It’s poetic how Starscream’s last time onscreen with him, *screaming among the stars*
"In 2016, the Unite Warriors toyline turned Starscream into a combiner"
Heh talk about a phantom limb
OHHHHHHHHH **airhorns**
What is "phantom limb"?
@@jacobcaraway1754 Phantom limb syndrome is a condition in which patients experience sensations, whether painful or otherwise, in a limb that does not exist. It has been reported to occur in 80-100% of amputees, and typically has a chronic course, often resistant to treatment.
@@Sora_Likes_Memes Okay, how does that work?
@@jacobcaraway1754 Probably muscle memory to muscles that aren't really there, I guess?
Starscream’s Ghost is an example of the “Indomitable Human Spirit”.
Well, he's not a human, so more like the Indomitable Robotic Spirit
The ghost of starscream has outlasted his original voice actor, series, and the concept of the series itself. The starscream is even a narrative character type. He is truly an immortal traitor
It's still a cool scene, when Starscream realizes, that Galvatron is Megatron.
And that short dialogue is absolutely great:
"Megatron, is that you?" - "Here's a hint!"
Starscream got the last laugh. G1 Galvatron was killed by a friendship Circle while G1 Starscream's Ghost still wonders the Multiverse. Only Starscream himself knew that he would outlast Megatron and he was right.
@@christianfrost8660dude you may have the best comment of all time😂
This is bad comedy *insert laugh track*
*Dinobot:* “This whole ship is a ghost. Starscream is a ghost.
*Starscream:* “You have no idea…”
He also possesses the other Transformers.
Spooky how the ghost of starscream wasn ot only more powerful than his physical form...but jumped through franchises
I feel like Starscream is the most powerful transformers in the franchise
@@darkneon5637 Wouldn't say in franchise, we have lots of anime level galaxy busters. But in like G1 sunbow cartoon itself...kinda true.
He has the biggest powers of them all....there's not a permanent way to shut him up. XD
@@darkneon5637 Not to mention Underbase powered Starscream!
@@clownplayer7265 His spark is mutated according to some media.
I can imagine Starscream having realistic out-of-body experiences because of this ability to become a ghost.
One small addition: At the end of IDW's first Transformers universe, it was revealed that Starscream's ghost was "haunting" Bumblebee, flipping the dynamic they shared for a few years
@Tara Lamb I don't think so? Centurion was the "hearts of Steel" Bumblebee that later appeared during "Infestation". Bumblebee's "ghost" survived in another dimenstion(?) created by SHockwave in the ruins of Crystal City
I always rather liked that.
Starscream. Just like Dio Brando, he won’t stay dead.
I liked Starscream because he was funny. Always trying to find a way to replace Megatron as leader of The Decepticons. Lol. 😄
You know the idea of an immortal spirit that isn't tethered to time and space and can control just about any sentient being would make for a kinda horrifying character. However, that character being Starscream really softens that terror because he's just too much of a lovable goofball to be really scared of.
Lol
Then just hope there aint a way that megatron can give himself starscreams power
Wait until someone makes a grimdark transformers fanfic.
@@clownplayer7265 I’m waiting for it
@@clownplayer7265 yessir... Waiting for that one too... They finally need to use G1 STARSCREAM as the threat he really is/should be, and just go all out... Str8 Evil!!!!
I remember how happy was when, as a child, Starscream reappeared as a ghost in G1, finally a well-known character within all those new bots. It also probably awaken in me certain morbid curiosity for dead fictional characters.
His appareance in Beast War just made me jump from the seat y say yessssss
I'm in Galvatron was still there and he's basically Megatron 2.0 Electric Boogaloo
His Beastwars appearance was one of my all time favorite episodes of that series
I love how the concept of the immortal starscream has still been such a mainstay to the franchise, be it symbolic or literal. Even Prime did a nod to this with sarscream using clones of himself that get
axed off, while he gets to stay alive
He also ended up in the phantom dimension for a while, making him intangible to others
Just seemed more of a watered down version of the Clones from Animated.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio the shadowzone? starscream's severed arm may have ended up there, but starscream himself was never trapped in the shadowzone. terrorcon skyquake and the kids jack, raf, and miko ended up in the shadowzone during s1e15, and they later trapped soundwave there in s3e13. if anything's a nod to immortal starscream, it's the fact that it totally seemed like he died at the end of predacons rising, but he showed up alive in robots in disguise 2015.
