Very true. Isn’t it interesting that Yeshua says He did not come to abolish the law but to “fulfill”the law. Then He goes right to work changing the law. Thou shalt not murder becomes don’t even be angry and so on throughout the sermon on the mount. It seems clear Yeshua didnt change the base meaning but He sure went about “perfecting” it. As you say the Sermon is The Father’s words as commanded through Yeshua. Yeshua says be perfect like your Father in Heaven. Puts lie to the OT depiction of The Father as a vengeful God. Never made any sense that God acted with vengeance. Revenge is an ego filled emotion. Pretty obvious God doesn’t get angry or need anger. The OT is wrought with mans best interpretation of events while ascribing his own motivations to God.
The sermon on the mount is the loving instructions from the father, delivered to us by His son.
