    Nice ASMR episode, loved it. But I also love your northern dialect, which I can understand very well as a foreigner. Would like to see a silent episode now and then, but like the commented versions a little more. Had some concerns about Archie's front left paw at 1:02 -1:06 , but afterwards he seemed to be fine again.

      Thanks Timo, that’s actually very reassuring to hear. I’ll be sure talk EVEN MORE in future 😂
      Yeah, there is a moment when he looks like he’s nursing it, but he’s absolutely fine, and as cheeky as ever

    Great looking table there and I love the fact your not intermated by joinery and again showing what can be done. Have you tried Peter Sellers channel, Peter is old school and some of the tips he shows are really helpful was looking at the tenon saw cuts and one of his tips is to introduce a cutline. Looking forward to your future builds.

      Thanks, I appreciate that. I like the philosophy that everything is just an experiment, so I might as well try something and learn from it!
      I saw Erik Curtis make cut lines using a knife and chisel - I’m going to try it next time I’m starting the tenon saw, looks like a super smart technique

    Nice Pete! I'd be careful with oiling the worktop. Don't leave untreated wood on the bench, because the oil might stain it. Don't ask me how I know.

      Oh no! I’m going to put an offcut down right now and leave it overnight. I’ll report back

      Ha! So true. But I can confirm I’ve had no issues with oil staining wood left out on the workbench. I reckon it’s the layer of beeswax that’s sealed it

    Hi Pete, first of all Kudos To you for what you’ve achieved as a self proclaimed non professional, I have seen a lot of “Professional Work” over my career which isn’t a patch on your project, but one thing is bugging me, I know that you’re a hardy Northerner, but have you plans to enclose your two sided driveway workshop?, or do you intend to keep it open to the wind, and if so Why Please ? - Julie

    • @northernworks
      @northernworks  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your kind words, Julie. The main reason I’ve left it open this long is cost - I wanted to get on with some other projects - but I’ve started exploring a few designs to close up two of the sides. Mainly for noise and to keep the dust out of my neighbour’s garden. Look out for something on the channel later this year, no doubt 😅

    That looked absolutely solid! I wondered how you would get the top level, so it was really interesting to see that without a thicknesser/planer.
    Was there a particular reason the legs pieces were offset (one half touching the ground, other other slightly higher)?
    It's given me inspiration to look at my Workbench drawings again.. 😅

    • @northernworks
      @northernworks  Год назад

      It’s a great bench - super happy with it. I bought the cheapest electric planet I could from Screwfix a while back when I was doing the epoxy stool. Thought I’d try it for flattening the table top. You have to sooooo gentle with it though - it’ll tear through massive chunks of wood if you let it.
      Legs are only offset because I still haven’t quite decided on my final height. When I trim them, they’ll be flush.