Damn bro, deleting my replies and your own? That's kinda cap lmao
I find very interesting how Starscream is such an important character to the Transformers, like, he is such a rich character full of betrayal, but also could become good like on Armada, or he can become Cosmically Powered or even be a Ghost, but he is always one of the most interesting parts of the lore!
Had no idea it all originated because they killed a character who was still on shelves!! 😂 That's just great, always something new to learn on TB
Fictional characters' most powerful skill that can even save them from death:
Market demand and offer.
Megatron was done but there were two characters the public were not ready to let go of, Optimus Prime and Starscream.
@@christianfrost8660 There were good reasons why Optimus Prime and Starscream were brought back, but they were two different stories.
Starscream: "I will return! You need me to repaint all the dozen other seekers!"
And were still doing it except prime
Seaspray: “Alana, I know just what to do to prove to you that we transformers are alive and have souls.
Alana: “How’s that?”
Seaspray: “By turning Starscream into a ghost!”
Who you gonna' call?
Transformers!
I ain't afraid of no Starscream.
Let me tell ya' somethin'.
Busting makes me feel good! Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starscream: AAHHH!!!!!!!!!
The fact that Starscream is still that popular that he is a ghost amongst machines is awesome. And that no matter how powerful he has become as a ghost and still seeks leadership of the Deceptions just cements his legendary status in the Transformers lore. And lastly despite all of the above as Megatron said "Starscream couldn't lead androids to a picnic..."
The Unicorn Trilogy’s incarnation of Starscream is actually sad. Guy never got his well deserved rest and instead had Alpha Q resurrect him and thus disgracing his memory.
I'm looking for a dreadwing reference on agreement to what you said.
@@blueraccoon1088Our beloved warrior Seeker could of been together with Alexis, catch up with Hot shot and Jetfire. But nope, they just had to reset his character.
So yes the dreadwing reference would apply.
Hasbro be like: *THERE MUST BE SOMETHING I CAN DO! SOMETHING THAT WILL ALLEVIATE YOUR ANGUISH?!*
What's funny is during Beast Wars, Starscreams spark was just miles from his actual body as in the 3rd season they find the Ark.
I imagine he wouldn't have tried to use his body even if he found the Ark. Because he'd figure that with his spark being inside it his ghostly form would get booted out.
Nice catch!
But isn’t Starscream body in stasis lock and wouldn’t that make a time paradox I mean after all Beast Wars takes place in the past before the Great War in 1984?
@@GatorRay Could be true, but you have to think that never happened with any other decepticon he took over. Further more, if he had realized it he would have done as Predacon Megatron did to optimus and just go off Megatron while he was in stasis. Course if he really wanted to take power, he could snuff Megatrons spark, then take his body.
@@NemoThundersong a bit out there but maybe he did take over megatron's body, knowing megatron and later galvatron would outlive himself. Would explain why megatron never kills starscream despite having every reason to - if he does then he kills his past self
I do find it funny that the necessity to keep Starscream in the cartoon after dramatically killing him in the movie lead to a new aspect being added to his character lore. I always figured his spirit being used to revive Trypticon in the Machinima series was a nod to him possessing Trypticon in the "Ghost in the Machine" episode.
It would've been perfect to put starscream's cackle at the end there for spooktober
It is interesting how *Charisma* can break the rules, Chris Latta pulled off this trick twice! Starscream and Cobra Commander! Both characters were being sunset to make way for their toy successors. Only for the next season to roll around and Starscream gets an indestructible spark and Cobra Commander gets his snake mutation conveniently reverse.
