Great list Michael ! One more item I would add as essential is a stylus brush. It helps to knock off the little bits that inevitably collect on the tiny pointy end.
Always ensure that the inner and outer sleeves do not have any PVC content and also remove the shrink wrap. PVC in the sleeves and shrink can cause a horrible misting/clouding on the record which is super hard to remove, and the shrink wrap can keep shrinking once it's opened, causing the record to possibly warp. For inner and outer sleeves, I recommend HDPE (high density polyethelene0 or polypropylene sleeves.
Good video. I would agree with Most of what you say. I would recommend that when using a record cleaning brush that you don't switch the turntable on, but rotate the brush by hand. That way you don't put strain on the motor and risk stretching the drive belt.
Essential. Nice vid again Michael, super useful and well picked. The stylist guard is so important, especially as one gets into the high price points. Granted I did check out on the phone stages as my choices are super limited due to my cart.
ESSENTIAL is right. I agree on all of you points! I have an old Panasonic table from the 90s and my cartridge options are limited but I did find a better cartridge than the stock. I also researched the stylus and found a better model. For cleaning my records I use two Spin Cleans. One is for washing and the other is for rinsing. I also use a record clamp so the stylus rides in the groove correctly. Sometimes I've noticed a better quality sound but only for bowed or wavy records. I use it for all records just so I know the record is fully flat and and has the full power of the motor behind it. I also use a Zerostat tool. I don't use it often (mostly winter) but sometimes I just can't get the static away from the record. I think part of the issue is the type of vinyl the record is made from. One extra thing I've done with my setup is putting my floor speakers onto speaker stools I had made. These things are great because the sound isn't absorbed by the floor anymore and, to my ear, less muffled.
This is essential, brotha. Good info. I've got the pro-ject carbon debut Evo myself and am looking to upgrade my cartridge. going to looking into those that you recommended
Essential this was a great video. One thing that cleaning your will do is extend the lifespan of your stylus. I guess a good unintended consequence of playing clean records. Cheers

Great point-always a good idea to keep the stylus as clean as possible.

That’s really cool to read-I love how detailed oriented you are about your records and listening experience.
Essentially, love it
Thanks for watching!
Great list. Love that you call out a stylus cover. I always use the ones with my Ortofon Concorde II.
Essential, nice job Michael.
👍🏾 Thanks for watching

You’re mentioning some valid points about daily life, stuff happens
I usely keep my record covers in the plastic unless the cover opens up .
Essential
Great video! Would you consider a stylus guage to be an essential accessory?
I think it can be. But if you’re buying a new cartridge, they usually come with instructions that suggest the recommended tracking force.
Essential. Stay away from PVC outer sleeves because of the outgassing issues.
