This was and still is the best expansion I've ever played and I miss it all the time. I'm looking forward to the cataclysm classic server. For those of you who will be coming back to this guide and experiencing this awesome raid I wish you the best of luck.
Good guide. I see someone already clarified how Bane of Doom works. I just wanted to give you some info for min/maxers. Do not refresh Bane of Agony early. It increases damage each dot tick and if you refresh it early you will always miss out on the hardest hitting tick. Let it fall off and immediately reapply it.
Holy shit the nostalgia is saddening. The best times of my life were spent during this expansion and knowing i'll never get to relive them in the same circumstances is very depressing.
PREACHER MAN! You heard my out cry for Affliction! Just a little note on BoD, initial cast will bring it to 1 minute. However, when you refresh it anytime it's up it will calculate the time from the next tick and add it on to the refreshed minute. Meaning if you refresh BoD with 13 seconds left, the new BoD will have a timer of 1 minute 13 seconds.
amazing tips, easily increase my dps by 75% in just a few minutes and that is without any practice. After a couple of days following these methods I've easily double my output of dps and have also more importantly increased my understanding and comfort in using and controlling this class.

In fact quite lot of ppl are, though im not pushing it to its limits myself, I highly enjoy the game itself, Cata isn't exactly my favourite expansion, since im not a very social type, chatting and running the world in it is quite exciting and often brings a heavy laugh or simply a smile to my face, not counting the first years when i used to be addicted to this game

Few tips from me, guys. If you have a UI similar to Preach's where you can see your Focus's DoTs (mine is like this), then you can go into Interface-->Combat and change cast of Focus key to Alt or something. That way, you don't have to target your focus. This is great on Madness of Deathwing. I stand in a position so I am facing both targets, and if UA is about to run out on the claw (focus), I just press Alt and my UA key. I start with BoA on claw, Soul Swap (glyph) to tentacle, then BoD claw.
well said. Wise words "perfect with practice" as complex as warlocks are to a newbie, mastering them after months of practice and research they make every bit worth the effort, not to mention one, if not "the" most fun class. >.

@bhpism wow epic question with no real answer haha. No class is 'easy' when you are pushing it to its max. Regardless of what the average forum/youtube commenter will tell you about 'LOL WOW IS EASY', it isn't or everyone would be rolling the hardmode content. I will say warlock and moonkin have a lot to manage and perfect with practice. Tank wise, paladins have a lot to manage but carry a pretty simple basic playstyle. In most cases it comes down to being able to manage your environment better.
I have been playing with an affliction warlock for a month now and this guide saved my life as it said everything I needed to know. Just one question, which warlock spec do you think is the best? I am really happy with affliction, but people are telling me that Demo is the best.
It's Bane of Agony which you should never clip. As the duration of Bane of Agony increases, the more damage the ticks deal to your target. So you don't want to replace the most potent tick of your dot, the last one! All other DoTs are fine to clip, just wait for Bane of Agony to fall off.
Hello Preach, thanks for great videos that actually made me start playing wow.I know it's a Warlock video but i got a question, my main is Prot Warrior but after a few months i'm thinking of rolling another tank class and range dps. What classes can you recommend, i'm looking for something complex and fun to play in other words i don't want easy mode. What class you actually tank or dps ? what gives you the most fun ?
In order for your drain soul to refresh your ui, you need to use your drain soul when your target is at or below 25%. This is the only time you should use your drain soul
Hey Preacher, I'm an affliction lock and I've always been opening with CoE following into the rotation you provided in the video. Am I losing dps? Is there a better time I can be casting CoE? I've also been playing a lock fr years now, and still found tons of new things in your video to help me out. So thanks man for this absolutely ingenious video.
Preacher, you said we need to refresh our dot´s as soon as we pop our trinkets/ Demon Soul, what about at the end? Let´s say there is 5 secs left on Demon Soul, is it worth re-applying our dots or is it a DPS loss?
@OMFGcataFAN1 somewhere in the region of 20k on the raiding dummy. My Hunter, Harpoon @ Aerie Peak (EU) has 372 iLevel and I do 18.5 - 21k DPS sustained.
so Shadow Bolt, Instant Soulfire, Pop Everything, DS, Dots, Shadow Bolts. Dots? Also, since you said it takes a snapshot of your stats, if you have Will of Unbinding, is it best to refresh your DOTS when you have 10 stacks? Because every time you cast a spell you get an int boost.
@SnowieeTV well i for one havent found a good stable farming method for gold, alot of crappy suggestions u get is way to time consuming for the amount of gold or its completely random

i watch your vids whilst waiting for my que to pop today on the aff warlock oddly enough it is my new main heading into pandaria too lol stupid question though i tried the soul swap thing you do in the vid and seems to work out well how do i know about the dots on the swapped target ?

whoever said affliction is garbage needs to Roll a diffrent class ive played affliction since Vanilla and ive always came in 4th place in dps or better
I was thinking of leveling a lock...But i dont like demonology cuz i like when I do the damage, not my pet. Destruction is just a fire mage that does less damage. And affliction seems like a lot of fucking work.

Fel flame is useless. Currently the GCDs you would waste on casting fel flame are a dps loss when compared to just recasting the spell when unstable affliction is about to fall off.
This guide is to confusing if I could keep up with you I would know how to do a proper rotation anyways it's mostly because your talking so fast you sound like an auctioneer at an auction. Maybe this guide is for people who are already experienced with warlocks but defiantly not noob friendly at all .

also the t13 4p bonus is nice its 10-15 sec(cant remember which one it is) of free spellpower nice buff to add onto the Doomguard

madness and yorsaj are the only fights where affliction is clutch

I miss WoW... my first char when I started at TBC launch was a lock. The Old Republic isn't doing it for me.

You could just go to Ghost's house to upload and edit and do work if you needed to

On Alliance Worgen for crit and gnome for intellect. On Horde any are fine.

I know it's late, but for future reference, it is NOT worth refreshing dot's with procs. You will waste too much time and will lose DPS.
