Yeah all the practical effects in this mv are so good, especially the JK scene with the floor collapsing. There's a behind the scenes of this MV that shows everything.
We often hear songs in which one person realizes that the other person only pretended to love them. But here, BTS brings a different approach, it's about realizing that you have canceled yourself out because you love the other person too much, trying hard not to show weaknesses, failures or make mistakes so as not to disappoint the other person, which turns this love into falsehood. or an illusion. The artistic details and symbolism used by BTS are incredible. From the various elements (sculpture behind them, mirror, telephone, fire, chocolate, water, sand, mask) to the choreography (where they pretend to be puppets or make blind, deaf and mute gestures), everything they do is art. This song draws our attention to the importance that authenticity and self-love have for a healthy relationship, alerts us to the dangers of losing ourselves in a process based on falsehood and leads us to reflect that it is not worth sacrificing who we really are to please someone because it will lead to disappointment and pain. 💜
Yes, pretty much everything like the floor dropping behind jungkook, the water, the snickers, even the FIRE were all practical effects. Yoongi isnt like... INCHES from the fire, and some of the edges are expanded a bit with an overlay (i believe like you said filmed without him in there), but its a big wall of fire in the room with him, just using perspective to trick you. They have the behind the scenes and its so crazy. Without a doubt one of the best MVs ever in kpop. Utterly stunning. Also so many lines stick with me in this: "I wish love was as perfect as love itself" "I craft a beautiful lie for you...I try to become your doll by erasing myself" "I grew a flower that can't bloom in a dream that can't come true.".... damn. The lyrics also fit into their grander theme for this part of the Love Yourself series, which obviously the whole point being that if you don't first love yourself you can't go out and give love (real love that is unselfish and unyielding) to others. whereas here they're erasing themselves for the purpose of this "fake love" relationship. Its lyrics and messages like this that are the reason they attracted so many fans including myself. i think their music spoke to a lot of people in very dark places in their lives at just the right time. With a very positive, ultimately helpful message.
Fake love is one of my fav songs and mv's from bts, I think in this case it has like a chorus and then the post chorus which is the fake love part, and yes the intro is amazing, the choreo too, man this song its long too WHICH I LOVE, I NEED LONGER SONGS, 2 AND HALF MIN ITS NOT ENOUGH Loving every time you check out bts💜💜💜💜so excited for the future reactions 🥺🥺
Oohh you're checking out episode 41 I'm excited for that! Also excited to see you check out Jin's new solo work, he actually has a duet with Wendy on his album I think that ended up being my favorite but i think you'll really enjoy the title track running wild, he sang it on Lee Mujin Service and sounded so good
this was the era right after love yourself: her which had DNA as the title track: well-known for being hypersaturated and bright (theme of the album was loving someone else, romantic love) so i remember when this dropped with love yourself: tear, i was also in love with the faded watercolor set in this MV. this era was about the dark-side of love, how you can lose yourself trying to please someone else or be what you think they want - hence the empty, faded, darker scenes. a lot of the solo sets mirror imagery from an even older era (HYYH, mv's being Run and I Need U) but more dramatized. j-hope's scene with the candy, i think, reflects that his character's struggle from HYYH era was someone who overdosed/ was dependent on pills ... feel free to correct me! but yeah, in this MV he's locked in a room with temptations (here being candy bars) and the room fills with them. definitely a lil funny at face value though! this was my first comeback as a full army :) what a time!
Yeah in fake love they're all kind of trapped in rooms representing their character's traumas from the bangtan universe storyline -- except for jungkook who seems to be aware and trying to reach them. spoilers below for the chocolate bar connection to the story.... ... the chocolate bars spilling into the room is reminiscent of the pills spilling into the room in his wings short film, so definitely connected. But besides the pills, hobi's character's mother gave him a chocolate bar and then abandoned him at an amusement park as a child. hence the dismantled carousel in the room with him.
I cant wait for this I love seeing you check out more BTS! I still randomly go and rewatch your reactions to them on Patreon LOL, the jin epiphany one especially, and the truth untold too
Love this song due to the meaning as well as the artistry of the mv. Have been there it's more than a simple breakup, it is recognizing abuse and getting away. The Snickers, btw, symbolize abandonment. BU storyline (fictional): J-hope character was abandoned by his mother as a child in an amusement park, and she gave him a candybar before leaving.
Why don't you react to Jimin's MVs? - *WHO* from July 2024 - *SGMB* feat. Loco from June 2024 - *Like Crazy & Set Me Free Pt. 2* both from March 2023 !!
i honestly miss this era of bts, and kpop in general. great times. not to say there isn't greatness now, but... it's _different_ Loved seeing you react to this!

I love jinsVersion with taka the japanese version
The floor falling was real as well they show how they did it in their behind the scenes sketch video on how this was done.
All of these shots were real and practical as well from the water to the fire all real. There is a video pn how this video was made and its all real.
You made me find this again.
