    i cant see why on earth you are getting rid of valuable water sources.Its mad filling in when one day you all will need the water for crops,and not roads

      Did you actually watch the full video? They didn't fill the lake in, they built a road right beside it. There's a difference between the two. Surely engineers thought this out first before they started working on it.

    When I retire next year,I will have accumulated a little over 50,000 hrs.building roads in some of the most steepest and dangerous ground,operating D8,9’s,10’s,finishing my career on a D11 R pioneering roads,I read these comments criticizing the operator,probably none of them have ever operated anything except there mouths

    The guys on the bulldozers are terrible. Quit stopping and quit raising your blade. Push till your blade is empty. A long smooth path is what you want. Then just keep cutting down to widen and compact.

  • @alibarron7558
    @alibarron7558 Год назад +3

    It would save a lot of machine time and material if they had a surveyor layout the toe of the slope for the operator and give them a distance to fill to get the final elevation, also the roadway would look better and be easier to maintain. Just in that short distance they would save many thousands of dollars.

      @@davidhorn6008 Good operators are gold. Good operators can read survey stakes from on top of the equipment. A good grader operator is definitely worth his weight. Now with lasers, we don't see many good grade checkers.

    I guess the road is being made kind of backwards so it can be built very narrowly, but it's hugely wasteful of time and fuel, and the view from the drone at the end shows just how poor the camber and levels are. Much better to build a turning area every 150m or so, so that the road can be built better and much more cheaply...

    It is amazing to watch this guy at work. First if they plan on this being a dike to hold back water on one side of the roadbed, they need to get rid of all the vegetation before installing the road base material. Second is that with all that vegetation under the roadway, as it rots, in a few years, the base material will start to sink into the voids created by the rotting grass, wood, ect. Third, if they want the material further down the road, they should be backing the dump trucks up the newly constructed roadway, and dumping at the end, not in the center, then push with the bulldozer toward the end of the road.
    Yes running a tracked 50,000 pound bulldozer over the new road base will compact it a lot, but not if you keep moving around the material.
    Looking at the 4 axle dump truck, I can tell it is not in the United States. The inspectors here would not allow construction over the grass and other vegetation.
    When the dike failed in Vanport Oregon, back in 1948, it was mainly due to the lack of water tight materials that the railroad used to construct the rail bed, and they never had concern for the rail line to be water proof. But during a flood, the water on the upstream side was several feet deeper than the side facing the city, and it basically gave way, because it was not constructed to keep the water out of the fill material. The fill material became saturated, and washed away.
    With this roadway sitting on vegetation, any water on one side will eventually start to wash away the fill material. It will be fine if both sides have equal water levels.

      Very interesting but I ask with the whole thing is built with DRY DIRT .With water on both sides How do you KEEP the water FROM (WICKING) INTO the DRY DIRT .AS long as the dirt is in contact with the WATER its GOING to WICK into the DRY DIRT . I GROW TOMATOES WITH WICK WATERING THATS WHY I THOUGHT THIS THING WITH DUMPING DIRT INTO WATER WAS STRANGE!

      Here it is called "Informal on the job training" This road work is non critical, and not connected to any common roadways. Some day this operator will be highly skilled and makes a decent living. He in turn will teach others.