Like I said: charisma , it can make people change their minds or make accepting on your case! True immortality in pop culture right there and Chris Latta was a Dark Master of the arts right there! XD
Some sparks the Well of All Sparks don't want back
I've always enjoyed the idea of Starscream's ghost being because of a random mutation affecting his spark
My theory has always been that it was the result of his exposure to the Underbase, shortly followed by the Matrix (in G2).
Kind of makes you think if Cybertronians had their own version of the X-men "X-gene"
I would like the idea that some freak accident between him and the allspark is also involved as a way to pay homage to the animated cartoon.
Strike me down and I'll be even more powerful than you ever imagine. - Starscream
Galvatron: "Bet." *proceeds to vaporize Starscream*
Starscream: *now in ghost form* "You were saying?"
Galvatron: "Well shit, I didn't see that coming."
And Starscream's ghost taken offline by Cosmicly empowered Starscream
Decepticons are temporary, but Starscream is eternal
I remember being a kid and the Starscream's Ghost episode airing, I was so happy to see my favorite Decepticon back, if only for a little while.
I prefer the idea that Starscream's spark was mutated because he got blasted by Galvatron's particle accelerator cannon who was super-powered at the time by Unicron. Thats why Maximal experiments failed.
I'm sorry, when I first saw this I thought there is no way you can do a full segment on starscream's ghost 👻 and I am glad to be wrong, you are amazing, THANK YOU for doing these videos.
this was a great episode, and a reminder of why i love starscream so much. “true to form he betrays unicron immediately.” ❤️🌎☮️
I almost don't understand why the Autobots bothered blowing Unicron back into orbit, you'd have to be off your nuts and bolts if you'd think that Starscream would actually go through with it.
@@christianfrost8660 Starscream is very set in goals...but extremely mutable in the means to attain it. Unicron's resurrection is a mean and not the final goal, if Starscream fits it convenient, he'll take the chance. Is just that Unicron gave Starscream his body back earlier, in which now the monster planet is now a liability and outlived his usefulness.
@@clownplayer7265 In theory yes but Starscream isn't stupid. In fact in almost every continuity where Unicorn has surfaced, Starscream has taken him more seriously than anyone else and be willing to park his personal ambition for the greater good and mostly for his own preservation. Besides the Primes, Starscream has consistently been the biggest problem Unicorn keeps coming across. Starscream was almost certainly planning on tricking Unicorn when the Decepticons did the leg work for him.
@@christianfrost8660 True. I do believe indeed Starscream would at the very least aknowledge Unicron is not to be trusted either. I guess he just found a convenient way to backstab him before connecting him to Cybertron rather than deal with the hassle after.
What makes Starscream dangerous is that he's so quick at adapting and take new approaches he becomes extremely unpredictable, and as such the autobots and decepticons are never really fully sure what lows will Starscream take to get what he wants. You can always tell Starscream is scheming and plotting for power, but neither his allies nor enemies always know how he's gonna do that. Megatron arguably keeps him on check only because he's one of the few things that keep Starscream with some level of consistency (Megatron, being the Decepticon leader means there's thankfully one single target to watch out for the most part.)
@@clownplayer7265 You said it that neither side is sure of Starscream's tactics but that also means that if it suits his purpose, he's not below doing the right thing. Starscream may be vulnerable to impulsive decisions but he is also incredibly intelligent, he was a former Astrologist and Geologist. I 100% believe that Starscream would know there would be no point in getting a new body for Unicron to destroy it afterwards anyway. I wonder whether Trypticon was always going to have some sort of malfunction regardless of the other Decepticons actions.
If you think about it, you don't need an explanation for why starscream became a ghost again. You explained that since he was no longer connected to his body he existed between space and time. So every appearance of his ghost could have taken place before Unicron's head restored is body.
Let us not ignore the fact that Starscream once possessed a Manga lady who must not have seemed all that upset about it when she has a figurine of her posing
It's so delightful to see how much everybody just ran with it xD
And if any of y'all haven't read the IDW Transformers and Ghostbusters crossover, DO IT! It's so good! At least read it to see Optimus covered in NYC graffiti lol.
