    In a hypothetical scenario of running this on air.. And this scenario is not in an effort to be practical or to to be cost effective, just to understand the dynamics, could you increase the power by supplying both pressurized air to the input as well as vacuum to the output?

  • @johng.3740

    Very useful, connect the output shaft of the steam engine to a generator or alternator and you have a generator that can operate on almost anything that burns or solar power (using a parabolic solar concentrator to boil water to steam)

      @@johng.3740 As far as used items I agree. However the Predator engines in the vids are about $120 new at Harbor Freight, and the turbos in the vids were about $130 on Amazon. So, if you go with new it's about the same.

    • @gwseymour

      Thanks! Hp varies with steam pressure....so that's hard to answer. I'd guess that 70 - 100 psi would be around 2 hp. I prefer water tube type boilers for safety reasons.

    1- Is the steam engine 2 or 4 stroke? 2- Have you made any changes to the camshaft, also called valve timing? 2.1 Didn't you make any changes to the engine and just inject steam? 3- What is the pressure value in bars that makes the steam engine work?

    • @gwseymour
      @gwseymour 3 года назад +1

      How big is your boiler? You might not have sufficient pressure for any one cylinder, as a little pressure escapes from the other 3 during the upstroke. It depends on the fringing order. If you watch the very beginning on the "Steam Engine Run Up'' video, you'll see what I mean. With a big flywheel, and a good starting spin, it might work. Personally I would try it, but it's a risk.
