My Speedy 30 is around 19 years old and it still looks amazing. I also removed the lock from the side tab so not to stretch out the tab. The patina on my bag is still a light honey. I now wipe my bag and the vachetta portion of the bag with a clean white damp cloth and strangely any marks on my vachetta disappeared. It looks even and beautiful. I think something happens to the vachetta as it ages and it had absorbed enough sun but my bag doesn’t get any more water marks. It dries beautifully. I polish the lock and key from time to time and attach them to a bag charm and use them as decoration.
I just use the base insert and I find it works really well. It helps to keep the base flat, how it should be, in order to keep the sides firm (in shape). I don’t like organiser because I prefer to throw everything inside.
The base shapner I heard like the lining of the bag around it I forgot what it’s called but it kind of makes that get destroyed a lot faster that’s what I’ve just been told and when I found out from my friend who has a speedy because she used to use one like it when it was Ruining bag she took it out But each their own
