@@LoyMachedo the one i agree with the most is that when both parents are working, they don't have quality time with their children to influence their development. After a certain age, however, the child's personality becomes an amalgamation of all the influences pressed on its mind, from religion, social media, school, peers and extended family. Child picks and chooses on its own , sometimes regardless of what parents teach
Respected Sir, This topic is no less than the depth and breadth of any ocean because it encompasses half of our way of life. I completely agree with your thoughts and the points which you have raised for our fragile and toxic society. These points are like one raindrop that collectively form the compound of rain, which will bringing reform and improvement to your viewers. As a Pakistani, I highly appreciate the effort you put into creating the video, the content it contains, your research, and your honest analysis. It is indeed a praiseworthy and commendable effort. Watched the whole video Thank you for bringing this to light. My background is indian but grew up in canada.I remember When I was a teenager My older brother, who's dealing with addiction and depression Broke down to my dad that he needed help He said "I need therapy" And my dad completely denied him that help. He said just focus on the books and go exercise. Now over ten years later my brother Is completely worse and I don't think he'll make it, not even I can help him. Also, the trauma that we bought how to deal with it, going up in india and u.a.e in the 90's. I'll tell you Those Arab kids are not so friendly. When you're an Indian Catholic foreigner In their country. This is relevant too, because most of the time parents think that you had a very happy childhood when you asked them, but in fact it was a complete opposite..
Watched your entire video. I bumped into your channel where you were interviewing that Indian international student who made a video in Canada how to get free food from food banks. Im a software engineer, born and raised in India and OCI holder now based in Canada for last 5 years and before that was an international student in US where I went for my MS. Great video Loy similar to other videos. I think you covered solid points. Luckily I feel my parents are quite different and do fall in the exception category in a positive sense but yes regarding role models what you mention is very true. Im happily married for last 5 years to my Vietnamese wife whom I met during my time in US. There's quite a story there
Good points. Now none of these points matter to me, I have disowned my family, will probably marry someone non-indian. Your content is good. Keep doing good work.
As someone who is Indian but mixed heritage, i find that the challenge of Indian parenting is that in classical Indian society, parents never reared children. Whether it's the Gupta era or the Mauriyan era, it was the Gurukula that raised children from 5-28 age in a boarding school setting. Then Al Habibis came over and the Imperial Hindustan Army conscription office took over that role. Only after we got colonized by British do we have this whole nuclear concept where family brings up child versus an institution. This nuclear family nonsense and this whole individualistic concept of family without Institutional participation is something completely alien to us. In Vedic eras, the Gurukula was our bade baap. In Imperial eras, the conscription office saw you through from boy to man. In modern era, no such institutions exist and India ain't a nuclear culture. We are an exogamous clan.
Its not parents fault is society's fault i have heard many stories of old generation were under pressure to get married and have kids and they where not aware of situation they are getting into most of them simply had kids without thinking and even their sex life was terrible especially my grand mother suffer a lot .
So, a 40-year-old grown ass does not know if he should hit/punch a 10-15-year-old kid or not and should not be held accountable for that, a 15-year-old should have all the sympathy and knowledge in the world to empathize with these grown-up toxic/abusive individuals but these assholes should not be held accountable for their actions
Parents can go blue in the face to teach morals to their children, if society doesn't back up the parents teachings with affirmative actions and circumstances, the children will call their parents liars
Loy, I have been watching your content for 3 months now and yesterday, I found out why the ordinary people don't like to listen to you. Yesterday, I tried to show someone your video and they couldn't stand to watch you for even a couple of minutes. All because of your tattoos. I felt really disheartened as majority of the people values looks over hearing someone out.
@PrayashMajumdar - I'm absolutely glad they didn't watch my videos! I prefer not to be popular among superficial people who love to judge others based solely on an individual's appearance. It's a toxic environment I left years ago, and today I enjoy the company of people who 1) Don’t care about how I look, and 2) Have the respect and decency to pay me for my time per hour. So don’t bother, and don’t be disheartened by freeloaders. I encourage them to surround themselves with their own kind. LM
@BarrieMcKokiner7229 - I can imagine them being gifted an audio self-improvement tape, but they insist on first knowing how the presenter or expert looks physically. They need to confirm that the presenter matches their preferences before listening to the tape.
Loy, nice to hear and see you again. In short, I can summarise in one sentence: "Indian parents always feel that they have to prove a point regarding their children." Tell me if im wrong.
well i watched the whole thing names Boleslaw, but anyway, same thing can be said about polish parents its 100% the same in general India is the Poland of Asia lol :D
I once saw an indian mom feeding her 32+ year son with her hands...reason I think well first because he' was a 'son' (with the hope he will look after her for the rest of her life) and second because he earns. Dont know what kind of love or parenting that was but it will surely make that 32 year old baby the worst father or husband their ever was.
i don't hate my parents but sometimes they do compare me and keep annoying me with "grow up" speeches for anything silly i do unknowingly and it becomes annoying eventually....
watched it full length. I come from the same coast of Karnataka as you. Resonated a lot with what you had to say. Over emotional validation hungry mother, absent father. Although I love them and understand where they were coming from, I can't imagine how a parent can put societal validation over a child's interest. I'm 36 and have lied most of my youth and they never got to see my true personality. My mother had me guilt trapped all this while and I only got to see this because my wife could see how I behave in front of my family. Since she comes from a different culture, she could see more clearly from the outside. Doing way better and although those guilt traps are laid all around, I've learnt to diplomatically avoid them.

Is it common for Indian parents to baby their sons too much? It seems like it to me, but I am not Indian so I figured I would ask.
Yes
Yes indian culture is terrible. Favors boys over girls

❤😊GOOD DAY LOY.
These traits are generally red flags of terrible parenting (for any household) but not exclusively to a culture.
unfortunately for south Asians 90% of people are like this
I blame indian culture for all the problems. It's a terrible culture. You really notice is when u r born in the West
