
I can't decide between using my Huion or Wacom Intuous tablets. I have always used my Huion, but it isn't professional. My Wacom is too sensitive. Help please!
Too much sensitivity should never be an issue! Don't worry about being scratchy in your initial designs, just keep refining for every layer or iteration. Also, you can actually change the sensitivity by accessing the Wacom driver's menu from the control panel, which changes how hard you have to push before it actually counts as a stroke.
I'm gonna get a Huion tablet soon. I'm a big nerd about tech like this and I wanna start with a tablet that may be good for me. Either the Huion H640P or the Huion H950P. Hope it works well!
I remember getting my Intuos 3 roughly about 11 years ago and it was the best thing ever. I was SO excited about. Throughout the years, I realized I could never actually draw on it. I could line and shade, but drawings from scratch? newp. Even to this day I still couldn't, and it was so weird to me, so I always stuck to paper and pencil when I sketched. Now that I have a Cintiq sketching from beginning is SO much easier, but in the back of my mind I feel terrible for abandoning my traditional media. LOL I still use it, but lining and colouring is even FASTER NOW. I CRY.
Heather Mcnamara Is a gift to this world Use one of your relatives computers. If you're a kid then use your parents computer...if not...uhh..... "HEYYY DEAR SISTER WE HAVENT TALKED IN LIKE 5 YEARS BUT CAN I BORROW YOUR COMPUTER?" .... Bad Idea
Annalise Scott That's a stupid question. NOOOO you can definitely hook up your tablet to mid air and it'll project the art on the window!! Unless you're planning on getting a Cintiq (which is 3000$) you can't use a drawing tablet without a computer
I have notifications on and actually squealed when I saw you posted something!! Anyway, what tablet would you suggest for a beginner? I'm not new to art, but I honestly haven't even seen a drawing tablet in person ono
Thanks so much for this video! Because of this I finally got a drawing tablet (for my birthday, which was actually on the day the video was uploaded! haha) and even though it's the cheapest Wacom tablet available it works really well, thanks for the tips! I've been using it for three days now and it was actually really easy to get used to drawing on it and having the strokes show up on the screen, at least for me. I feel like I was needlessly scared of trying a drawing tablet out for the first time xD
They just got the color wheel for Photoshop instead of keeping the Photoshop cmyk/rgb sliders or swatches, most artists customize Photoshop to their liking.
you're the first person I've seen to actually take into account the right/left buttons. I almost bought one with the buttons on the left. You saved me!
I can relate to you so much i really love you soo much!!!!!! If I dont count with Draw With Jazza and Jaiden Animations you are my main ispiration! With Jaiden and Jazza you 3 are in 1st place!! :D I have bin learning A LOT from you and keep up the fantastic work!!
when you're drawing on the pad without the screen :O do you look at the screen xD or down at the pad? xD and do you have problem with the pad without the screen, where when you're drawing, the palm of your drawing hand touches the tablet and that moves the cursor to where your palm hit it and that screws up the cursor location of where you were just drawing? newb here xD
You look at the screen. It's not like an iPad where it's signaled by heat. The pen is special and is the only thing that can trigger movement on the tablet, so no the palm doesnt do anything. people lay their palms on the tablet all the time XD
I have the pen AND touch tablet and no your hand won't trigger the mouse because the only thing you can do with your hand is navigate the screen like zooming in and out
Who else uses an iPad pro as a tablet for drawing and digital artwork?? I haven't been able to actually purchase one yet but I use my dad's and it's great.
Hey Lavender, I occasionally use a simple ipad mini rather a professional tablet, so I dont use my computer when drawing. Can I still do professional artwork on it? Or should I get a drawing tablet instead?