The reason Soundwave and Starscream were still on shelves in wave 3 was because the Decepticons had so few toys. Especially popular characters.
Year*
Also popularity didn't stop chars like Ironhide and Prime from getting destroyed.
@@gabrielchee8470 it was still wave 3 too. And yeah they had a lot of Autobot cars. Pretty much every season 2 car lived, because Marvel introduced Shockwave, Insecticons, and Constructicons in the first season. Both leaders got replaced, that was obviously the edict of the movie.
@@gabrielchee8470 They were always gonna kill off Prime and Megatron they just also decided to kill off most of characters who weren't selling anymore
@@noriakikakyoin1423 Pretty obvious why Ratchet and Ironhide are going to get killed off. Their toy version sucks.
Excellent video I'm now gonna collect everything that has to do with star screams ghost
I sometimes wonder if his spark became immortal because he took a full power shot from Galvatron into the spark.
It was his first shot since he was reformatted so maybe it had an excess of power that hyper charged his spark and allowed it to live on.
He’s the only one to turn to dust
It could also be an explanation. The power from Galvatron's blast was enough to mutate Starscream's spark because of the amount of energy it contains.
I’d like to think of it as a cybertronian mutation
I dunno, that kind of implies Galvatron is a powerful but insane asshole with no self-control who would harm his own cause as much as the autobots.
Ohh...wait...
@@clownplayer7265 Galvatron is an efficient and ruthless leader at first but was driven to insanity after having a long submergence in the plasma pits of Planet Trull.
@@stephencastro4723 Good point. Then I guess it was just bad luck. At least Unicron eventually also got hit with karma for that.
It's just not a Transformers cartoon or franchise without Starscream
I always felt like the song "What's It Feel Like to Be A Ghost?" was directed at Starscream.
The ghost busters collabis the greatest thing i heard
imagine galavatron still shooting starscream gohst in the end of the g1 starscream ghost episode to this day ?
Galvatron got killed by an Autobot friendship Circle and Starscream is still laughing at him to this day.
This is definitely a perfect choice for this Halloween yes
This just proves that you can't keep a good spark down!!
I like how the Super 7 figure is so transparent, you can see through the arm to the wing behind... you can see through part of a ghost to the rest of the same ghost... weird! 😂
Must be _real_ fragile, though.
I think that was just a computer render and they wanted it to show immediately upon first looking that the figure was going to be transparent. Technically any transparent starscream toy you should be able to see the wings behind the arm, its just more noticeable in a computer rendering
It's not quite so transparent. Go watch emgo316's review of the figure.
I was thinking it's kind of weird how we can see one part of a ghost through another part of his own body, like supernatural photoshop layers! 🤔
So, does this mean Starscream can never join the Allspark if he's spark can't be extinguished?
Yup however he could guide the other sparks to it
As much as I liked Animated’s homage, I feel they missed the opportunity to expand further. They could have made it so there were two Starscreams, one a ghost resulting from an indestructible spark, the other a sparkless body brought to life by the Allspark shard.
Starscream is a ghost. Optimus Prime was a zombie. Mindwipe is a vampire. Autobot Spike was a Frankenstein 's Monster. WeirdWolf is weird.
Let's say that both Optimus Prime and Starscream were temporarily dead. They were brought back to life shortly after.
I love how one of Starscream's possession is an Angel from the EVA anime.
Where?
Fun fact: the longest time that starscream has tried to take control of the decepticons in g1 was the 86 movie before he’d was burnt to a crisp
I’m surprised that Transmetal 2 Waspinator wasn’t mentioned, since he was also possessed by Screamer. He even killed that universe’s Primal and became Leader of the Beast Machines Maximals.
That universe also has a Rodimus Primal
Givin' that we haven't seen hide or wing of Starscream in any footage of the new show Earth spark, maybe his ghost will be in it.
"Oh no! That robot is a ghost!"
-Soldier Tf2
STARSCREAM and his ETERNAL SPARK, are of great significance in my personal MYTHOS…
Starscream was the only OG toy I really wanted but was never able to get
Same!
