TRANSFER OF ISIOLO COUNTY HEADQUARTERS TO ISIOLO COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Inter governmental Relations Technical Committee (IGTRC) oversees the transfer of the stalled County headquarter to Isiolo County Government
The County Government of Isiolo received the administrative handover of the Isiolo County Headquarters, which is currently at 50% complete, from the National State Department for Public Works. The ceremony was held at the Isiolo County Governor’s Office,
Members of the Intergovernmental Relation Technical Committee (IGRTC), led by Dr. Perminus Nyaga Nderitu over saw the handing over ceremony.

The IGRTC, mandated to coordinate the transfer of functions from the national government to county governments, ensures that assets such as physical infrastructure, including headquarters, are transferred to improve efficiency and service delivery.
During the ceremony, Mr. Nyaga highlighted the importance of devolution, stating, “Devolution is working even in Isiolo County.” He emphasized the significance of completing the headquarters on time to save costs incurred from renting offices, ultimately enhancing efficiency and service delivery. He affirmed the continued co-funding arrangement, with the county government contributing 30% of the budget and the national government 70%.
Mr. Yussuf Dahir, the Isiolo County Executive Committee member for Roads, Land, and Physical Planning, confirmed the administrative handover, stating the county government's commitment to completing the project. He stressed the importance of supervising the construction to ensure timely completion, thereby reducing rental costs.
Additionally, County Deputy Secretary Mohammed Boru highlighted the benefits of having all county services under one roof, saving time for community members who previously had to navigate multiple offices scattered across the town.
Notable attendees included Isiolo County Assembly Member for Bullapesa Hon. David Nyoro who is also the County Assembly Committee member for infrastructure, Dr. Lawrence Mwongela (CEC for Trade and Tourism), Yussuf Mohammed (Agriculture and Livestock), and other chief officers led by Rashid Iribo (Executive Office of the Governor).
The Senate Finance Committee had tasked the relevant bodies to speed up the process of the transfer to the 5 counties and submit the report on time.
