They need some type of machine that latches to the chair to slow it down so it doesn’t cause an impact like that because that can break the wheelchair. I don’t understand how that lazy looking ramp agent couldn’t have intercepted that wheelchair as it slid down. He just washed it slide down and go over the thing. What a lazy person but then again, it’s American Airlines.
The fact that this can be someone's lifeline & they treat it like it's nothing. They can't just be ordered off Amazon & received in two days. These wheelchairs are often custom, expensive & a pain in the neck going back & forth with doctors & your insurance to get the cost of it covered

Ground crews like the staff who load or unload the luggage will be employed by a firm subcontracted by the airport. So it's the airport staff who are damaging that wheelchair not the airlines staff. This means it doesn't matter who you fly with as long as it's in the same airport it'll be the exact same people who break your wheelchair.
Lyft drivers, uber drivers, veyo....ect ... They all sometimes try slamming the trunk to force it closed with my walker in the back. It has warped the wheels and now the brakes squeak. Please people be careful with things that are expensive and help others get around!!!!!

Last time I flew when I was coming back from Houston. They said the plane was not big enough to fit my wheelchair in to the cargo so me my mom had to wait five hours to board the next plane that would be big enough to hold my wheelchair in the cargo And my mom worked miracles to get us in first class
This is horrifying 😢 Last summer I checked my bike as cargo, not wrapped, fully assembled. It was tied up safely in the cargo area and came out perfectly, even though there was a missed approach before landing that led to a steep and turbulent incline. Yep the amount of things that I've had broken or misplaced because of Airlines being a wheelchair user. In their defense, they're not hired because of their intelligence.😂 Also, wanted to ask you from a perspective of somebody who's newly disabled. What do you think of all the people who say it's inspiring to watch you? Me as a lifelong disabled person, I find it kind of patronizing. Especially when they say good for you. like I'm supposed to just be held up in a home somewhere, feeling sorry for myself. I think it's more in the way they say it. Like they're speaking down to me, as if I'm a child.
What do you want them to do with it though? Walk down the narrow stairs so they can use the wheelchair when they fall and can no longer walk? Or slide down the ramp with it? I don’t see many better options. Proposing a better method would be useful. Way more useful than shaming two workers for doing what they are supposed to.
Thats fucked, someone obviously needs that so if it broke because of the employee being careless thats the employees fault and they should have to replace it.

