went to kilkenny city some weeks ago and enjoyed it. nice place. reminds me of galway. nice to keep the town feeling, instead of a modern impersonal city about it. you can still be a city without a concrete jungle of streets. dublin should have learned from london who, in turn, should have learnt from new york. even cork city is turning into New Cork!! i heard a lot of hillbilly accents in kilkenny city, though. i thought you would all speak, you know, dublin four speech!!
some people say kilkenny is not a citiy but a town!! why do they say this? haven't you got a cathedral? so has ennis in county clare but it is still a town, even though it is big enough to be a city. same with athlone. but you don't need a cathedral, do you, to be a city? somepeople say you m ust have amillion people in the town to call it a city. dublin is the only city in all ireland to have OVER a million people. correct me if i am wrong, please.
