I got a 1987 RM80 brand new on Christmas Day, it was behind the curtain and i had opened my presents from underthe tree, then Pater said to open the curtains and there sitting inthe Conservatory was a spotless RM80, learned how to use that powerband, very Low to Mid range, loved it.
Yamahas had more midrange, Zukis had it all up top. If you could keep them on the pipe, they flew. If you were a Novice or beginner, you were prob. faster on the YZ.
I had an 89 rm 80 and these guys use to laugh at me behind my back because they had 125s mine had no badges just the yellow farings so I putted around on it and sandbagged a couple runs until one of them said you wanna race? So I told him to make it interesting and he started whispering to his buds so he says how about for 100 bucks I pretended to act unsure and eventually said ok well I ended up with enough money to get new badges and they never laughed at me again lol....the rm 80 was the most underrated bike ever made in my opinion lol 👍🏽✌🏽

Whoa, she's biting at the bit, the RM 125's were struggling in the 80's, but from 1987 forward it was the RM 80 and CR 80 that were on top, although the CR had a more pro racing style powerband, while the RM had more punch on the bottom to midrange, which made it appeal to a wider range of riders.
WOW! Same here man Im also rebuilding a 1994 Suzuki RM80 with my grandpa and it really likes to wheelie on you :) You are gonna have a blast on that bike!
@@LuisDiaz-kg1fy This is "whittle BW" thanks and you too! But has the cylinder been enlarged? I'm having the one on mine widened to 90cc, if you did too, did you make any other changes to make it go like this?😍
@@mad_machines Yes, mine also mounts the 28 carburettor, maybe it would be, as you say, great to find a good exhaust and a reed valve. Did you also change the crankshaft?
And what was weird is I thought I was going to have trouble once I put the reeds in cuz it was saying that I had to do something with the screw and the main pilot jet but I just went ahead and f****** did it and that night I want to go ride it and it was juicing nice so I just left it alone and it has been no problem since but I bet if I knew what I was doing I probably could get an extra little more power out of it probably huh if I knew how to do the main jet and all that stuff
