Brilliant tutorial as always Karolyn. Thank you.
Hi Karolyn , Iris here again. I just got my first real professional cake order for an Attorney whose daughter is also graduating from law school. I’m going over your fantastic book video to include a law book on the cake. Talk about being scare! Anyway I hope I could make it as great as you did. Wish me luck! Thank you so very much for all your wonderful videos. 🥰👏

Thank you love! 💜
Wow!!!!
Great tutorial. The new technique I learnt was coating the fondant with shortening to remove corn starch. I was waiting to see how you handle that. Thank you ❤
Glad it was helpful! 💜🙏
Thank you for thia video
You're welcome 😊
Your so amazing!
Thank you so much!!
Hi Karolyn! You make it look so easy☺ I love your scissor technique! I saw you used shortening to make the book shine, my question is do you ever use a steamer instead? If not, could you please share your reasoning. Thank you for all your hard work in filming, editing & posting because this all takes some time!♥♥
I've never used one just because I don't feel like buying one and the shortening works just as well! Maybe I'll invest in one some day LOL
Looks awesome! You should really try using a steamer. It takes off the cornstarch and add a shine.
Yeah I forgot to mention that you can use a steamer instead of the shortening!
Hola karol Bellísimo
Loved the wax paper folded for the corners. I would have tried to find one thing tall to brace it on. 😅 thank you as always!!!
Glad it was helpful!🙌
Hi karolyn! What size cake board did you use?
Karolyn, get your yourself some wig pins to secure your towels to the pan. Makes life so much easier!
Ahhh yes, great tip thank you!
How do you clean the wood dowels and the yardstick that you use with your cakes? I know they are dirty when bought from the store, but I don't know how to clean them so that you don't have to cover them with something. I've tried using water and vinegar, but the wood always gets a "rough" exterior after having the water on them. Thank you!
I rinse them like you, but I do it quickly and try not to get the stick too wet so it doesn't get rough. I hope that makes sense!
This book cake is definitely a versatile cake design, so many ideas come to mind especially a cute fairytale book… Lol I just went crazy the other day trying to find the rubber feet on my cake leveler lol beware those rubber feet can come up missing sometimes 😂…
There are so many options with this!
And I actually take those rubber feet off and throw them away, I feel like it slides so much better without them. I'll send them to you next time 😂
@@KarolynsKakes 😂 really I tried to use them without the rubber feet and it made that screeching noise on my countertop!! Lol send them way!!
Hello
May I ask a quick question?? Do you ever get a cake you just do not want to do! Someone requested a cake with gold sprinkles on the side (buttercream icing) top layer of cake. I thought oh ok. well now she has changed it to rose gold luster dust! Is it hard to paint on buttercream and still be shiny? Also can I use the gold luster dust to paint a caramel drip? Lol! How much do I owe you for your advice?
All the time. I will usually turn down orders I don't want to do. But when you accept and order and then they change it...that's more challenging. I personally don't like to paint buttercream. I find that fondant is easier to paint and it doesn't show imperfections like buttercream does. I've never painted a caramel drip, so I'm not sure if it sets hard enough to paint without distorting it. I have painted a candy melt ganache with no problem though. And you don't owe me anything, I hope that helps! 💜🙏
How do you remove the sweating? For sure after sitting inside the fridge overnight the cake will start to sweat.
Here's a video where I talk about it! You MUST bring the cake into a cold, air conditioned room. If you don't have air conditioning, I don't recommend you refrigerate your cakes because condensation will ruin it!
ruclips.net/video/bBPjGzEMZaw/видео.html
I’ve always read not to put fondant in fridge on cake because it will sweat is that not true?
I don't listen to those "rules"! I refrigerate ALL of my fondant cakes. You just have to learn how to work with refrigerated cakes if you decide to do that. You can't remove a cake from the fridge and bring it into a warm space because condensation will form. Here's a video I made about it: ruclips.net/video/bBPjGzEMZaw/видео.html
Pls what's the measurements of your sheet cake ,I mean the length and height
I used a 1/4 sheet cake in a 2" high pan.
So it was a 9"wide x 13"long x 2" high pan.
I cut the sheet cake in half and stacked one on top of the other.
So the book is 9"long x 6.5"wide x 4" high
