My brother, who at age 72, has multiple myeloma, his very first symptom was severe lower back pain. He's now in a clinical trial for stem cell transplantation. Please pray for Jim!
When a person is in so much pain that they would rather die, it's obvious that the medical community has failed us. I am allowed 4 oxycodone 15 mg a day. That's not enough! I have to go to the streets to find what I can. It's not fair! I am hurting so bad right now and looking at this bottle, I want and need to take two more right now. There's not enough to make it to the end of the month. That is so stressful! I'm so tired of this that I have gave up and I just want to die. I think I have enough to end this now. I have often daydreamed about taking the whole bottle and waiting for that moment when the pain goes away. I would cherish that moment before my eyes closed for the last time. It doesn't have to be that way but I cannot force a doctor or the medical community to do anything about it.
RN for 42 years. Many years in pain management for hospice patients. We would never leave a patient in pain. As long as doses are titratedup gradually to get above the pain, it is safe. There was no limit known how much Morphine could be given, as long as it was titrated up carefully. The doctors are so controlled by big government now they answer to the government before the patient. Few years ago, the government tried to blame the opium epidemic on prescribed meds, thereafter every pt needing pain meds was considered a potential addict or drug dealer. Also addiction is a psychological need, where dependency is a physical need. Prayers for all the unnecessary suffering now.
Doctors are so stingy with pain medication. I'm in so much pain right now I want to die! Sorry to say that but this experience has broke me. The medical community has failed us in this matter.
@@mcgyvernewone2014 No need to apologize. I am ready myself, just from all the shit he has been through for the last 3 years. Being a care giver is hard.
@@Beautyhuntress78that sucks at such a young age. I believe that myeloma is environmental. Were you around pesticides, chemicals etc? I got sick young too....all types of problems misdiagnosed for 10 to 15 years before developing life threatening Sepsis where I was told that I have it.... Not much fun.

The Doctors don’t want to give him enough opioids to help the pain.
Doctor needs to give something for the pain. Is your husband got anything for pain an comtable.
8 mg of Dilaudid & 5 mg of Methadone every 8 hours.

He never had Shingles.
Gabapetin is horrible.
how do you mean?
Why do you feel Gabapentin is horrible?
Because it took both my husband and I on some trips we never wanted to go on. Talk about hallucinations.
My husband was put on this when he had shingles.
He was a zombie. Could barely sit up to eat.
Was on gabapentin (neurontin) for epilepsy, and it caused suicidal ideation. Got right off of it.
Treatment sounds worse than the cancer itself...
That's why I've turned chem etc.
