Thank you... I really like that Airfix are re-releasing these old kits as 'Vintage Classics', as it gives us who missed out previously a chance to build them now, this time around.. :) I had not yet started building models in 1966..
Nice little model and a simple and effective little base Rob . l love the old Airfix kits and although more detail obsessed modellers put them down l prefer them to the modern kits with fiddley parts , photo esch , tiny individual track links and 6 parts where 2 would suffice . Really like the old Matchbox kits reissued by Revell .too . Happy New Year and keep the video's coming .
Thank you.. and yes, we are on the same mindset there, I'm forever grateful to Revell for re-issuing so many of the old Matcbox kits. Sometimes modern kits are overengineered and could be simplified in many ways, making the kits cheaper and the builds quicker. Then again it seems like many of todays builders crave insane detail.. but that's where the after market gurus come in, I think. Then again, that is the beauty of this hobby of ours, there is something for everyone.. :)
Thanks... and yes, I bought it as a quick build, but I'm glad I made the effort to add the clear parts, it wouldn't have looked as good with big gaping holes.. :)
Very nice. You have given the Aifix kit a new shine. Great work with the Matador and interestingly done covers on the artillery gun. The parts goes wonderfully with the diorama. Very nice cobblestone street. It was worth it, Rob. Have further great ideas for new projects in the hobby. Best wishes for the upcoming new year. Greetings, Joachim
Thank you, Joachim.. I find this group build very inspirational for my model building, although my little Krupp Protze is a slow project at the moment, due to the festive season. But it should hopefully get done by next week and then I can start my Ferret. :) Happy New Year! :)
Thank you... and yes, the lack of clear parts spoil the kit, but that's what they did in 1966. I guess the technology wasn't as advanced as it is now and making thin clear parts were not as easy. It's definitely worth getting some clear acetate sheets though, and try to make the windshields etc. I was thinking of detailing the gun and drilling a hole for the barrel, but in the end it was easier and quicker to just do a cover.. :)
Missed you Video ... sorry my friend ... a classic kit superbly built and painted ... cool 😊👍 thanks mate, cheers Markus
Thank you, Marcus.. Glad you liked it! 😁
Wonderul. I was on my mini-break so I had to see it. 😊😊
Thank you for dropping by... ;)
Another nice build from you Rob. Great old kit, I still have mine that I built in 1966.

I have this kit stopped because of the windows. Going to try with acetate. Like the gun cover, looks nice. Happy new year Rob.

I can only hope to be good as you one day
You have the gun barrel on upside down
In that case I have to blame Airfix instructions, as I follwed their assembly msnusl..
Great build apart from the gun assembled wrong way up
I know.. I think it must be an Australian gun... 🤔
