Yes it's funny but more interesting presentation at the same time.. that's the reason why i watched the full video in single go without taking any breaks.. nice details stuff sir...
Hello RajeshNayak, Thank you for your inquiry. Partitioning enables quicker index rebuild operations. For instance, in a 1 TB database containing data from 2011 to 2023, when DML (Data Manipulation Language) operations occur, they typically affect the 2023 data. By solely rebuilding the index for the 2023 data, we can significantly expedite the index operation process. Here we can have an option to rebuild where only we can have more DML operations. I hope this clarifies the concept for you. Thanks & Regards MS SQL DBA TECH SUPPORT
I am doing POC on table partitioning and I have one question and the question is i would like to partition the existing table in the database and the existing table already has primary key defined which default clustered index is already created, constraints etc are already there. If i want to do the partition on existing table, after creating partition function and schema, i have to rebuild the index again on partition column, but the clustered index is already available in table, i dont want to drop the existing cluster index and wanted to partition the table with existing cluster index only, i dont want to rebuild index.. but without rebuilding the index on partition column, partition is not happening, need anyone inputs on how to handle this
I find it funny when the students are not attentive and you have to drop the 'hello?!' 😆 Great video

Hi saisharman,
you have to rebuild the clustered index followed with with partition schema.
@@MSSQLDBATechSupport Thanks for your reply.. I will check your videos on rebuilding clustered index.
