Padosan was hit bec of only mehmood n Kishor Kumar comedy. Excellent understanding bet two great actors. Film had nothing in it accept kishore kumar n mehmood comedy. I was school going boy, but I remember when padosan was realised all my elders use to say padosan movie is nothing but only mehmood n Kishor Kumar comedy. That is greatest of both of them. Though they played side roll but they made movie hit.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee made a script for Kishore Kumar for film Anand, but those days Kumar was top at hindi song, he refused and Rajesh Khanna was second selection by Mukherjee.
There is a story behind it. Kishoreda told his guards to not let a bengali guy inside his house. And the guards by mistake didn't allow hrishikeshji inside the house. This made him furious and the reason why kishoreda wasn't casted in the movie. Mehmood was also going to be casted in place of amitabh. Anyway they patch up later.
