Hello! I realize this DIY is a couple yrs old but I just had to tell you how excited I am as I follow you through this!! I lost my 18yo son from an unknown medical condition. I kept the clothes he passed away in😲😢😥😪😭😭 It wasn't until last wk I saw someone with a jeans purse and it was SO beautiful ! I found this diy and I'm on my way to keeping something SO VERY DEAR TO ME with me each day! I'm going to add some charms depicting our lives together with material strips from his shirts, like a hobo bag. I want to thank you for an easy sewing presentation!! God Bless!!!

After reviewing both parts of your tutorial video, I discovered you really do not need music. Your tutorial is so very well done; very detailed; very informative, with nice tonal quality & pacing. Background music is just a "bit" of an overall distraction. You have the ability to do an excellent teaching without the aid of music. Your tutorial was the very first one I have been able to follow from start to finish and feel secure in making my first denim bag. Keep up the good work!

Excellent instruction......and I know by now that you know about the Music background.....so I am looking forward to more vid tutes w/o the music....I agree...you don't need background....just your natural voice is very pleasant to hear and understand nicely....I do thank you for noticing your viewers and their concerns about this.....Thanks for your valued time and tute....I just found a whole "nest" of goodies to use for these projects....both jeans shorts and short jean skirts....huge variety of styles with all kinds of "extra's" on them, re: buckles, snaps, pleats and various cuts and designs and stages of wear too....fancy pockets that are not just "plain'' ....looking forward to making some FUN Jean Bags with them....

Dear Izzy the videos that you've made are really to die for . The whole process is very systematic and I don't think anyone could explain it better . And yes you are really good , you don't need the music .

How inspiring. I kept 2 old jeans from hubby and my middle son. Started doing the bag and I'm about to make the handles.
I will do another one for my daughter's partner. Just need lining and making art for him.
I've sustained a bad injury and was looking for inspiration when I came across your channel. I see your videos have been there for a long time.
Thank you! You made a few days brighter.

I love your videos, they are a lot of help. Glad to hear your going to address the music. I can tell you've been sewing for a while. It's been a very long time since I've sewn but. It's coming back to me, with your help. Thank you again :)

Hi Rucha, I personally like Janome or Brother .. but other brands are equally good, just make sure they have basic stitches like zig zag, stretch stitch and button hole. The rest of the fancy stitches normally are for show and they don't get used. Also see if you can get one where you can make the feed dog up or down.. this comes in handy if you wish to do embroidery in future... Sorry if this is too many things to consider? all the best :-)

You are so talented!! Not to mention that you are also a wonderful instructor. I enjoyed your video very much. I have almost finished 3 bags. I bought some jeans at a garage sale, washed them and now using them for the purses. Getting ready to make the straps. Yay!! My granddaughters love these as well. I am teaching them to sew a little at a time since they are 7 and 6. So much fun!! Thanks for sharing your talents!!!

I love your video. I was given a pair of Levi's from my best friend to make something out of and I followed your video on making a denim purse and the purse turned out great. It only took me a couple hours to make it. She will love it. I will definitely make more... Thank you so much for clear and thorough instructions. So much better to watch a video than to follow written directions and see a few pictures.

Aside from the music which made it challenging to hear, yours is by far one of the best tutorials I've seen for this project. I did mine almost exactly the same, but instead of a hem stitch, hand stitched a blind stitch for the lining, so the stitches aren't visible.. love the beautiful pink shirt you used for yours.. thanks for the pointers :)

    Hi Klazi.......
Thank you so much... Its an honour to receive a comment from you. Yes I will keep it in mind about the music in all my future tutorials... I learnt most of these things from my mom.. use to sit and watch her sew all the time. Later I went to study fashion. Send me pics of your creations... I would love to have a look...

Excellent photography! Really love your choice of contrasting fabric with denim! The result is fabulous, and you are a very good teacher, meticulous with instructions. So glad you have learned the lesson about noisy background. No one needs any distraction when learning. The din drowns out your perfect soft voice, which needs no enhancement from any soundtrack. Thanks for the tips!

My denims was quite stiff so it sat flat... yes you can sew a collar bone, or a traditional bone to the sides to make it sit right. And you can sew a cardboard or acrylic sheet. cover it with fabric and just sew the fabric to the side triangles... Good idea...

thank you, great video. I saved a bunch of old jeans for project time with my nieces&nephews. In future videos, could you give some simpler alternatives to completing the items? i feel like the handles had a much higher difficulty level with a lot of machine sewing compared to the bag itself. The bag had a very low difficulty level, with very little sewing. The bags sewing could have easily been done by hand, with liquid sew, or on a compact/kids machine. The difficulty & time commitment really jumps up for the handles. I'm the kids& i will figure something out. It's just that otherwise your video was one of the few on youtube that was really step by step doable for kids with no sewing experience I would have loved to have followed it from start to finish. Thanks again. i subscribed & look forward to watching other videos. Auntie Lisa

I love this idea better than the others I have seen made. Great idea for recycling an old shirt too. Do you have any job ideas about how to make the bag where you can close it? I thought maybe Velcro. My other idea has been maybe just a scarf to tie around it. Thanks for the great idea.

Wonderful tutorial. My husband goes through a lot of jeans with his job. I've recycled the legs in to dog toys and always wanted to use the cut-offs for a tote bag. I have a touch of arthritis in my hands, which makes sewing by hand painful. Do you think stitch witch (iron-on webbing) would work for the liner?

tip: use thread that matches the colored fabric that way it blends in and looks professionally done.

HRD 77 I'm sure she used the white to show on the video a more clear example as well as it looks great

sometimes it is nice to have a contrasting colour rather than have a matching colour, makes it look a little bit more cheerful

Love this...I want to make recycled bags to help animal rescues. I have a lot of upholstery fabric that I was going to use for projects but never did...now have a plan to re-purpose into bags...thanks for sharing. After seeing this, I think I might be able to add a lining successfully...a lot of helpful hints here.

Kathleen Fillo thank you for the comment... yes upholstery fabric is great for bags as they have a lot of strength...

Oh my goodness. This is how I make jeans bags, except for sewing those two points on the lining and bag together. I learned something! I just bought three pairs of jeans for making bags from, so I'll try to remember these tips.