Well I know someone who has an iPad pro which you can use pen pressure with. He uses the app "procreate" and is able to make some very professional pieces.
iiTacostaco They're not made for professional art, but if you have the skills then sure you can. It's more about the end product than the tool with art. :)
iiTacostaco I dont think that ipads are made for professional art but if you want somewhat professional looking art on a ipad, i would totally recommend Procreate. It has pretty much all of the tools you need! The only thing is, the App can be a bit pricey
I have a 10 x 6.25 inch tablet. It's un-branded, but it works great. I got it from the Monoprice website for $40 which is really cheap compared to other tablets and I love it to death. It's not as fancy as other tablets, but it's a good size and I recommend it to beginners or "medium" level digital artists. If you're a professional digital artist, I recommend getting the Cintq reviewed in this video, or really getting anything that works for you
Having moved from a wacom intuos to a surface 3, I can say that drawing on a screen makes a world of a difference. I never really got into using my intuos because it felt so unnatural not looking at my hands, but I loved the program it came with at least :)
I'm dreaming to have a tablet, even though i'm 10. I'm fine with art, and i'm hoping i will end up like an amazing artist like you! Thanks for the inspiration / Information! Now i know alot more about these! I'm definetly subscribing
Funny thing is the Wacom is on sale ATM for 86.99$! i found out and started to ask for it But my mom said no though I have the money but I Have my birthday coming (She said someone is getting me it and I might be getting a Laptop too!)
I've been using a drawing tablet for about 8years now and yes last year I got myself a cintiq. I love it however a part of me wishes I spent more money on getting a companion. I was 14 when I got my first tablet. It was a medium bamboo. A silver one. I liked it but I found out they made new ones and asked for it for Christmas Then I got the bamboo pen and touch. I thought I'd love the touch but I always had it toggled off. They didn't make any new tablets so I didn't ask for a new one until it broke a year an a half later. The wire frayed and it was connected to it :/. I was able to work for the money to pay for a new one because I wasn't going my entire summer break without drawing. Got myself a nice 50$ refurbished bamboo pen. Basically the same tablet I had before but without the touch function. I used that for about a year an a half before getting another tablet for Christmas I got the bamboo create, it was so much bigger than my previous tablets! And my doofus dog ate the pen on 3 different occasions. I rocked with that one for about 2 years before getting an Intuos. This was the start of bamboo dying off and Intuos splitting into two, regular and pro. I got the regular one. I love it. The size was great and the pen pressure was amazing. Used it for 2years! Then I decided last year that I'd get myself a new computer that would not crash and make me loose my work. 800$ later and I had a computer! Then half a year after getting my computer I decided I wanted a cintiq. I literally bought it on an impulse. I currently use the cintiq 13HD. I do love it a lot but I wish it was portable sometimes... and the new computer tablets they released are magical looking! My art has improved since switching to a cintiq but I have also gotten older, it's been 8years that I've been drawing with tablets lol My biggest issue was getting use to it at first but I got it pretty easily The second biggest issue was after switching to the cintiq I had to remember how to use a mouse again XD I always navigated everything with my tablet pen
I have a type of the last one just I think it's slightly different I really recommend it it's great! It can get warm sometimes and you can fix the turning while using by locking the turn!!
I'm laughing because I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet model CTE-450 and it's super tiny but I love it to death. Had it for years now and it has never failed me. I really want to look into getting a Cintiq in the future though, I've tried them when I was in high school, we had a classroom full of the big ones and I fell in love with it right away. The Companion looks really cool and like it'd be the perfect size for me.
I have a Wacom Intuos Comic. Its a small tablet that had 4 buttons on it with 2 buttons on the pen. I have to look at my laptop's screen though but personally it didn't really take long to get the hang of it. It's a cute little thing and I love it to bits. The pen pressure is pretty good too, especially on a Mac. It came with an animation program and Clip Studio Paint.

SempiiDino Can you send me a link?
On wacom's website they have something called the 'bamboo pen' it works with pen pressure and Bluetooth. I am aware how old this is so sorry 😂
Uh- Ibispaint's yt chanel has a diy tutorial on how to make a stylus..
Late, I know but:
Get a Parblo A610.
