He said it was something wrong with the audio, and that the crowd was actually good
ik the crowd was shit
From what I've heard, the goal was to actually keep the crowd quiet because of audio issues and the judges could barely hear them, so they had to try and keep crowd quiet. I've seen videos though, the crowd was quite lit just not loud.

This is actually wrong if im not mistaken. Look in the comments of the original video. D-Low himself wrote that the crowd was on fire. The production team only used the beatboxing sound in the uploaded yt video and not the one of the whole crowd! If they would have recorded on a larger scale the beatboxing quality wouldn’t have been as good! I hope i could clear things up
