The Gloaming perform ’O'Sullivan's March’, 'Patsy Geary's' and ‘Doctor O’Neill’, music which features on their album The Gloaming 3.
Rest in Peace, Dennis Cahill. I have absolutely no words for this loss.
oh,no. I hadn't heard. Sad
I'm not Irish, but this music is now inscribed on my soul. I especially love their playing of O'Sullivan's March - fragile, lyrical, straddling the axis between resignation and hope. The opening chords, the feathery lilt of the high fiddle, the G-string growls, the warp and weft of the lines - what a journey. I'm very sad I'll never get to see these guys play together live (RIP Dennis Cahill) but will treasure their recordings for a long time.
Thank you as always for your divine music.
My aunty June passed away.
She would love this.
I miss being able to call her.
She had the Irish strong in her veins though born in Sydney Australia in the 30's.
She was from the McGees and Caseys.
Thanks Gloaming.
Long may you reek.
Gab.
“Ireland is a land of poets and legends, of dreamers and rebels. All of these have music woven through and around them. Tunes for dancing or for weeping, for battle or for love.”

Hi Robin, seems like a similar timespan to me. LLangollen in January, '97, then Stoke in April 98, plus almost every year since then, either as a duo, The Gloaming or The Martin Hayes Quartet. So absolutely amazing!
I didn't know the history behind O'Sullivan's March until just now. For me, the song has always called to mind the time I fell in love with a man who changed my life. Early into knowing him, I took him to see The Gloaming. We came from different cultures, and he was mostly ambivalent to Irish music, but he wanted to join me. I remember he shifted forward when he heard this one, and we became transfixed as the refrain continued to grow. It became the song that explained my feelings for him--like an unexpected hand that slips into yours and stays with you, until suddenly you're enveloped. I didn't know I loved him until I one day I did.
It transported me out of USA and all fear into a heavenly dream. I was up all night in the gloaming
Always breathtakingly beautiful, The Gloaming, with it's most wonderful musicians: Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, Iarla O'Lionaird, Caoimhim O Raghallaigh and Thomas Bartlett each inspiring us with their unique special talent that sends our heart to another place. I love this band so much.
What’s uncertain about it? We’re all f^^^cked.
As soon as Thomas Bartlett hit the first note I was hooked.
Pure magic.
Stirs the soul; although O’Sullivans march & the context was such a truly tragic event in Gaelic Ireland’s history, it will always resonate & inspire pride & hope.
This makes my heart swell...
A wonderfully dreamy performance!
When these four amazing artists play together something incredible happens that is beyond words. This music is the language of the soul. Other worldly.
enchanting

Beautiful video, beautiful music, beautiful group!!!
Didn't want it to end
This *one* performance made Doctor O'Neill my favorite jig ever. I've been waiting for this upload for over a _year_ .
Thank you.
ancora tanta bellezza
How did I miss this video!
Please release a live DVD!
Just gorgeous
Bliss.
Extraordinary. I have listened to this performance several times. The video is wonderful. Brilliant editing, thank you team! Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (Kevin O'Reilly) is a better Irish fiddler than Martin Hayes in my opinion. Given the choice I would prefer to listen to him.

Was waiting for that piano player to go full Tori Amos...