You'll thank me later
I would really like to see you talk about anatomy. I've been having trouble with it and I would like to know if you have any tips or tricks! Thank you!
Ok I have a plan I'll get a cheap one and then save up money when I'm old enough for a job to get a better one
Oakshade's Art corner what tablet do u have right now?
Carla Alvarez I have a super old cheap one and I changed my mind I'm gonna just replace the pen cause that's broken I don't know much about tablets and I wasn't sure about being able to replace pens before this vid it's a hand-me down
Oakshade's Art corner just ask for on for your birthday or Christmas that's what I did
That's exactly my plan. I got a cheap one and when I turn 18 I can hopefully beg my parents for a cintiq (we're a wealthy family). Some kids ask for cars, I ask for drawing tablets... also if they have extra budget I could really use adobe photoshop XD
MADS 77 18 a bit too old maybe 14 if you are a wealthy family or open a stand or something
“That basically covers the basics”
-Lavendertowne 2017
Bus seriously Thank you. I’m saving up birthday/Christmas money to by a drawing tablet in the January sales and this is really helping with the choosing part.
my first lavendertowne video was this one when it came out and ive been watching since, this channel has truly grown into something great and im proud of you haley!
Can drawing tablets be connected to laptops?
Yes! They most often come with a cord to connect it to a USB port
Mollie Heaney Thanks! I am transitioning from traditional to Digital right now, so I'm just kinda confused.
No problem! :)
Yea duh.
Danna Jessie yup mine is.
I myself would recommend the normal Wacom Intuos Draw tablet. I believe that it was about $70 or so on Amazon. It's small, and rather affordable compared to some tablets. Feel free to ask me any questions about it, for I own one and use it regularly!
Love your voice! It's always so calming for me.
I got a Wacom Intuos tablet a bit after my birthday thanks to this video. I absolutely love it! I can bring it everywhere with me and I finally got used to pen pressure (after a while)!
This video is really helpful, thank you!
I got a drawing tablet for thirty dollars xD
I'm completely happy with it
It's a huion tablet
So cool! I use Wacom intuos XD
@@randombox. same
just got it yesterday :D
@@akhilalex1362 Ooh congrats!!
Thank you for this! Wanted to try digital art for a while, but just could find a good one. ☺🌸
Thank you!!
Don't mention it!
if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer them on my Discord,
PrincessNia#3608
wdym it isnt professional?
I'd like to see you possible draw some of your oc's 😊
I'm gonna get a Huion tablet soon. I'm a big nerd about tech like this and I wanna start with a tablet that may be good for me. Either the Huion H640P or the Huion H950P. Hope it works well!
I got my first ever tablet!
I was really motivated after seeing this video to see what's out there for tablets and programs
I CRY.
I can afford a drawing tablet for like $100 but I don't have a computer I only have a phone😭
Heather Mcnamara Is a gift to this world
Use one of your relatives computers.
If you're a kid then use your parents computer...if not...uhh.....
"HEYYY DEAR SISTER WE HAVENT TALKED IN LIKE 5 YEARS BUT CAN I BORROW YOUR COMPUTER?"
....
Bad Idea
MADS 77 Get a cheap ass computer from the dumps for around 30$ for computer cleaning supplies
That too
Heather Mcnamara Is a gift to this world do you need a computer to have a drawing tablet?
Annalise Scott
That's a stupid question.
NOOOO you can definitely hook up your tablet to mid air and it'll project the art on the window!!
Unless you're planning on getting a Cintiq (which is 3000$) you can't use a drawing tablet without a computer
Congrats on 100k >w< *throws confetti*
THANK U SOOOOO MICH FOR MAKING VIDEOS!!! I formed my own drawing style similar to yours just from watching your vids!! Thank you soooo much again.
You are one of the most helpful artists on RUclips. Thank you, LavenderTowne.
"My collection of art tablets."
