Hey guys do you think there is a case for Bergrenn to be in the top 6? I thought he’s played better than vlad, compher, & copp. So had Kasper but he was promoted, what do you think?
I thought he should have been in the top 6 a long time ago. He was one of the only players creating offense. He greatly improved his defense and play along the boards. Tarasenko did nothing to deserve being in the top 6, his turnover cost then the game and 0 accountability for him
Couple things here. Kane's age, I think, is finally catching up with him. He *has* lost a step, and while it's disappointing, is it really all that unexpected? Two... Talbot has been a very bright spot. I didn't want Gibson because he's old, and while Talbot is an upgrade over him, I was still somewhat disappointed when we signed him. But he's been great, all things considered. As a bonus, I've said since the start of this mediocre season that if Lalonde is fired, it'll be in the summer. While I'd love to see Stevie have a line of guys waiting to take coaching spots, I think we're more likely to see wholesale changes in April rather than now. We need changes from head coach to professional scouts, penalty kill, all the way down the line. PP is good, goaltending is decent for who we have, but Lalonde shouldn't be the only one in the firing line.
Yzerman is just about out of time to make a change in an extremely tight division. It's not impossible, but i just don't see Lalonde guiding them out of this.
Lalondes system combined with this roster is a nightmare. The players are clearly rejecting the system. There’s no passion no joy, no energy, and no accountability. Lalonde actually thinks this is eventually going to work….. I just want him gone, even if the team recovered and played halfway decent, I have a sour taste in my mouth for Egghead.
Great point. "Lalonde thinks this is eventually going to work..." is the perfect phrase. Hard-core Yzerplan Fans say the same thing have been for a couple of years. In addiction treatment they quote Albert Einstein, "Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results, is the pure definition of insanity."
@@puckhndler that’s literally what this is lol. Yzerman thinks he’s a lot smarter than he is. He walked into Tampa with Hedmen and Stamkos already drafted, not sure about Kucherov. Just because you were the Wings captain for years, doesn’t mean I automatically trust your judgement and you can do no wrong. A lot of people in denial out there about Steve. The fact that he hasn’t fired Lalonde yet is a huge “screw you” to the fans. It’s been years of bad and mediocre hockeys and we just took a step backwards, because of Yzermans bad singings including hiring egg head.
Part of the reason Cat scored under 30 goals last year is his new focus on the defensive side of things. He was leaps and bounds better defensively last year than any before that, and is doing it again this year while still being one of our best offensive forwards. Would love to see him crack 30 this year, though.
I was at the game. You notice things more in person than on TV. I agree with a previous poster stating that the Wings are clearly rejecting Lalonde's system. I thought that in the first period and first half of the second they had good energy, some jump and had chances. When Raymond tied it I thought they'd go up 2-1, but about halfway through the game the sloppy play returned, they looked lackadaisical, missing the net constantly on shots, turnovers and just poor execution. I was surprised that Kane looked noticably slower than last season. I wonder if he's just not skating and wants Lalonde fired? DeBrincat looked awful. He was constantly missing the net and was a turnover machine. They really have to make the change right now. I think Gallant would be a perfect fit. Stevie needs to wake up. I honestly think he should be fired too if the doesn't make a coaching change soon. They need some shakeups.
So here is my take on the turnovers. Number 1 changing the lines every game. Number 2 the players and coaching style are not in sync probably because the players actually want to win games. Number 3 Detroits passing isn’t superb to begin with. Number 4 seider and edvisson are taking the brunt of the defensive metrics with edvisson being a rookie pretty much he will make some bad passes. Keep in mind Lalonde prefers petry over Johansson. Fast young kid that might make mistakes as a rookie or slow old guy that will make mistakes with his walking cane
You cannot win a game with 14 turnovers in the 3rd period. No passion on or off the ice. Post game interviews say it all. Lalonde, at least publicly, has absolutely no leadership skills. Need some fire in the belly
Besides Lalonde you have Petry, Holl, and Chiarot boat anchors. Veleno and Ras are doing nothing and I think that they have trade value, but I don't trust Yzerman to get a good return. Time to sweep up and try to save the evolving good draft picks that we had.
Honestly, I'd rather have Quenville over Gallant. Idk if it's true, but I heard that Yzerman and Gallant didn't get along very well as teammates. Could that have anything to do with the delay?
@ I would prefer Quenneville too. I think the delay would be more on the off ice issues Quenneville has then gallant and yzerman on ice issues. But I also think it’s money related. I think Lalonde contract ends at the end of the season. If Detroit fires Lalonde then they still have to finish paying him till the end of the season. And also pay a new coach. Best guess is that the illitch family would rather ride this season out and save that money. But firing Lalonde now would be better for the team. This year and next year.
@@spencerdobkin9479 at this point Lalonde is an actual problem for this org. I don’t think he’s malicious, but he’s CONVINCED this is the right system and he will try it as long as he thinks he needs to, meanwhile dragging the development of the players with it. He needs to go, no hard feelings but he HAS to go. I 100% believe the player don’t respect or agree with him.
"Doing the same thing over and over is the pure definition of insanity." We lose because of poor coaching, then we win one and everybody says, "Hey, we can do this..." until the next loss. If Lalonde stays, we end April with 65 points or less. If he goes and soon, we might be able to scratch our way in and maybe even do well in the first round. Lalonde's system will not work. We're wasting talent, we're wasting good players. Or we're trading them off. The die hard Yzerplan people keep waiting for the rainbow to appear. Not to beat this is in, but Ghost and Walman are scoring or assisting like crazy. Tarasenko is a slug. Kaspar and Mo are getting wasted, Kapsar is a time bomb waiting to go off, but the Lalondeplan keep peeing on the timer. Hull and Charot are not the same caliber as Ghost and Walman. Maybe we could pick up Callaway as a sponsor. We'll need em in May.
I think it’s funny. The biggest mistake and failure by yzerman isn’t copp or Holl or Husso they all can be explained. His biggest failure is Lalonde. I mean with a good coach. Holl and Husso would never even play right now lol. They would only affect salary cap. Lalonde can’t make a line to save his life. At least not completely. He might get a few lines right then fuck up the other ones.
When are Yzerman & LaLonde going to be fired? Just what is the Yzerplan? Yzerman missed on getting Montgomery, and gets a pass on everything. LaLonde is not a good coach and year 6 of the 15 year Yzerplan has produced next to nothing. I want them both fired and start over!!!!!
Best guess. Lalonde is fired at some point this season. Either now or end of season. I’m a huge yzerman fan but I think 2025 will be his final year if he doesn’t make the playoffs. 2024 was always going to be a harder year. Based off old contracts. Sieder and Raymond resigning and a few more rookies not quite ready to make the jump. But a lot of that changes next offseason. 2025 has a lot of upside with it. Giving yzerman everything he needs to grab a really good defenseman and good rookies. Plenty of cap to do so.
So if yzerman fails to make the playoffs in 2025 he will probably get fired. He won’t be fired this year tho. 2024 was supposed to regress. And he has some excuse for it. But it should be dead obvious he has to fire Lalonde. Either now or later. The sooner he does it the better off Detroit will be this yesr
You guys don't know "suffering" as you put it. We are not the Maple Loafs. They've been re-building for another cup since 1967. Just relax. We'll be in the playoffs this year.
The turnovers are not the problem, the problem is THIS TEAM CAN"T SCORE! Yzerman, LaLonde and about half of the roster must go. They skate in quicksand and they have outlawed body checks. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turnovers are directly linked to scoring…. If you don’t have the puck you cannot score. Possession means you have a chance to create offense while also preventing your opponent from scoring. We have more giveaways than any other team on the league.
