@Wuzupshamu I agree that was probably too strong, but consider this: Kafka was the eldest of six children. To help pay the bills, he worked as an insurance officer, a job which he hated but performed diligently. Sound familiar? In 1912 (The year Metamorphoses was written), he developed tuberculosis, requiring him to take frequent breaks from his work. We can only speculate as to how his family felt about this.... There is definitely more than one interpretation to this story, though.
I for one think that this surrealistic video begins to capture the absurdity of the modern world and the intense alienation Kafka sought to convey through his work very well. Props!
I just finished reading this enthralling tale today, and am so absolutely joyous upon my discovery of the film! I was desperately anticipating a more shocking twist at the ending of the book, and was quite disappointed it was the complete opposite, though I now understand. It fits with the whole meaning of the story quite brilliantly. Kafka is genius.
Thanks to the director Charlie Ramos. I played the father, and I am happy you enjoyed it ! It was also fun for me as an actor to record it . Good luck to you ! Karl-Heinz Teuber
@Wuzupshamu Glad to hear it. Funnily enough, the interpretation I put forth was based on the one I was taught in my Lit class a few months ago. The info on Kafka's life is key though, there are undoubtedly autobiographical elements to his stories. I have to confess, though, I found that info on wikipedia haha.
I think this is a brilliant piece of animation. Too bad a second part was never made, but this is good enough as a stand alone for me. Beautiful music aswell! x
@LiliumXIV You are totaly right. ... This is a story from Franz Kafka. I am the voice actor , playing the Father. Please check out my RUclips and please watch the other characters. Good luck to you ! Thank you ! Karl-Heinz Teuber
I love the music and how you picked the best part of the book, the animation is gorgeous, and you took care of small details such as the portrait. A great impulse to start reading Kafka, but be careful, you might become addicted to him....
This is the work of Charlie Ramos and as far as I know is without follow-up. Indeed, the short, for which Karl provided the voice of Herr Samsa, looks to be featured "as is" in the upcoming Annecy09 International Animated Film Festival in France. A brief filmography of Ramos appears on IMDb.
This 2000 animation is the work of Charlie Ramos and as far as I know is without follow-up. Karl provided the voice of Herr Samsa. Charlie Ramos himself has posted this take on Kafka's novella over at Spike.
Yeah, that was good, and in the spirit of Kafka's irony and the fact that The Metamorphosis is intended as a black comedy as much as it is a social comment. Well done that man. :)
DID YOU KNOW: in Mel Brooks' film "the producers" brief reference is made to this novel when Leo and Max are looking for the worst play ever written. "Look at this one... Act one, scene one: Gregor Samsa had awoke one morning to discover that he had been transformed into a giant cocaroach. Na, too good.".
Thank yo so very much . I am glad we made you happy. This short film was done many years ago, by Charlie Ramos. I played the father, Hapy Holidays Karl-Heinz Teuber
I am so sorry, I can not help you. Please find Charlie Ramos the director on the internet ( IMDB ) because we did this movie more than 10 years ago and I do not know where he is living right now. I played the father Karl-Heinz Teuber Happy 2009

@LesMis931 There are many nasty bugs going arround that make poeple sick and tierd being in the working enviroment............. The father actor : Karl-Heinz Teuber
i had to do this play at gcse btec but we all found it quite difficult. not many people understood and for our first ever script i think it was a bit of a silly choice
Deeply disturbing! (althought movie itself was interesting) but why the hell would a english teacher make her childeren read such a book? Frankly, I might be afraid to fall asleep now :P
I take it you failed that class? FYI Kafka was far from a failed author; he ordered on his deathbed that all his works be burnt. His friend refused to comply, and had them published posthumously, leading to much critical appraise, the title of 'genius', and the term Kafkaesque. His works influenced pretty much every credible author since they were published. Dont disregard something as inferior out of spite and ignorance, and do your homework, kid.

The “humans” in the animation look like aliens to me.

this is nothing like what the story is or meant to convey. I'm disappointed... perhaps it's a lose adaptation?