*pulls out huge ass collection of mice*
Tysm! I been looking on a whole bunch of videos and this one helped me! I'm getting one for my birthday! :)
Draw your subscribers! I think it would be a really cool thing to celebrate over 100,000 of us!!
much love youre a goddess
Thank you really helped me get the right table!! Love your art by the way.
Omg, Lavander. You're such an inspiration, your voice is really cool tbh.
This is *Super* Helpful, tysm!
Why does this look like Krita?
Suzy Rose Blossom I'm fairly certain that Krita was designed after Photoshop, so that anyone familiar with it would have no trouble using Krita.
ikr!
Suzy Rose Blossom I love Krita it's soooo good
They just got the color wheel for Photoshop instead of keeping the Photoshop cmyk/rgb sliders or swatches, most artists customize Photoshop to their liking.
HyperGurl4010 Krita also has the rgb sliders, they're just a little hidden. The right-screen window has a LOT of options available for customization.
you're the first person I've seen to actually take into account the right/left buttons. I almost bought one with the buttons on the left. You saved me!
I can relate to you so much i really love you soo much!!!!!! If I dont count with Draw With Jazza and Jaiden Animations you are my main ispiration! With Jaiden and Jazza you 3 are in 1st place!! :D I have bin learning A LOT from you and keep up the fantastic work!!
when you're drawing on the pad without the screen :O do you look at the screen xD or down at the pad? xD
and do you have problem with the pad without the screen, where when you're drawing, the palm of your drawing hand touches the tablet and that moves the cursor to where your palm hit it and that screws up the cursor location of where you were just drawing?
newb here xD
You look at the screen.
It's not like an iPad where it's signaled by heat. The pen is special and is the only thing that can trigger movement on the tablet, so no the palm doesnt do anything. people lay their palms on the tablet all the time XD
moxi e my tablet reacts to my palm :( and yea I keep looking up and down from screen to tablet when drawing xD
siv yig you look at the screen lol, you'll get used to it
I have the pen AND touch tablet and no your hand won't trigger the mouse because the only thing you can do with your hand is navigate the screen like zooming in and out
the touch feature also allows you to use the tablet as a mouse touchpad, like on a laptop
Who else uses an iPad pro as a tablet for drawing and digital artwork?? I haven't been able to actually purchase one yet but I use my dad's and it's great.
Yep
congrats on the 100k!
i'm saving up to get a cintiq 13hd (currently using a wacom bamboo CTL 470) since they dropped in price :3
i love your art style its so unique and amazing
Hey Lavender, I occasionally use a simple ipad mini rather a professional tablet, so I dont use my computer when drawing. Can I still do professional artwork on it? Or should I get a drawing tablet instead?
iiTacostaco
ipads aren't built for that kind of professional work, unfortunately
Well I know someone who has an iPad pro which you can use pen pressure with. He uses the app "procreate" and is able to make some very professional pieces.
Ella Kim
It depends, long-term ipads weren't created for professional art. yoour friend might be using the new apple pen or a bamboo pen.
iiTacostaco They're not made for professional art, but if you have the skills then sure you can. It's more about the end product than the tool with art. :)
iiTacostaco I dont think that ipads are made for professional art but if you want somewhat professional looking art on a ipad, i would totally recommend Procreate. It has pretty much all of the tools you need! The only thing is, the App can be a bit pricey
Can we use the tablets on laptop coz I won't have computers.....
If you're a professional digital artist, I recommend getting the Cintq reviewed in this video, or really getting anything that works for you
AHH I WISH I HAD YOUR VOICE! it's so relaxing (that is such a odd compliment but you know)
This is really informative
I have Wacom Intuos.... I don't know how to use it when I draw ;-;
Anti Skrub - just practice, it doesnt take long at all to get used to it.
SilverDirt Draws OKAAAIIII
Anti Skrub took me 1 day to learn to use mine lol just practice
Viet Pee Me too! at first I though "NEVER I SHALL STAY DOING HOW I AM DOING!!" But then now I have this channel...
