    Triple H buried Booker T at WM 19 was one of the worst booking decision

    • @xxSandt21xx
      @xxSandt21xx Год назад +62

      It says a lot about Booker’s character that he considers Hunter a very close friend these days. I wouldn’t have been so forgiving after being put in a racist angle only to be buried at the end

    • @heisensaul5538
      @heisensaul5538 Год назад +35

      To me it sounds like Booker T was originally going to win. However, Vince McMahon decided that WrestleMania 19 was Brock Lesnar's night and no other titles were to change hands. Outside of that, Triple H may have buried Booker T, but we don't know. All we know is what Vince decided and it ruined that storyline. It was a stupid decision on their part to do a race based storyline in the first place.

    • @cubanp3te84
      @cubanp3te84 Год назад +8

      Vince should have ended it in a double dq or double count out

    • @heisensaul5538
      @heisensaul5538 Год назад +3

      @@cubanp3te84 I dont disagree with that, but I think people still would have been upset if they would have done a dusty finish or a double count out or something like that, and there still would have been the same probably of race in the first place. If they would have had Booker win the title at WM and then have it go back to HHH the next night on RAW for some reason, it might have gone over better.

    • @frausteiner8615
      @frausteiner8615 Год назад +14

      I actually really liked the storyline until that point. The racism was okay because obviously Booker T was going to win and prove Triple H wrong. The fact that they ended up having HHH win was absolutely deranged.

      @@HectorPryorYT Problem is WWE would have acknowledge their part in the CTE and they don't want to do that. Hell anyone should go back and look at Benoit's matches and look at the crazy bumps he took to his head. Including taking a suicide dive into a chair shot to the head from Edge at full velocity. The diving headbutt being another contender for also causing CTE especially since he did it off a damned Steel Cage.
      People demonize Benoit but don't want think that the Brain damage could have easily caused him to do what he did to his wife and kids, then when he came out of the fog he then ended his own life.
      Doctors looked at his brain and his brain was that of an 70 plus year old with either dementia or alzheimer's from the repeated shots he took to the head.
      Last I checked anyone that has had a serious brain injury has gone through similar things just not as extreme. Antonio Brown for example has gone through some insanely crazy antics after take the infamous hit that literally made him go completely limp from a cheap shot to the head from Vontaze Burfict.
      This is why I would like the wrestling business to retire the diving headbutt as well as the chair shots to the head before another situation like Benoit can occur.
      The thing is we may never know for sure how Benoit actually was behind closed doors but the repeated shots to the head most definitely doesn't help it.

    For as much as the Rock has cultivated the lovely, ‘nicest guy in Hollywood’ persona, he will always be the guy who took liberties with someone else’s health in that 1999 match. You didn’t need to be a CTE or brain damage specialist even back then to know that smashing somebody on the head with a chair multiple times was batshit. The fact Foley agreed to 3 and The Rock decided to nearly quadruple that will always show just what kind of person he can be. I’ve always held a little bit of contempt in my heart for him after that match.

      @@spacequack5470 WWE didn't know much more about CTE than the wrestlers did. So how can anyone get sued over it.
      Unless WWE knew about it, and kept it from wrestlers, I would argue that it is just as much the responsibility of the wrestlers to educate themselves about it as for the medics and the company.
      Also, there was always more chance of getting head trauma as a wrestler, than say, as an office worker. They chose that profession, because it is their dream. They should be protected, but also need to take personal responsibility for their job choice.
      Ask any wrestler, if they had their time over, would they choose to be a wrestler again, or have a safer, albeit boring profession, a normal 9 to 5 job with little chance of CTE. Most would still want to wrestle, as they are doing their dream job.
      Society is too quick to sue and blame everyone else for their own choices and not take personal responsibility for their decisions,
      Also, wrestlers make enough to be able to cover their own medical expenses. Or they can get insurance. That is the test. Will insurance companies cover CTE and to what extent? That should tell the client how dangerous their sport is perceived.
      The only people who win in lawsuits are lawyers.
      CTE is serious, but wrestlers need to protect themselves as well.
      What's next? Suing for arm injuries, neck injuries.
      Wrestlers should get insurance (which WWE might contribute something to) and then they are covered and it can be kept out of the courtroom.

I am a 90's kid and I have come to appreciate my childhood so much more in the past 7 years or so and videos like this warm me up with so much awesome nostalgia of the great MAINSTREAM entertainment of the 90's. There was no Cancel Culture even just 15 years ago, so Wrasslin' in the 90's was Cool and Counter Coulter. I remember in the 8th grade, DX t shirts were BANNED from school because of their iconic catch phrase Suck It! (But of course banning us from wearing DX stuff only made us rebel and wear them more.)

    For example, towards the end of the broadcast, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler started talking less about Christ himself and more about his wife and son. JR then ended the show by saying "Chris was a damn fine wrestler, and that's all I'll say.", as if everyone knew what Chris had done by that point.

    One thing to add is Zach Gowen being senslessly beaten by Brock Lesnar & abused by Vince McMahon. It was a story angle that dealt with Zach being an amputee. Being bullied because of a disability is terrible and would not work in today's wrestling.
