hi Paul, I also own a (TR)usdx and I love it. It's small and compact. I'm currently making an Endfed antenna for the 10-20 and 40 mtr band. And hope to make nice qso's on hiking tours. Fits in my backpack Ron, pd3ron
Eh..the speaker was not even planed for this radio. They just added it as a "well...there's a bit of room in there...might aswell strap this little speaker on it...couldn't hurt..."
Very nice video. Two questions, loved the radio pack and would like to know it it’s available on amazon? Secondly, for your battery, did you have to make your cable with the Anderson connectors or are those available on amazon? Thanks in advance 73 de Roger W8RLP
Hello. The bag I got on Amazon for $15.00: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09XB27Z9Q; the battery comes with a plug with an open end ready to be put into a PowerPole or just alligator clipped to leads: www.amazon.com/dp/B01337QXMA
Sorry, it took me so long to respond. The antenna I am using is the M1ECC Slidewinder which can be purchased here: www.m1ecc-antennas.co.uk/. The tripod and legs are from Wolf River Coil: www.wolfrivercoils.com/order.html. And the bag comes from BH Photo (but is looks like its no longer available): www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1295300-REG/pakpod_019962654435_tripod_bag_with_accessory.html
The speaker is a known issue, the designers Guido and Manuel advised external speaker or headphones from the begining.

Awesome Ron. It is a remarkable little radio. I look forward to using it more. Let us know how it works for you when you go out portable.

I'm like an HR from there.

I can't seem to find the antenna that you are using. Pakpod? You mentioned Amazon, but I don't see it. Can you send a link?

Did you not connect the window screen to your antenna mount? I didn't see any connection other than proximity.
Don't need to, the metal tripod provides adequate connection. This is the same way that KB9VBR now deploys it as well.
Yeah, I didn't connect it with a wire. I should have tested it with and without, but I was following KB9VBR's example.
Would a Mylar blanket work for a ground plane?
I really don't know, but I think KB9VBR has used one to good effect. They certainly pack better than the screens which are really good for SOTA.

I'll look it up further.
But, Roger that on the packing light thing.
That is what brought it to mind. And it is common carry on the trail, so.