Carltoons 😂😂
I think I might get the 1st one. This video was really helpful!
Having moved from a wacom intuos to a surface 3, I can say that drawing on a screen makes a world of a difference. I never really got into using my intuos because it felt so unnatural not looking at my hands, but I loved the program it came with at least :)
I really want to see attempted animation, if it's possible.
Beautiful thumb ring
I'm dreaming to have a tablet, even though i'm 10.
I'm fine with art, and i'm hoping i will end up like an amazing artist like you!
Thanks for the inspiration / Information! Now i know alot more about these!
I'm definetly subscribing
Whenever I get the money, I'd definitely use the third tablet, thanks for the recommendation!
It says error not found when clicking on the gear best link
uh oh let me check on that, thank you for letting me know
LavenderTowne your welcome!
Almas Shakil me tooooo if ur ok with it and have new leaf friend code
Funny thing is the Wacom is on sale ATM for 86.99$! i found out and started to ask for it But my mom said no though I have the money but I Have my birthday coming
(She said someone is getting me it and I might be getting a Laptop too!)
Dréàm Téà good! my mom got me the intuos art medium for my birthday 😱
I'm also getting a drawing tablet for my birthday!😱
Thank you so much!I've Been looking for a drawing tablet!
I just ordered a huion h420. I wanted to start off with something cheap since im just starting digital art.
Thanks for this vid Lavender!
What program would you recommend for CV720 graphic tablet?
Could you do the neons challenge?
it's when you can only use neon colours ^_^
I’m getting the Ugee C708 if you can ever review it I would love that! you have the best tablet reviews!
IM GETTING THE CV720 ON SUNDAY! If I haven't watched this I would have NEVER been able to get one! Thaaaaaannnnkkkk yoooooooou fren
I've been using a drawing tablet for about 8years now and yes last year I got myself a cintiq. I love it however a part of me wishes I spent more money on getting a companion.
I was 14 when I got my first tablet. It was a medium bamboo. A silver one. I liked it but I found out they made new ones and asked for it for Christmas
Then I got the bamboo pen and touch.
I used that for about a year an a half before getting another tablet for Christmas
I got the bamboo create, it was so much bigger than my previous tablets!
My art has improved since switching to a cintiq but I have also gotten older, it's been 8years that I've been drawing with tablets lol
My biggest issue was getting use to it at first but I got it pretty easily
The second biggest issue was after switching to the cintiq I had to remember how to use a mouse again XD I always navigated everything with my tablet pen
Your dog _ate_ the pen?
i wanna see you make an animation
I just bought the Intuos art Wacom tablet ^^ works really well for me!
I have a type of the last one just I think it's slightly different I really recommend it it's great! It can get warm sometimes and you can fix the turning while using by locking the turn!!
Please can you read more creepypasta?
i would like to sell both my kidneys for a cintiq companion 2 👁️👄👁️
💦
Your style is so wonderfully pastel gothic xx
I'm laughing because I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet model CTE-450 and it's super tiny but I love it to death. Had it for years now and it has never failed me. I really want to look into getting a Cintiq in the future though, I've tried them when I was in high school, we had a classroom full of the big ones and I fell in love with it right away. The Companion looks really cool and like it'd be the perfect size for me.
Lol I draw with mouse, why am I watching this, lol, love you Lavender tho
Relatable!
@That Idiot Kathrine I use a mouse and I mainly use the line tool because my wrists are really shaky, so all I can say is practice :)
I got a darwing tablet then 2 months later its gone *_CRY_*
Oof sorry
*what is a darwing tablet*
holy shit this is old
@@novembersrain ill be 100 percent honest i was 12 when i made that comment so my. uh my bad. i didn’t care to go back and change my spelling lmao
@@puptaort yeh ik it was a spelling mistake, it just really sounded funny xD
Your art style is so amazing! It's like a cute chibi.. but a little different. And nice review! I'm working on moving away from my 2015 intuos lmao
