Yes, it's karaoke. The vocals are so quiet you won't hear them when you are singing. But if you get off key and need some help you can stop singing and get back on track with the vocals. In real karaoke there would be a function to turn the vocals on and off, but since RUclips doesn't support that this is the next best thing.
