it is scripted, there are storylines between them, where they hate each other (in story) for some reason, but in theory they are trying to win each match, and eventually win the championships (regional and world titles, and tag team) so they can say they are the best, and also (in story) get paid more, that goes for the men and women. but even tho it is scripted, there is still a lot of injuries, altho i think more of the injuries come from landing wrong on something then the actual impact of a move. if they get really popular with the fans they will more likely get more money and more likely to work, if nobody cares about them, they can get fired and end up giving up or get better somehow and come back. really popular wrestlers make money selling shirts and such, plus may get movie deals or whatever. as some others have said, you should watch more wrestling NOT just wwe, but AEW and ECW.
