Hi! This vid covers how I light and manage the pizza stone temperature using the Ooni Fyra 12! I also have some Smokey Chimney ASMR in there too!

Nice video. A few things… try adding pellets very slowly during initial light and only a half scoop or less at a time as adding too much too fast will smother the flame. As you did, blowing into the back a little will usually get it going again.
As far as helping pellets drop, try using a skinny round metal file and gently poking the pellets from the top once in a while. You’ll feel and see them fall into the tray and works much better than banging on the hopper. I’ve found that tapping the hopper can make the flu close , since as you mentioned, they tend to be loose. If that happens, hopefully you catch it in time before the flame goes out. Also, to fix this, try putting a metal washer under the nut that holds the flu in the chimney. That will keep it in place and add more resistance. Another option is to remove the flue from the chimney and stretch the springs out to add tension. Ooni will replace the chimney if requested but the new one will eventually have the same problem, so you’re better off fixing it yourself. Hope that helps
Great oven, once you master the learning curve , which is steep but makes it fun

Thanks for your super pellet tips! I need to fix the chimney as you say, I may remove it completely as I never need to close the flu for any reason so will do that. Not sure if the Ooni 3 chimney fits - I have the 3 chimney which works great and the flu never closed when I tapped the hopper with that! So will try that too. Thank you!

Excellent. I especially liked the shot of the smoke from the oven overlaying the cloud above.

Funny, the title "How I light the Ooni Fyra" caught my attention but your video never shows you lighting the Fyra! I'll go watch again. I was hoping for "lighting and fire starting tips"

Hi - I light it using the gas burner through the back vent with a full load of pellets in the grate. I don’t use any other lighting accessories and once it’s lit, I keep topping up the hopper. Hope that helps.

I read a guy say some ash and debris go into the stone from time to time while using it. Is it safe to brush it to the side while the oven is lit?

Hi - yes I've done that too - I use a long bristle pizza brush with a heat glove on to do that as the oven is quite low so it doesn't touch your hand. I brush it out the front of the oven too if needs be.

I have also a Ooni Fyra, happy with the pizza, but my pellets stick in the pellet hopper, so I have to shake the hopper to get the pellets down. More people with the same issue?

Hi - yes - this happened in the ooni 3 as well as the pellets sort of stick in the hopper and so it just needs a firm tap and that dislodges them down into the grate!

Yes, same problem. It’s too much to manage when you have to cook multiple pizzas. I’ve tried loading up the hopper, and have tried only a little pellets every few minutes, but the fire goes out eventually either way. I will try tapping the hopper from time to time (with a fuller hopper), and finding a metal rod to persuade the ash to drop down. Maybe pellet type helps too. I noticed you are using Ooni pellets. I’ve been using Traeger pellets. Maybe the Ooni ones work better? Maybe I need a Karu 16 oven with gas.
