मराठी भाषेला अभिजात भाषेचा दर्जा देण्यात आला आहे. केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाच्या बैठकीत भारतातल्या पाच भाषांना अभिजात भाषेचा दर्जा देण्याचा निर्णय मंजूर करण्यात आला. यानंतर मराठीसह पाली, आसामी, प्राकृत आणि बंगाली भाषेलाही अभिजात भाषेचा दर्जा देण्यात आला आहे. विधानसभा निवडणुकीच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर केंद्र सरकारने हा मोठा निर्णय घेतला आहे.