He was pretty hard to find.
4:04 "Hasta la Vista Starscream."
Starscream's ghost is probably his Spark being unable to return to the AllSpark -- oh wait, the AllSpark didn't exist in G1 yet
You should have kept the scary music of the intro on for the entire video.
Regarding how Starscream became a ghost in the cartoon I like the idea of the energy from Galvatron's fusion cannon mixed in Unicron's energy from the reformatting which resulted in mutating his spark
I like to think that from Starscream’s perspective, Possession happened before Starscream’s Ghost.
3:18 The end of the last episode Starscream appeared in clearly shows him being shot at (2:49) and he ends up smoking. It's a fair bet he got offlined then and there.
Ah, the late Chris Latta, Cobra Comander, Starscream, and his ghost.
starscream also possesed humans too ?? jeez man, wonder if cobra commander was starscream all along lol XD
My favorite animated character.
This is the most complete coverage of this topic I have ever seen. 10/10 you rocked it.
If Starscream were… 22.5% more competent, then his ghost form would quickly make him the most dangerous thing in the galaxy.
The idea of Starscream coming back from death is one of my favorite repeating bits of lore in Transformers, my personal favorite takes being Beast Wars, because I like the explanation they gave and how it tied into Rampage's backstory, Animated, because I love the character and like the spin on him repeatedly coming back from the dead, and then IDW, where it's a brief role reversal for Bumblebee and Starscream that's able to give him some proper closing words (if that really was his ghost, though).
Huh, and here I thought only Jedi could get more powerful upon death! This guys body swapping, flipping off Unicron and jumping into other TF series! That's quite the feat for the ghost of Cobra Commander!
I had a headcanon where after Possession, Starscream's Spark somehow traveled into the Unicron Trilogy universe and permanently bonds with his counterpart (this happens between Energon and Cybertron) hence why the Unicron Trilogy Starscream was acting like, and resembled the G1 version in Cybertron. And given that Starscream was never killed, and had god-like abilities, his possible return would make a great story.
It's that means this will effect on his shattered glass counterpart
Or or or Cybertron was never originally intended to be connected to the other two Hasbro just did it in the American markets
I prefer the headcanon. Adds more lore.
Also, since he knows he'll keep existing even if he suddenly dies, it results in Cybertron Starscream lacking his grovels and pleas because he knows death is not gonna cease his existence anymore.
Yo, is he possessing an Angel at 5:32? Damn!
Really enjoyed watching the video and I guess it’s true “Even in Death they always come back to hunt you”
5:33 is that Sachiel? Did Starscream possess an Angel from NGE?
3:43 and that transformer beast wars episode made waspinator a fan favorite!
Did screamer even know he had a mutant spark lol
Screamer survived numerous beat downs, defeats, led mutinies and processed the underbase, processed the matrix and died and came back.
Screamers ghost could have pocessed a generic seeker and could have gotten a paint job and lived and changed bodies whenever he felt like it
Screamers got a new body in idw every issue
There was a Starscream Ghost released in the Cyberverse Seeker 4 pack target exclusive.
After more than 30 years, I still enjoy seeing Galvatron turn into that quantum plasma cannon (or whatever sci-fi tech it was), and dusting G1 Starscream. 😀
😠 not so much as I enjoy seeing the result:
Galvatron: Starscream, you are a dead mechanism!
Starscream: Of course I'm dead, but not for much longer and then are you going to be sorry.
Galvatron: I'm already sorry!
I seem to remember his ghost in the"transformers:armada" comic, too.
Say, I like this episode take on the Transformers basics Chris. My favorite cartoon when Starscream is a ghost is on my favorite Transformers Beast Wars episode where he possesses the unfortunate Waspinator. I consider this the best episode of Transformers The Basics as well as a Halloween-themed one, so keep them coming. 👍👍👍

Starscream's spark is still floating around in deep space.

