    This cross is stunning... it has so many layers. And you make it so easy! Let me tell you something... I started beading in 2008/9 (didn't go very far with it but have retained basic skills), and have paid for pdf directions that were so hard to comprehend, and paid for video tutorials that were not half as detailed or in focus, or up close so we can actually see, as yours... and you're doing it for FREE. It blows me away. I really do appreciate your talents as a teacher and a beader, that you are sharing it with us.

    This is really lovely I like the ornate look. I was astonished at first when I saw the beadwork you do. I would have thought (if I hadn't watched your tutorials) that the cross was made from long rice type beads or tubes, it never ceases to amaze me how you make them look so gorgeous (I make jewellery but my beadwork isn't anything like as good as yours but I always keep the ones I like in my playlist because a lot of the stuff you make appeals to me...What I mean is the stuff you make is very much the stuff I like to wear. ..so I will keep practising xx

    Gina!! Wow you outdid yourself and your method of teaching is so easy to follow. I had to laugh cuz after you added 2 sets of crystals onto the cross arms I was already thinking of trying 15/0's to hide the thread path and then after the next 1 you mention we could try adding 15/0's. I love how you chat as you bead too and laugh at yourself sometimes. I can't wait to try these. I collected crosses in real jewelry for along time now and I can make 1 for myself and to sell. Thanks so much again for your clear and easy to follow instructions. Again you're a superb teacher. I do have 1 question do you prefer nanofil to fireline? Im a fireline gal so just curious if nanofil is better or stronger? Sincerely, your new bead buddy Melissa Doucette from Florida

    • @GinasGemCreations
      @GinasGemCreations  4 года назад

      I definitely prefer Nanofil. I like Fireline, I used it for years, but Nanofil is smoother, stronger and smaller in diameter. Because it is smaller you can use higher test weights, which is stronger, and still sew through your beads many times without filling them up too fast. Try it, you will like it.

  • @melissadoucette278
    @melissadoucette278 4 года назад

    Hello again Gina!! Sorry I have another question: I noticed that in your videos you don't knot the tail thread or secure it by weaving in; is this going to hold up?. It's just that I've always been taught to leave enough of a tail thread to do half hitch knots or to secure it by knitting the 2 threads after you make your initial circle. I'm just curious as to how well it holds up. Thanks so much for all your hard work you put into your awesome tutorials. Sincerely, your new bead buddy Melissa Doucette

    • @GinasGemCreations
      @GinasGemCreations  4 года назад

      I don’t usually knot the tail or initial circle because the knot blocks the beads. I sew through and secure the initial stitch. Depending on the design or stitch, I find that by the time I do the stitching through each unit, it is very secure. Sometimes I knot, sometime I sew the tail back through, but most of the time, I find it’s secure enough and I don’t have to knot. I sew through my beads a lot, my pieces do not fall apart.💕

    I'm new at this and absolutely love watching your videos. I have a couple of "newbie" questions...
    When you put the four bicones on the base of the cross you said three wasn't enough and four was a tad bit too much. Could you make the base 7 beads tall instead of just 6?
    When you worked your way back to the top to add the bale you went around the 6mm bicone in the middle. Why not go straight through it?
    xoxo

    • @GinasGemCreations
      @GinasGemCreations  6 лет назад

      +Bobby McGovern Hi Bobby, you can add or subtract as many beads as you want to the bottom of the cross, artistic license, it's in your hands, if you see a better way, try it!
      Too many beginning Beaders believe that they have to follow a pattern exactly to make it work. The pattern is just a map, you can always take side roads. if you see a better way take it. Or if you just want to add your own touch to it, do that too. As far as the way I sew at the end, you can travel through anyway did you find will work, without leaving a lot of thread in something other than the original thread path.
