Walt, meeting you was the highlight of my first trip to Hamvention. Your enthusiasm and pure joy for this hobby shows in every video you do. I really enjoy the fact that when I watch one of your videos you teach instead of doing reviews of some new gadget. Keep doing what you're doing, and hope to see you again next year at Hamvention. 73, Greg N4GDD
Hi Walt, yes such a ham vestion is also a social event meat and great and shaking hands. I also use the 12.5 m spider beam mast, it is just great thing, nice and high. Thanks for sharing your trip to the event👍 Ron
Missed you there Walt; thought I saw you walking away from where I was once but didn’t catch you again. I did see you met KK7IMA whom I just met for the first time as well. You are correct about the best part being the people. My first time as well. I met folks I have interacted with for years F2F for the first time, along with a lot of LICW members. Thanks for all you do! Hope to come back next year!
This was my first Hamvention too, and it was such a fun time! It flew by too fast. Nice meeting you and many other friendly hams. I picked up one of the 33' Spiderbeams. Can't wait to see your 40' go up their masts are nice.
looking forward to some fun antenna builds . looking into a bigger pole as well. some year I will make it. girlfriend had to work. she health care worker. lots of hours . we got the rain in NY as well. I am in Boston NY so the trip not too bad. hope you got to say hello to the Ducks . lots of new great stuff. 73's
Hamvention definitely is a great time. I went last year and probably would have made plans for this year had my deer camp group didn't schedule our spring work weekend on top of Hamvention. Hopefully next year I can make the trip again.
I ordered my DX 10M pole and 9:1 unun. I already picked up a MFJ-911H "4:1/1:1 Balun/unun switchable". I have 49:1 wind up thing already. And G90. I will practice in my yard. Here in Jax FL I can get good and head to the beaches in the morning when things cool down in the Fall. I'm motivated from watching your videos.
Hi Walt. Well Buddy, it looks like you had a fantastic Hamvention, that's great. All the people who wanted photos with you, eh? It pales into insignificance the one or two people who delight in putting your channel down, & just goes to show how much people like you, & your channel, plus you always come across as a likeable guy? Yeah, a nice guy that produces a very innovative, informative & interesting channel, with content backed by proven trial & experimentation. Many thanks. 73 de Pete GI0FZT.
Walt, it was such a pleasure meeting you there! This was the second time I've attended and the best Hamvention ever! In the short time in being a ham, I've learned a lot from you about antennas. Thank you so much for the knowledge you spread throughout the Amateur Radio community. Hope to meet again my friend..... Brian, KE8OVP
Hi Walt, Glad that you had a good time. I’m considering a return trip to Xiena next year, maybe. HamCation is just down the road from me, while we “Sno-Bird” here in Florida during the winter - perhaps… Welcome back home. AC3EA
Loved the video Walt, much thanks. Never been to Dayton, would like to go someday. That XTenna unit is exactly what I need, can't wait until he has it on his website. I've been trying to think of a way to use painter's poles for more than wire antennas and the one problem I keep on coming across is how the hell to attach the antenna at the top!
@COASTALWAVESWIRES Hi Walt, I too purchased the 12m Spiderbeam HD. It really is a well made mast! You're going to love it. Oh and because I have watched you use the Xiegu G90 and seen how great it is, I got one for myself. Can't wait to set it up!
New ham here and I've been learning a ton from your videos! Started making contacts all over on my 41' speakerwire antenna and X6100 just this week! I've been thinking about joining arrl but now I want to do it just to read your article! I'm just gonna wait till they're done with being hacked 😬 73 homie! Oh and I'm in SEPA so I'm gonna look into the chesapeak club
Hello Walt, nice wrap-up. It seems that the trimmed grey beard+mustache is the dress code for hams over there 😁 Maybe I should stop shaving? Good luck with the 12m Spiderbeam. I have one of these but I seldom use it because I really, really struggle to lift it when deployed and seat it into the PVC tube I have cut to plant in soft ground (kind of like yours). It's too heavy. And if there's some wind, I just can't do it at all. It might just be me having too weak arms 😆 I haven't found anything to set it up when on firmer ground either because its diameter at the base is well over 50mm, hard to find any sun umbrella stand for something this big.
Hi Walt, Was hoping to make my first Hamvention this year, but it just didn't work out. Keeping fingers crossed for next year. You're going to like that Spiderbeam 12m pole. Did you get the HD version? I have two of the standard 12m poles and have had them out back for seven years no guys wires and they have withstood 70 plus mph wind gusts. 73 WJ3U
It was my first hamvention also walt. Only one I saw was mike K8mrd, but I was looking for ya. Maybe next time. Also I have that same length spider beam and that Xtenna EFHW

Glad you made it back safe I can't wait to see what antenna builds you have planned for us. So I can pick one for myself to build in the future.

Glad you enjoyed it! I haven't been to a Hamvertion for 30 years, at HARA Arena. Things have changed! Thanks for the peek!

Glad you had a good one, Walt! I was looking for you but didn't see you . Connected with a couple other RUclipsrs, though.

That S Beam is sturdy. I’ve had it out in 40mph sustained winds.

Awesome, my friend Mike WM4ST in the video with me bought a G90 at Hamvention.
These events are great to meet people and see that Sad Hams are a tiny minority
Absolutely!

Great video with Tentech. Was the price of the ATU really $6,495.00?
Thank you very much! Yes it was really that price.
Good work Walt! I'm interested in your fibreglass roof. What car is that? I'm guessing a jeep.
Thanks! Yes it is a four door Jeep Wrangler
@COASTALWAVESWIRES nice ride 👌

Hahaha maybe someday
Looks like a lot of fun. KO4HPC 73
