  • Neermahal is a former royal palace in Tripura. It was built by King Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya of the erstwhile King of Tripura. The palace was built in the middle of the lake, known as Rudrasagar lake. It served as the summer residence (resort) of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. The British Company Martin and Burns constructed the palace. About Rs. 10.00 lacs was spent for construction of the said palace. The building works had been undertaken in 1930 and completed by 1938. The architectural design of the building is a blend of Hindu and Muslim traditions and cultures. The Lake Palace of Neermahal is the largest lake palace in eastern India, after the Jal Mahal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.
    The palace has 24 rooms in tolal, like visitor's room, bed room, dancing hall, amusement room, watch tower, dinning hall, guard room, generator room, kitchen room etc. It is situated in Melaghar, about 53 km away from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.