What security and safety issues? Let's be honest here, it's about money. A wheelchair takes up space and requires a way to secure it and it's user into place. My husband and I travel by train a lot and in the space they have allocated for his wheelchair they could easily have 4 more seats. On a plane it's all about cramming more and more people into the limited space and one of the first things to go is true accessibility. @@davidsmiths5471
WOWWWW AMERICAN AIRLINES 🤬🤬🤬 People need to post this clip on their pages and contact the CEO! This is totally unacceptable.
I guarantee if they had to come out of their pockets to replace these WC they would handle they carefully!
Especially with the price of a Wheelchair.
This is why I have only flown once since needed a wheelchair
After reading this comment section. I really don't want to fly.
My son is a Ramp guy for Southwest & I can tell u, this absolutely unacceptable & IS NOT TOLERATED at Southwest ! Hope this person got Compensated for not only damages but the inconvenience !
That's shocking 😮 A total lack of respect ☹️
This was so hard to watch. 😳 I was actually horrified! 😭 How can they treat such an expensive lifeline for so many people like that? 😢
They need some type of machine that latches to the chair to slow it down so it doesn’t cause an impact like that because that can break the wheelchair. Maybe a tensioner attached to a rope or some sort of belt attached to a motor that goes up and down. May take a bit longer but it’s better than damaging much needed property
This should never happened, just poor training and supervision!
Even I flinched. These guys 😩
A wheelchair is so expensive! Wtf do you do if it's broken and you're your far from home?
WTF, that's literally someone's way to get around!
God forbid he put his hand out to stop it.
Holy shit. How are they not getting the shit sued out of them constantly for broken stuff?
So shocked how people can care so little about people stuff let alone just how important peoples wellls are and they don't have any clue how expensive it is
Question.... How exactly are they supposed to get it from top to bottom?
That is so sad how they treat a piece of equipment ……scary
Bro could’ve stopped the chair somehow lol
Right!!! I saw this and about died!! I couldn’t believe it!!
That is so disgusting! Is this what happens at all airports no respect for people with disabilities their wheelchairs ! He should be fired
I hope more people post videos like this and expose them.
The sad part is he’s probably getting praised by his bosses for unloading fast or his bosses are the problem forcing them to unload faster, it could also be a pay issue, empathy issue
@@Spiritualpanda2This is poor training and supervision!
I’m honestly confused if I should like/dislike the video!?? I am not down with what they are doing and I truly hope that this will change how they deal with wheelchairs moving forward!
First airlines hire the contractor, and you then work for that airlines !
This is the reason I am nervous to fly. My electric wheelchair would be unusable and there is no replacement offered which would leave me stranded
Lyft drivers, uber drivers, veyo....ect ... They all sometimes try slamming the trunk to force it closed with my walker in the back. It has warped the wheels and now the brakes squeak. Please people be careful with things that are expensive and help others get around!!!!!
Bros wheel chair did a frontflip
I once had a taxi driver kick my wheelchair into the trunk of the car 😮 when I got home I realized that the left front wheel was not touching the ground as much as the right, and as a result it just kept shaking whenever I was moving around 😡
wheelchairs are like an extension peoples bodies and should be treated as such, seeing this make me so furious!!
I worked for an airline and a co-worker THREW sm1’s luggage @ me to load & it hit the ground bcuz I walked away! It was THE WORST EXPERIENCE & job I’d ever had!
Jesus. i havent used them yet since i became disabled, now i never plan to
Send this to the local news
This is exactly how they treated my chair too. I complained and received not even an apology. Nothing.
That’s just WRONG on sooo many levels??
The Ikea test
You mean you belt and drop their good and cars and get beaten up and worse BUT your stuff including your wheelchair just expect. No way! These are our cars underneath us and without them, most do not have a second wheelchair so are bed ridden instead. Let’s get this RIGHT!
I am a Flight Attendant and I am still shocked at the things I see happening in baggage😮
I worked for American Airlines, sad how it would take 15 minutes or more just to get an isle chair to the gate so the passenger could finally deplane to make it to his/her connecting flight.
No man! This is sick!
They are just as rough with your luggage as well!
But this is 100 times worse
You don't need your luggage to walk though.
Fucks up my power wheelchair almost every time I fly 😢
Last time I flew when I was coming back from Houston. They said the plane was not big enough to fit my wheelchair in to the cargo so me my mom had to wait five hours to board the next plane that would be big enough to hold my wheelchair in the cargo And my mom worked miracles to get us in first class
This is horrifying 😢 Last summer I checked my bike as cargo, not wrapped, fully assembled. It was tied up safely in the cargo area and came out perfectly, even though there was a missed approach before landing that led to a steep and turbulent incline. I was so worried my bike would be damaged but I didn't even think about much needed mobility devices.
How can airlines handle bikes and strollers just fine but toss around chairs like this?? 🤯
Did you see it tied up in the cargo hold?
@@davidsmiths5471 No, I didn't, I was super worried until I picked it up at my destination. But I could tell just by its perfect condition that it must have been tied up somehow. So I asked my friend who works on a plane and he told me how an unwrapped bike like this would be tied up upright in a certain area for safety reasons.
@@suann9790 Just sounds strange! Never seen tie downs in aircraft for any type of cargo, just safety nets!
@@davidsmiths5471 Maybe I misunderstood what my friend was describing 🤔 to me it sounded like there were straps or something similar. Now I have to ask him again when I see him 😀
@@suann9790 No biggy, they might have but your bike on last against the netting! But this video is on of the reasons I don't miss the airport! Just getting worse! Safe biking!!
It's a shame people are so damned lazy and inconsiderate.
You should see how they treat animals... but I still agree... it's messed up.
No wonder my suitcase got broken
Yep the amount of things that I've had broken or misplaced because of Airlines being a wheelchair user. In their defense, they're not hired because of their intelligence.😂
Also, wanted to ask you from a perspective of somebody who's newly disabled.
Yes you walk it down the stairs! That was a lite weight chair!
Thats fucked, someone obviously needs that so if it broke because of the employee being careless thats the employees fault and they should have to replace it.
Grr!! That is our legs!
🤣😅 I thought things like this only happen in the Philippines airport