BEAST WARS "Starscream possesses Waspinator"

The whole Starscream's ghost concept is a pretty funny one, but I had no idea that the concept was continued after the 80's cartoon.
This is a really cool video. He explained something I knew nothing about, and now I have a basic understanding.
They had already planned on bringing him back in the movie or left themselves an out. If you watch the movie pause it when Galvatron destroys him. You can clearly see his ghost leaving his body. When all the other characters die, they turn grey.
Ha! I’ve literally just unpacked mp52 ghost Starscream, sat down to RUclips and this popped up!!! Scary!!!
In the Ghostbusters xover, Starscream tried to butter up Peter Venkman to achieve his goals. Venkman told him that, as a fellow con artist, he could see through his attempts, and that his training in psychiatry told him everything else. Lorenzo Music vs. Charlie Latta - pure 80's goodness!
To think Starscream can go from cosmically empowered to ghost. It's kind of amazing when you think about it.
"I live, I die, I live again!" Starscream probably
Another fun ride, Chris! Thanks for that. You make these things special. ✌🏾🙌🏾👍🏾
Man, the IDW Transformers/Ghostbusters crossover was soooooo good, especially the ongoing snark duel between Starscream's Ghost and Dr Peter Venkman - and I quote:
Starscream: "...You will taste my wrath yet, Pete Venkman...!"
Peter: "Does it taste like orange sherbet? That's my favourite..."
I'm honestly surprised, ESPECIALLY when IDW was banking like CRAZY on crossovers,
We didn't get a Transformers/TMNT Crossover.
a Party Wagon Transformer is just a piece of fan-art you've atleast seen once in your life, and I'm surprised they didn't make it a reality when they had both franchises in hand.
@@Da_ComputerMonster Agreed - especially since the two TMNT/Ghostbusters crossovers had already laid much of the potential groundwork - then again, I'm still annoyed that the planned JLA/Transformers crossover got kiboshed by the New 52 way back when, yes...?!
I love the Starscream's Ghost episodes of G1. He's my favorite Transformer from G1 and these episodes were one of my favs, this and when Optimus returns.
I always imagined that seekers had their own powers
Starscream: ghost invisibly
Skywarp: teleportation
Thundercracker: electric manipulation
Acid storm: acid
Bitstream: electronic interface
Blackout: shadow manipulation
Blast: missiles
Dirge: telekinesis
Thrust: speed abilities
Ramjet: body hardening
Hotlink: fire
Ion storm: EMP powers
And the rest is up to your imagination I guess…
I thought that all the g1 transformers having powers was canon? Starscream's was being able to fly in space (and FTL travel I think)
@@JimmyHelp yeah I guess…. I was referring to the idea that some cybertronians have special abilities.
I'm shocked they didn't use Starscream's Ghost again in the second season of Beast Machines. Maybe have him possess the Vehicon General husk that once held Silverbolt's spark to mess with him & Blackarachnia. Maybe leading to them sealing the phantom spark away for good.
According to Ask Vector Prime, there was an alternate timeline where Starscream’s ghost never got booted out of Waspinator, and he defeated the Maximals. Then he captured Megatron and returned to Cybertron, only for Megs to escape, and then wound up taking Primals place for the events of Beast Machines.
You should have mention briefly in this episode that it wasnt only STARSCREAM that coming back to life. i e. OPTIMUS P.
This idea is crazy, and I would definitely be scared if I saw him like that.
Also, I like how you were able to reference the crossover with Evangalion
I liked how transmetal Waspinator had a jet mode, like there was contamination from Starscreams possession
I like to imagine that, in g1, Starscream came back as a ghost because he died without overthrowing Megatron (or technically Galvatron).
I love this concept of Starscreem since Beast Wars, one of the few things I wish TFP find a way of reference or recreated but didn't happened.
5:32 Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you that is Starscream possessing Sachiel the 4th Angel from Evangelion.
I'm grateful and excited that I have 3 Starscream figures, 2 from Authentics and 1 from Cyber Battalion. Now I have noodle with the concept of Starscream upgrading after death and/or becoming a Energon Spirit
